They have many hydraulic, electrical and mechanical items but sometimes their descriptions are lacking. I purchased a large hydraulic cylinder and nowhere in the description did it indicate the rod was HOLLOW. When it failed, Surplus Center said they couldn't find the item despite my providing the order number and basically said it wasn't their problem. I asked for some discount on just shipping when buying another more suitable cylinder and they declined any help at all. Be very wary and circumspect when dealing with Surplus Center, flood them with every possible question before buying as their descriptions can leave out vital information, whether by design or just as an oversight. read more

I ordered 2 parts from Surplus Center and they never showed up. I contacted them and I was told that there was a note from their chosen shipper who said it was undeliverable. Oddly, all my Christmas gifts arrived from the same shipper, the same week, so they were able to find my house. Surplus center automatically refunded a portion of the purchase price without EVER contacting me to let me know and said they wouldn't refund shipping even thou I was still trying to repurchase the product. Mika was pleasant and understanding however I was only given the option to buy it again and "PAY FOR SHIPPING AGAIN"! If it didn't show up the first time, why would I buy from them again especially when they aren't willing to help rectify the first shipping issue. Customer service (Jake) was a complete joke. Ordered 20' of hydraulic hose. Never received it. Tracking said undeliverable. Had to reorder (using the exact same address), wait for them to receive the original order back before I would get a refund. The original order was for $148, but my refund was only $92. Yes, they made me eat the shipping charges!!!! When I called to get it resolved, they basically said "tough luck, that's our policy". Great customer service!! I purchased a treadmill motor for a lathe project from Surplus Center. When it arrived there was damage to the motor. I contacted customer service by email with photos of damage. They had a replacement motor shipped befor 9:30 AM the SAME day!! this is the best customer service I've ever seen.
