My second experience with Surf Bagel was the same as the first, and thus somewhat more disappointing. While their large caliber bagels are good, they appear to be on a pitch count, meaning they don't make enough of each variety to get them through the morning /lunch rush. When I arrived at 11:00 a.m. there was only one onion bagel and two garlic bagels available for purchase. Their computer system shows their inventory on the cash register, so the friendly woman taking my order knew immediately that there were no more bagels in the oven. I ended up ordering a half dozen, with the final three made up of "everything" bagels. Okay, but not what I was hoping for. This was the same deal as my experience with Surf Bagel in Milton. There just wasn't much to choose from. How they made it through the afternoon was beyond me. The only thing to do is call them the day before to ask for the specific quantity of particular bagels desired. When you're just passing through and stopping in on the spur of the moment, that is a hard thing to do. Three bagel holes for the missed opportunity. read more

The Milford store is our go to since we live in Dover. The food and service is great but are you going to open a store in Dover? It's quite a drive for a good bagel. We don't have any bagel shops in Dover anymore and a Surf Bagel in the right place would be wonderful! read more

I doordashed my order - steak egg and cheese (added hashbrown) on a jalapeno bagel grilled with homefries and fresh oj so I can't speak much to the service. I love the option that they will grill your bagel, sometimes toasting a bagel for a sandwich isn't right. The jalapeno bagel flavor was v good, not at all spicy though. If you are a plain bagel person and you wanna branch out a little, I would recommend. The sandwich was really good and hashbrown on the sandwich and as nice and crisp. On the other hand, the home fries were nicely salted but not crisp at all. I'd skip the homefries and go for the chips or hashbrown. The fresh oj was also really good. read more

It's a nice place with plenty of seating. Service is great and they have plenty of options. Bagels are just ok. If you ask for a toasted bagel, they are barely toasted. The jalapeño bagel barely had any jalapeños. The jalapeños spread was barely spicy. It basically tastes like a regular plain bagel with plain cream cheese. read more

Surf bagel is a very poor version of a real bagel shop. the bagels are just bread with a hole to look like a real bagel but cant really be considered a real bagel shop. However they are much more efficient and pleasant than others in the area. Sad really but this is delaware. capital of many food places with no soul. This is a new Surf Bagel location. It is aesthetically pleasing inside and out. The ordering and executing process is extremely streamlined and efficient. Staff were friendly and properly trained. I got my order quite expeditiously. I am a bit of a bagel snob since being from New York State and growing up on the best bagels in the world. Surf Bagel will do very well here although it won't be my favorite. LIDL down the road has fresh baked authentic New York style bagels made throughout the day that outshine these bagels. But I digress. I ordered an egg bagel un toasted with the cream cheese and lox spread. The bagel was fluffy inside and had a decent crusty chew. As it should have. The cream cheese was fresh, albeit somewhat smoky with lox flavor. With the exception of one piece of lox, the size of a pinky fingernail. The rest of the so-called lox were tiny little ballpoint pen bits strewn about the cream cheese. The so-called lox bits had an almost artificial flavor. Certainly not what I would expect if I ordered lox cream cheese. Perhaps they can find another purveyor. I would not order this flavor cream cheese here again. I did get four bagels to take home. I will place them in the freezer and hopefully they will toast up and taste good in the near future. I may come back to sample a bacon, egg, and cheese on a toasted bagel and see if that type of sandwich can meet my expectations. read more

Got to admit, nice spot. However, I've been there 4x's now. The first two, usually between 6:45am and 7:30am. I get a sausage egg and/or scrappe egg and cheese. When I get sandwiches, the egg, for the most part is unchewable. I think it has something to do with the cheese and egg edges. It's like chewing on thick wax paper. Maybe microwaving the cheese and egg... I don't know. Whatever it is, please stop. Those sandwiches aren't like that in any of the southern locations. Service was good and friendly, I ordered a sausage egg and cheese on an onion bagel, and an avocado egg and cheese. The sandwiches aren't balanced. All you taste is the onion bagel which is good. You cannot taste the egg or sausage because they're both so thin. For $7.50 there should be at least 2 eggs. The avocado was plentiful but nothing else. For what they charge they could make the sausage and egg thicker. Just a disappointing sandwich. read more
