Lychee coconut shaved ice, addon pineapple cream topping and vanilla ice cream
Sarah T.

The shaved ice was such a treat after hanging out by the kiddie pool for an hour in the sun. Waikomo made a delicious bowl of lychee coconut shaved ice. I added on pineapple cream and vanilla ice cream for a total of $13.50. Good flavors and convenience were worth the price. This spot is inside the Hyatt Regency Resort on Maui and in between the kiddie pool and the regular pool. Our server was nice and friendly. Ordering right by the beach and sound of waves was definitely a plus.

Passion Fruit and Calamansi shaved ice

This shaved ice was so good! If I remember correctly I got the passion fruit and calamansi. It was delicious!! Perfect size in my opinion. In the future I would probably ask for more coconut cream because it was so good! The people running the shop were so nice and funny. The place is super convenient to walk over to on the boardwalk if you're staying in Kaanapali! It's right on the beach and they have picnic tables to enjoy it at!

Yummy shave ice - the BEST on the island!

After a 3-mile walk, we saw this locally-owned, small business "Waikomo Shave Ice". It's at the beach front property of Hyatt Regency Maui. It was such a refreshing snack: light & not too sweet. We chose two flavors: lychee & coconut. It was so good! We met the owner, Thomas. He was very nice. We mentioned that it was our 42nd-year anniversary & gave us a $2.00 off coupon for next time, & some stickers (for our grandkids, of course)! We enjoyed the beach-front sitting, gazing at the ocean, & enjoyed eating the shave ice under the beautiful sunshine that only Maui could offer on a "wintery-January" weather. Come by & do the same - you'll be happy you did!!!

I had half coconut half mango w/ honey drizzle, coconut cream, fresh pineapple, and vanilla ice cream. Will dream about this!

On my first bite I said, "Oh my gosh this is delicious!" The owner was very nice. I had half coconut half mango with honey drizzle, coconut cream, fresh pineapple, and vanilla ice cream. I will dream about this! Syrups also made from scratch. It was nice to enjoy shaved ice while looking out in the ocean.

This place is a gem! The owner was super friendly and went out of his way to help me choose the perfect flavor. He even had non-dairy options, which was such a nice surprise. Everything about the experience was warm and welcoming--and the shave ice was absolutely delicious. Hands down some of the best I've had had!

Mango & lychee shaved ice with pineapple, coconut cream and honey. All local to Maui!
Natalie M.

My husband and I stopped by right after swimming, and the workers were so kind. They made us feel welcomed & explained where each of their ingredients came from. We ordered the mango & lychee. It came with fresh and sweet pineapple with coconut cream and honey. It was absolutely delicious!

Clean tables!!!

Service and fresh homemade syrups are indeed the real win here!! The toppings made it extra special. No hidden extra costs!!! Can't wait to go back!

Too good. The personal touch and homemade flavors without red dye was just what our family needed. Fans for life. Will be back.

Baby they put the "nom" in phenomenal!…read more The wait is ridiculous (line out the door). They need to expand but this review is in spite of that. The garlic shrimp dish?? So good! I smelled it before it was brought to the table! So succulent, so flavorful! Perfect combination with the rice and the salad and fruit! I haven't had anything on the island like this and I've been here a week! I had the pitaya smoothie and the taro bagel. Delicious and delicious. The taro bagel is also beautifully unique. I haven't seen anything like it yet which is weird because it tastes really good. Altogether, it was worth the wait and the hectic environment!

As someone who loves super sweet coffee drinks, I was surprised by just how sweet the drinks here…read morewere. Even for my taste, they were almost overwhelmingly sugary, to the point where I could barely taste the actual coffee. I don't mind a sweeter drink, but I still want to be able to taste the espresso and have some balance between the coffee and the other flavors. The frozen mocha was probably the best example of this. It tasted more like a chocolate milkshake than a coffee drink. It was rich, chocolatey, and definitely delicious if you're in the mood for something sweet, but I could barely taste any coffee in it. I'd consider getting it again as more of a dessert or sweet treat, but definitely not when I'm looking for a caffeine fix. I would have liked a stronger coffee flavor to balance out all the chocolate and sugar. The island latte was again very sweet, I liked the syrups they used but i wish there was a stronger coffee taste. Prices were also on the expensive side, almost $20 for 2 drinks. Parking was another downside, as it was pretty difficult to find a spot nearby. Overall, I'd say this place is better suited for people who enjoy dessert-like coffee drinks rather than those who want a good balance of sweetness and coffee flavor. If you have a serious sweet tooth, you might enjoy it, but even as someone who loves sweet coffee, these drinks were a little too much for me.

The Caesar was pretty standard but very good. The ahi poke nachos we turned into a bowl and it was delicious, with a good amount of spice. If you don't like spice, I'd ask for no spicy mayo. But the fish was fresh and flavorful and the mix ins worked really well. The mochiko chicken was delicious as well, with the furikake rice hitting the spot. The service at the pool was great with the servers being there for every want and need and we loved the bowls the food came in because it allowed us to close the lids without worrying about birds or bugs getting into the food. Overall, great experience!

We sat at the far side of the bar so we could have a view of the pool and coast. They have quite a few items that looked good- poke nachos, Korean wings and burger but we went with a salad plus chicken and the blackened fish tacos. Well, the salad was great and not drowning in dressing, good portion of chicken although it was already so expensive and then the added fee of chicken geez. The tacos did not come out blackened. It was grilled fish- only two tacos- small amount of fish which is sad because the fish is an extra charge on top of the tacos; Chicken would not have an extra charge. The tortilla chips were good but unfortunately we were not served the salsa, but rather ketchup. So we waited a bit to get that corrected. We each had a cocktail with lunch- i had the Maui medicine, it was great. Hotel prices for everything plus it's Maui, so lunch plus tip and taxes etc was a whopping $126.82. Each cocktail was $21 and the total for our food plus the up charge for choosing fish for the tacos and adding the chicken on the salad- $60. Needless to say, we ate there only once. But our friends did enjoy poolside lunch a couple times- so I know the wings are good- they had them twice.

Came here twice on my last trip, both for happy hour, after having dinner at the Wailea location…read moreearlier on the trip. Didn't make reservations and waited about 15 minutes for a table both times. On the first visit, we sat at the bar and ordered beer, house cut dries, and both the kalua pork & pineapple pizza and the mushroom & truffle oil pizza. Since it was happy hour, the food was all 50% off -- definitely a bargain, and the kalua pork & pineapple pizza was still excellent and the best dish. I was disappointed that nearly than half the draft beers are out, limiting the variety, but I was able to enjoy the only hazy IPAs available and the only witbier available (I forget the name of both). Sitting at the bar was fine, nothing very special about it -- and bar service was also just fine. One the second visit, we were sat at a table and ordered a beer and and both the kalua pork & pineapple pizza as well as the moroccan spiced lamb sausage. Again, both were 50% off -- a bargain, and the kalua pork & pineapple pizza was still excellent and the best dish. Similar to the prior trip, not many draft beers were available -- so I just had the IPA again. Table service was also fine, server was friendly and attentive. I 100% recommend coming to Monkeypod for happy hour (and only happy hour), I know I will be looking forward to going back for the kalua pork & pineapple pizza on my next trip to Maui!

Staff was super quick and the food seemed instant. The drinks were tasty but they were slightly what I would consider a good cocktail. But maybe the reviews were for the service and the view; it was overall nice.
