Included with a snorkel shop we stopped at was this Hawaiian Shave Ice stand. This was my first experience in Hawaii for shave ice, and I was excited. The person running the spot was very outgoing and quickly learned I was a tourist from Florida. We had a fun conversation including with other customers, while she shaped and made my Maui Wowie flavored ice. Once it was completed, she put it in a stand and I sat at one of the few tables outside. The shave ice was so refreshing. It did melt quickly so I had to eat fairly quickly. It was also pretty large vs a typical snow cone. Maui Wowie is cherry and pina colada and I got it with a vanilla snowcap. Really good, a really nice first impression for this Hawaiian treat.

Delicious even on a chilly wet and rainy day. Staff was super nice and the shop was cute and clean!

The shaved ice was huge. Large amount can definitely be shared between two people. Spot was packed. I thought the flavor was decent but there was minimal syrup once we got through the huge ball of ice there was not as much flavor anymore. Also minimal tables there are like 2 in front of it and a few on the sides. Hawaii is known for the shaved ice but this one just didn't blow me away. Still cool to try though!

When in Hawaii one must cool off. What better way than with shave ice. It's what I had growing up and something that I have enjoyed watching evolve over the years. Despite the fancy iterations with ice cream, boba, jelly and mochi, to name some of my favorites, I still comes down to the flavors of the syrup and the quality of the syrups. Natural syrups made from and with real fruit is the best. So what is the criteria I judge shave ice by? 1st is the ice. It is shave ice not crushed ice. Big difference. Shaved Ice is like eating a cloud what evaporates on your tongue. 2nd, is the flavors and the 3rd is the add ons or toppings. I compare the shop with this combo: Passion Fruit, Mango and Lychee with a dusting of li hing powder. So that said. The Shave Ice Spot makes the real kine shave ice. Service ratings first. 5 stars. Great service, explanations and since it was slower-ish, fun to talk story. The shave ice is fluffy like a cloud. The flavors of the syrups are good. You can taste the fruit but not overpowered by sugar, like fake syrups. For me, the li hing powder is sentimental from keiki times. But that is another story. Oh, they have a nice little plastic base that holds your shave ice cone while you eat it. Pretty simple but nifty device. Much appreciated. They are now on my go to list for the shave ice list for the Lahaina side of Maui.

The portion on this shaved ice was pretty big, and there are many flavors. Service was quick and the person who made the shaved ice was really friendly. This location shares its space with a snorkeling shop. You can't eat inside the establishment but there are seats outside. If it's mid day and hott just beware the tables and chairs are all in the sun and made out of metal. They are scorching hot.

I found this spot after we were given a buy one, get one 50% off deal from our hotel. It's super convenient to the resorts in Ka'anapali. The service is excellent. I found the staff to be helpful and attentive. The set-up is situated within a snorkel gear store but they've got a great selection of shaved ice options and my order came out quickly. They even have a couple of tables outside to sit at and plastic holders for you to use to hold your shaved ice, if needed! I loved the shaved ice from here- perfectly fluffy and flavorful.

Leah is the vibe! She gave a us shave ice and an upbeat conversation. We were all much happier eating our shave ice. They have a decent selection of flavors and they give you a little shave ice stand (that you should return) for while you eat. We had half guava and half coconut flavor with a coconut ice cap and Roselani ice cream base. It's part of the snorkel store next to whaler's village in kaanapali.

This was a good place for shave ice, kinda hidden because it's in a surf shop. Seating is outdoor only, but they have little holders you can take out to your table to hold the shave ice while you eat it. The shaved ice was very fluffy and finely shaved. The syrups were sweet and full of flavor but not overly sweet. There weren't a ton of syrup options but they had all the classic flavors. They also had ice cream and two flavors of snow cap to add to the shave ice, which were delicious additions. The guy making the shave ice was nice and funny, so he made it a good time. I would get shave ice here again.

Loved The Shave Ice Spot and wished we had found it sooner! Located in a nice little strip mall area, The Shave Ice Spot is connected to The Snorkel Store. I was drawn here because they have natural flavor options that are dye free and corn syrup free. You can select up to 3 flavors, and they include snow cap in either vanilla or coconut for free. Additionally, if you check in, you can get a free scoop of vanilla ice cream at the bottom! The shave ice is the perfect fluffy texture and the flavors of the syrups were great (I picked cherry, piña colada, and Lillikoi). The staff here are friendly and helpful. If it wasn't our last day, I'm sure we would have been back for both shave ice and for snorkel and beach rentals!

