Very meh. Really wouldn't recommend when there are SO many other amazing shave ice spots in the area. While conveniently located by the Kihei shops, the shave ice just ain't it. Very icey, too much syrup, almost no ice cream (despite paying an extra 3.50 for it) and overpriced. They also got one of our orders wrong and had a very "oh well" response. It was still refreshing on a hot day but ranked last on our list of shave ice places we tried in the area.

This is a small stand that can be seen when driving down the road. We had to wait a little bit but there was only one person working and several people in line. The worker was moving pretty quickly and was very nice The ice itself is okay. I'm usually looking for a softer/smoother texture and this was almost there. It was a little icier than I wanted but not so much that it was off-putting. There are quite a few flavors. In the end, I decided to get their blue vanilla, mango, and li hing mui. It was a good combo and the flavors were good but not too sweet. I liked that they had the li hing mui powder available on the counter so that you could put as much as you want without an extra charge. The potions are also quite big for the price. It was good overall but not my favorite.

We were looking to cool-off and stopped at Surfing Monkey Shave Ice in Kihei recently on our trip to Maui. This space used to be occupied by Local Boyz Shave Ice, but it's now under new management. They offer two sizes of shave ice and use homemade syrups. You can choose from a wide variety of syrups. We ordered three smalls and they don't skimp on their portions. My son had a small Passion Fruit & Guava, my wife had a small Mango & Guava and I had a small Pineapple and Passion Fruit. They give you a good amount and the syrups were refreshing. The young lady was friendly and courteous. It was a good way to cool-down.

All ice and syrup and no icecream or toppings in their shave ice. Average taste. Not worth the stop. Can't compare to Ululani's.

We had the tropical heaven shaved ice. It was very average shave ice. The ice is not shaved finely enough.

We got in line and as the worker was making the dole whip, a whole bunch of people got behind us in line, so this place is very popular.

The line can get pretty long, as we waited 20 minutes in line. The menu is easy to understand, making ordering very easy. Food: The shaved ice literally melts in your mouth. The ice is so fine, it gives a creamy texture. The flavors are also natural tasting and there wasn't a flavor I didn't like. My favorite combination is the Hawaiian Rainbow, which is a mix of strawberry, blue vanilla, and pineapple. If you would like more syrup, you can go to the counter and ask for more! Do yourself a favor and visit Ululani's. I am convinced you will become a fan if you aren't already.

I love how it's not just shaved ice but more akin to frozen milk that's shaved, so when it melts it's a lot like ice cream. We ordered the larger size to share between two people, but honestly you could share it with 3 or 4 people because it's pretty big (still absolutely demolished it though!) Although it is extremely sweet (as the name would suggest), it is extremely refreshing! Genuinely 100% recommend & wish we returned to get this again during our trip.

I had to take both my daughters Rainbow ice back to get more syrup for the middle. The girl was honestly rude and finally said she'll give me additional syrup in a cup to pour in the middle. She then told me I should've mashed it all up in order to get the flavor to the middle. I know y'all have got to be kidding me. We were wasting ice everywhere just to stir it up. Also, had to wait a while to eat it and it was melting just to mix it together. Soooo many other tables got their orders and were confused as to why its white in the middle. I hope they posted reviews also. I went around and explained what she told me and they felt it was pretty dumb and cheap for the company to do this to customers. We pay way too much in Maui for cheap outs with restaurants. Try adding a little ice then flavor then stack again with a little ice then flavor, so that customers can get what they pay for.

We rushed over and waited about 20 minutes in line, which felt reasonable given the holiday. We ordered three flavors--mango, passion fruit, and Tiger's Blood--and added macadamia nut ice cream for an extra $3. Overall, the shave ice was fine, but nothing memorable. The ice itself wasn't as fluffy as Ululani's, which really affects the texture. The syrup flavors were also underwhelming. The mango flavor was a bit strange and didn't really taste like mango at all. The passion fruit and Tiger's Blood were better, but still not very bold or punchy. The macadamia nut ice cream was another letdown. It was taken straight out of the deep freezer and was rock hard at the bottom. To be fair, the employee did warn us, but for a $3 add-on, I expected a better experience. The ice cream flavor itself was just okay, and there weren't many macadamia nuts mixed in. Compared to other shave ice spots, this one falls short. The ice isn't as fluffy, the syrup flavors aren't as strong, and the value for what you get feels low. For reference, I'd give Ululani's a solid 4/5, and Waiola Shave Ice on Oahu is a 5/5 for me. Peace Love Shave Ice lands at a 3/5--fine if you're nearby or need a quick treat, but not a must-visit.

This food truck is actually an old school VW bus painted in white and blue. The line was about 10 people deep when I got there, even though it was around 7:30 and he was closing in about half an hour. After looking over the menu and seeing some wild options like birthday cake and gummy bear, I ultimately decided to go with an Ono Hua, or shaved fruit. For my shave ice I went with a regular size and chose POG as my flavor. Since it was shaved fruit, he had to switch from the regular ice to one that already had the fruit in it. Once he finished making it, he asked if I wanted a sweetener on top and I chose the coconut. As soon as I walked away I took my first bite and wow was it good. The POG flavor was legit and while the lilikoi dominated, that is exactly what I like. I loved the sharpness from the passion fruit and how the real fruit flavors were allowed to shine. The ice itself was super fluffy and light which made it even better. The bottom line for me is that I would head back here again in the future. I really loved this shave ice and can't wait to bring my wife the next time we are in Maui.

They use New Zealand Ice Cream Machines to create their fresh fruit ice cream concoctions. You can choose between Vanilla or Coconut (Non Dairy) Base, between a cup or a Waffle Cone, and you can choose 1 or up to 3 fruits to swirl into your ice cream. I was going to go modest with 1 fruit but decided on the 3 fruit combo of Strawberry, Mango and Banana and it was a nice swirl of fruits and the coconut base and I think best enjoyed in the crispy Waffle Cone. I'm a sprinkle addict (a go to on my ice cream since childhood lol) so that was lacking for me but I noticed you can add various toppings like Oreos, Honey, Granola, Waffle cone crumbles, etc. I tried my friend's fruit choices and they were delicious! The Pineapple with Coconut Base tasted like a Dole Whip, the Banana was light and creamy and the Strawberry and Mango (which was close to mine) was delicious as well. They have outdoor seating in the back with a little bit of shade. The last time I came with a friend was evening when it was cooler but the ice cream definitely hit during the day and was refreshing for sure.

My mom politely asked if they had any sugar-free pies available. The girl at the register stated " you need to ask for those a day in advance". The girl then looked up from the register with an annoyed look on her face and said, verbatim, " does it look like I'm the head baker? I only work the register. You need to leave the store and call us to order". We all looked at each other shocked. That was the most rude response I've heard in a while... like we are supposed to know who specifically ask to order a sugar free pie ... ... just a wild situation for such a fun place with great tasting pies. The good: - blackberry mango was probably my favorite pie - peach cobbler a close second place - loved the mountain berry as well The bad: - the girl working the register - you want a sugar free pie? Make sure to NEVER ask in person. You have to call in. - And they only offer whole pies and not slices for sugar free pies The verdict: - minus 2 stars for the rude girl who yelled at my mom - minus 1 star for only having whole pies and not slices for sugar free pies, even though they only have 3 flavors to choose from... Such a shame to have people like that working at a place that serves such a good product.
