I have been Susan Mann's patient for more than 30 years--first at Harvard Vanguard in Cambridge and when she left there I followed her to Brookline. When I had serious symptoms that could not be explained she persisted in running tests, even though they were all coming back negative. It turned out that I did have a malignant tumor but thanks to her persistence it was stage 1 and I did not need any further treatment after my surgery. That's what a great doctor does. read more

I have been a patient of Dr. Susan Mann's for almost 8 years and she has expertly, kindly, and patiently seen me through two high risk pregnancies to deliver healthy, full-term babies. She put my mind at ease many times and despite having a busy practice, she always listened to and carefully answered all of my questions. She takes the time to get to know her patients and I have always felt that she genuinely has my best interest in mind. I appreciate her rational, practical, and common sense approach. However, she's serious and ultra-cautious when it comes to looking after her patients. At the end of both pregnancies, my blood pressure was high and she was very firm and clear about how serious it was. She had me come back in to see her every other day until I delivered to make sure the baby and I were okay. I have been so insistent on having Dr. Mann as my doctor that I kept driving all the way to Cambridge for my second pregnancy, even though we had moved 30 minutes away. Just recently, she moved her office to Brookline and I am driving even further because I trust her implicitly and can't imagine going to another ob/gyn! read more

I have been going to see Dr. Mann for 6 years now for gynecological care, and now for pre-conception care. Dr. Mann is exceptional. My concerns have always been a priority for Dr. Mann, no matter how small. She does a great job of communicating her professional opinion, while keeping me involved in decisions regarding my care plan. She is very open, and has never made me feel uncomfortable about anything I have expressed to her. She goes as far to show you what she recording in your medical records, during the visit. She really takes the time to make you feel informed, and involved. I think she is genuinely caring person, and it reflects in her work. I'm genuinely looking forward to pregnancy with Dr. Mann, and I would recommend her to anybody! read more

Perhaps for some Dr. Mann is helpful, but we had a horrible experience. My partner saw Dr. Mann for a medical issue and she was rude, dismissive, and supercilious. She was unhelpful and even questioned my partner's medical history- totally unprofessional and disrespectful. read more

I have been going to see Dr. Mann for 5 years now and I highly recommend her!! I had a lot of potential complications with my pregnancy. She sat down with me and we came up with a great plan. I felt like she really listen to my concerns and we looked into everything before we started trying. I happy to report everything was complication free and I have her to thank for that. read more

I don't usually write reviews, but since I rely on them heavily, this one's long overdue. I found Dr. Mann through Yelp reviews and she's a gem! I needed a new ob/gyn after moving back to the Boston area. Other reviews for her and her practice with Dr. Okamura focused on the obstetric perspective but I wanted to share mine from a purely gynecological perspective, as I have felt in other practices that I am a "second class citizen" when not there for ob/pregnancy issues. In an increasingly changing healthcare environment, Dr. Mann does not make you feel rushed, listens to you, and sympathizes when needed. She is efficient in evaluating you and in determining what tests may be needed but not in a sterile manner. When I first saw her, I had no insurance and paid out of pocket. Because of this, she gave me some leeway on tests, doing only what was necessary, and even gave me two options on the follow up ultrasound that I needed, having her office staff call ahead to let me know cost of each. It turned out that I had a large ovarian cyst that needed surgery. Dr. Mann first tried to get me in with a surgeon that she knew could take me soonest, but when that surgeon wouldn't accept my insurance, her office quickly got me the referral to the surgeon who ultimately did my procedure. I have called with questions (and anxiety when I disagreed initially with the surgeon's surgical plan and needed Dr. Mann's opinion) and she ALWAYS calls you back - many times at like 7 pm. Her nurse is also wonderful, always follows up and communicates with you. And the office/admin staff is first rate - sweet, smart, effective. Sometimes the physician can be great and the office staff sub par, but not the case here. Their communication and follow up is superior to any other doctor's office I've been to. In an nutshell, FIRST RATE DOCTOR, FIRST RATE NURSE AND FIRST RATE OFFICE STAFF. Don't hesitate to make an appointment. read more

I switched to Dr. Mann during my second trimester and unfortunately I did not have a pleasant experience. She is very judgmental. If you are over 35 you will hear a lot of unnecessary remarks from her. She has trouble with technology; She pulled someone else's record on the computer during my visit and incorrectly updated info - this happened twice. She insisted that I go for C section after my full term because she has a 40-40 rule (even though I had ZERO complications during my pregnancy). When I went to Beth Israel, the doctor in charge was appalled that Dr.Mann wanted to go for C section just because I am 39 and there was no other medical reason. Stay away from this doctor, its not worth it. read more