Stopped by The Shave Ice Spot after zip lining for a little treat while we walked back to our hotel, the Outrigger. It was our first shaved ice and the lady behind the counter made sure it was a great experience for us - even offered to take our picture! My boyfriend grabbed the "mango, blue raspberry and lychee" flavors and I stuck with a traditional "pina colada" flavor which was very refreshing!

Conveniently located right next to The Snorkel Store (home of the famous Maui Snorkel Report), the Shave Ice Spot makes for convenient one stop shopping. What differentiates this shave ice place from others is the effervescent Leah who aims to please and to make your day better with her pleasant personality. For my order, I had the Ka'anapali Rainbow: Cherry, Mango, and Blue Razz ($7) with a Roselani ice cream base ($2.50) and a coconut cream drizzle. In addition to getting some shave ice, you can fill your water bottle with their special filtered water machine for free from which their ice is made. Seating outdoors is very limited. For our next visit, Leah told us the secret to getting a discount.

This was a very good shaved ice spot. We were looking all around the kapalua area and decided to try this spot. Parking is fairly easy. They have a lot with other stores, and we parked right in front. Once we arrived, there was a line out the door! It took a good 15 minutes to get our shaved ice. We got 3 all priced at $7 each. They are a very good size and the syrup goes through the ice which was really nice. They even give you a stand to hold your shaved ice on. The cup alone wouldn't be able to hold all the shaved ice without spilling. The store is connected with the snorkel shop and it's on one half of the store. Overall, it was great. We wanted to come back but didn't have time. My kids loved it. There's also seating outside to sit at, but it's not shaded. Get here early because it gets crowded fast. Pro tip: There are more tables to the right when you exit the shaved ice spot.

Small - banana and passion fruit

OK spot for shave ice in Lahaina. The ice is fluffy but also melts quite fast compared our favorite spot in Kihei (our favorite one in Kihei doesn't melt until the last spoon which no other place has been able to match). I got banana and passion fruit flavors. Banana flavor is delicious and tastes just like banana. Passion fruit doesn't taste like passion fruit. It has a tartness and tastes like fruit in general. If you don't tell me what it is, I can't tell that it's passion fruit. My mom got watermelon, I tried and it tasted tart, which was more like a mix of strawberry lemonade and cherry. There's no indoor seating so everything must be enjoyed outdoor. It'd be nice to have some tables and chairs inside for customers during hot summer days. Parking: plenty of parking spots since it's located in a shopping center.

Baby they put the "nom" in phenomenal!…read more The wait is ridiculous (line out the door). They need to expand but this review is in spite of that. The garlic shrimp dish?? So good! I smelled it before it was brought to the table! So succulent, so flavorful! Perfect combination with the rice and the salad and fruit! I haven't had anything on the island like this and I've been here a week! I had the pitaya smoothie and the taro bagel. Delicious and delicious. The taro bagel is also beautifully unique. I haven't seen anything like it yet which is weird because it tastes really good. Altogether, it was worth the wait and the hectic environment!

As someone who loves super sweet coffee drinks, I was surprised by just how sweet the drinks here…read morewere. Even for my taste, they were almost overwhelmingly sugary, to the point where I could barely taste the actual coffee. I don't mind a sweeter drink, but I still want to be able to taste the espresso and have some balance between the coffee and the other flavors. The frozen mocha was probably the best example of this. It tasted more like a chocolate milkshake than a coffee drink. It was rich, chocolatey, and definitely delicious if you're in the mood for something sweet, but I could barely taste any coffee in it. I'd consider getting it again as more of a dessert or sweet treat, but definitely not when I'm looking for a caffeine fix. I would have liked a stronger coffee flavor to balance out all the chocolate and sugar. The island latte was again very sweet, I liked the syrups they used but i wish there was a stronger coffee taste. Prices were also on the expensive side, almost $20 for 2 drinks. Parking was another downside, as it was pretty difficult to find a spot nearby. Overall, I'd say this place is better suited for people who enjoy dessert-like coffee drinks rather than those who want a good balance of sweetness and coffee flavor. If you have a serious sweet tooth, you might enjoy it, but even as someone who loves sweet coffee, these drinks were a little too much for me.
