Mike And Mikes Complete Auto Care

They did a…read morefine job, so a few months later when the coolant light was on and the car was in limp mode, I didn't hesitate to call Mike and Mikes to do the job. I got the car towed 30 min from homewood just to use them. I also had purchased brake pads and rotors for the car and placed them in the trunk for them to put on. They originally quoted me an outrageous price to put the brakes on. When I explained that I was providing the parts, and I would just take it elsewhere, they went down (a little). I was mainly focused on diagnosing the reason why the vehicle was in limp mode and finding the coolant leak (I had been topping off the coolant for months). They called me and said the diagnostic was a thermostat housing, and also said I purchased the wrong size front brake pads, and I will have to pay them for the parts for the correct pads. Fine. I did. They said they would return my pads that were the wrong size and place them in the trunk (they didn't give them back and they aren't in the trunk). They then told me the car was in limp mode because there is an alternator problem. We called the shop that had just repaired the alternator a year ago (it was still in the warranty timeframe) together, and decided on a plan that the other shop would come and pick up the alternator and repair it and deliver it back. I received a call after the brakes and thermostat housing was replaced saying they had no room for my car, and that I would have to drive it myself or pay for a tow to the alternator shop. This is wild after I had just paid them $1000 for a thermostat housing and brake and rotor replacement. The alternator shop was in disbelief that Mike and Mike's asked me to do this, and told me specifically not to drive it over 40mph, do not use any electronics (no radio or headlights, no a/c) and keep it slow and steady. This was a long drive at 6am from Pelham to downtown Birmingham on Highway 31 in the RAIN. Once at the alternator shop, they checked the car, and laughed, "that's an old code from when the alternator was originally repaired, your car is fine". It's been month since I've gotten my vehicle back. The coolant reservoir is completely empty and the leak wasn't repaired like I was told. I am SUPER Disappointed with the quality of work (or lack there of). They seem to try to nickel and dime me a lot, and I am not down for that. For a woman, I have a pretty good basic knowledge of vehicles. I have only driven the car 4 times since I got it back. I will be taking my dollars elsewhere.

An hour later I checked out, paid $27.50 for my tire repair/ patch and was on my way. So happy I stopped in here to visit this reputable shop with fair pricing. It never feels good to complain about a small family business, especially one with nice people…read more Cahaba Tire checks those boxes of kindness and being a local business. While Cahaba tire may be a great spot for tires (cannot comment on that), it struggles for more complicated diagnostics. In this case, brought in the car with a set of lights blinking on the dashboard and reduced braking capacity. A simple google search or a question to AI would have immediately pinpointed even a novice to the fact that this was an issue with the brake booster, simply based on the codes. Yet, the crew here immediately jumped to diagnosis of a faulty battery with great confidence. After inquiring if it could be the brake booster (as I already searched the codes myself), they assured that it's not. Well, "mechanics know best", so I thought. Who am I to argue with them. Thus, paid for the battery, got it replaced and sure enough, all the lights came back on after half an hour of driving. Bringing the car back to them, they acknowledged the misdiagnosis, yet said they cannot fix the issue with the brake booster and it needs to be taken to a specialized shop. However, they did not offer to comp any part of the initial repair cost to replace a battery that wasn't the problem at hand, which would have been a reasonable thing to do from a customer service standpoint. In other words, owning up to their own mistakes and that they wasted a whole day for the customer. Sadly, that did not happen. While everyone was very kind and appeared genuine, the result as a customer is a wasted day without result at a mechanic shop due to overconfidence of the team here and a cost of a battery that potentially did not need to be incurred that day (which there is no way to know for certain now).

They also ruined my mother's truck by putting a wrong wheel bearing on I've paid them thousands of dollars and they don't stand by there work. I would not go here if you want your vehicle safe for your family. I really hope you see this edit. I do not have bent rims I had some dirt on a 4x4 no worse than a regular everyday driver like the Jeep that was being worked on at the same time as mine. I just told you the issues you where having, no need to call and be extremely disrespectful, I had lugs falling off by the time I got half way home and couldn't have been more respectful about the situation, so I do not understand. I'm de rimming these tires now to see how bad they are like you mechanic claims and to see how bad my rims are bent by your claims That are very suspect I don't even have curb rash. Goodyear would probably like you to have integrity with your work using there label and all. I see that you started responding to bad reviews from two years ago weird but I digress, as you can see very minimal dirt on my rock driveway. I find it very odd to blame some dirt for the poor work that was done to my vehicle. also I drive a very long long way for your "work" sure there's some dirt along the hour trip (4x4 BTW) but whatever for some reason nobody I know can see my review.... odd but whatever. also put wrong oil in my crv said nothing about it because it was cheap and it got me home so I could fix Goodyear's mistake..... AGAIN P.S turned away 3 paying customers because they are not able to do ball joints or Tie rods because only one gentleman can do it I feel bad for him. cannot post my pic here check google review of mine and you will see the small amount of dirt that will void your warranty. I believe they are taking down reviews.

My parents told them to go ahead and fix it, once the truck was back it sat for about a month until i drove it. I knew the front rotors were warped before they took it in for service and I was a surprised to find out that the rotors were still warped, even after they supposedly did a brake job. I checked the invoice and realized that the tech quoted a pad slap (front and rear) and didn't recommend replacing or even resurfacing the rotors. I also checked the old brake pads and found that they still had 4 to 5 mm of material left and were not in immediate need of replacement. I was expecting to look at the invoice and see a proper brake job that at least included turning the rotors. As a technician myself I'm extremely disappointed in the service we received, i expected better service and communication.

Do NOT purchase a vehicle from this dealership!!!!!!!!…read more My husband purchased a truck from them, and within approximately TWO WEEKS of the purchase, we experienced a major and potentially dangerous mechanical failure. The front suspension/control arm broke, resulting in the tire/wheel coming off. This wasn't an issue that developed after months or years of ownership. This happened roughly two weeks after purchasing the truck from this dealership. When you purchase a vehicle from a dealership, you expect that, at minimum, the vehicle has been properly inspected and is safe to drive off the lot. Having a major suspension component fail this soon after purchase raises serious concerns for us about the condition of the truck at the time it was sold and what type of inspection was performed before it was offered for sale. Thankfully, this situation did not result in a serious accident or injury, because it certainly had the potential to. I understand that used vehicles can have issues and no dealership can predict every future repair. However, a significant safety-related failure within two weeks of purchase is not something I would expect after buying from a dealership. They refused to correct the issue.
