My husband and our friend ordered beer with our food order. Our food started to come out and they still hadn't received their drinks. We tried to get someone's attention not sure if the person heard us as he kept on walking by. Finally waitress came over and asked how everything was and my husband said we ordered beer. Then waitress remembered and brought them to table. The food is very tasty and made up for oversight on drinks. I absolutely love sura. They are a little slow for dine in, the the rest of the time they are on point ! The staff is always so friendly. Even with the COVID-19 crisis going on they are still open. I've been looking for good sushi in Providence, and I've finally found it. I got the Providence roll and the tomilko roll. Both were fresh and delicious. The Providence roll had shrimp tempura and avocado inside and spicy salmon on top with sweet and spicy sauce drizzled over it. The sauce had a nice kick to it. The tomilko roll had spicy tuna and crunch inside with salmon, tuna and avocado on top. There were lots of other good options I'd like to go back and try. The nigiri was nicely portioned, although it didn't come with wasabi already on the rice. Surprisingly, the miso soup and salad that came with the sushi were particularly enjoyable. I think it's the best side salad I've had at a sushi restaurant. They're usually either too plain or dripping with too much dressing. The decor was nice. Great location. Friendly service. I'm looking forward to trying some of their Korean dishes in the future, too. read more

This is my second time trying this place. The first time I went I just got cali rolls. My friend got ramen but was disappointed. I tried it again today and got Cali rolls and the house salad. The Worst Bubble Tea Ever! I was hoping to compare this restaurant's bubble tea with other teas in Providence, but I quickly realized that there was no comparison. First of all, it took the guy ten minutes to make the tea - giving me the impression that this tea was at least going to be decent. It took me one sip to realize that this restaurant was not even in the bubble tea league. They gave me a green liquid that tasted like bubble gum in water. I tried to return it for something else but the owner or head chef was offended - so I left them my $6 as a gift. Do not be deceived by the ambience, the tea is . Thayer Street has a few tea spots that are in a league of their own. They had a menu with outdated price off of which I ordered. When I asked why I was charged more than I expected, lady proceeded to show me another menu that had a higher price for all items and had a manually written "+2" symbol next to some proteins. I got tofu for bibimbap, and even though the updated menu did not have the "+2" symbol next to it, she argued that it does not matter. I actually had the Kimchee Ramen and just like the waitress said it has a pice but not overly spicy. So overall the food was great however the service was extremely slow. Love this restaurant, while at work in the downtown area this is a great place to stop by and get your lunch. If you are dining in, the staff knows most of the regulars and do their best to serve your order as quickly as possible. They get busy so if you are concern about the time, I would recommend ordering ahead and getting your lunch to go. During Covid-19 times we often call in our dinner orders and they always have our orders correct, nicely packed and have added miso soups and salads to our meals free of charge. It's a nice gesture that they do this. Sura is one of my family favorite restaurant. Thank you and your staff everything that you do. I love this place! I usually only get pickup orders from here and am always so happy with the food. I love their combo platters and enjoy the complimentary salad and miso soup-- so delish. I dined in person here the other night and loved the service as well. It was a Saturday night so a bit busy but we didn't have to wait very long for the staff to clear a table for us. The staff seem to get along well with each other which is sweet to see-- seems like a family run place with a health work culture. read more

Last year this had great tempura. This year they had none. Had little to choose from so o had a tofu hot pot that was ridiculous. About 2 dollars of tofu and two pieces of onion one piece of zucchini and broth had no flavor. So I added soy sauce to add flavor. 20 dollars for really BAD food. Never again for us. We went here on a trip and it was delicious. The food was super flavorful and each entrée came with little sides that were really fun. The sushi was also much bigger than what we usually get at home and tasted really fresh. Everything was served nice and hot, and filled us up for the road trip home. I always come to this place and give them another try, hoping that my annoyances were just circumstantial. Service is always fine, seating and ambiance are nice. The seafood pancakes are delicious, but the miso soup and salad are just ok. The appetizers and finger foods were my favorite parts. I've heard from friends is where you should come if you want authentic Korean and Japanese food- the best in providence! But in my experience, there are others that are better. There is nothing I hate more than when you have sushi, and it comes out on a warm plate. Like the place just came out of the dishwasher and is still hot to the touch. Negatives: The Sever - The seemingly inexperienced server, who lacked product knowledge, did not know what tobiko was, and seemed disinterested in serving our table. My friend was allergic to certain vegetables and asked the server what was in their vegetable side. The server only said broccoli onions and carrots, but failed to list mushrooms, bell pepper, and baby corn (mushrooms being the primary issue for my friend). The sushi chefs - The sushi chefs wouldn't torch the sashimi (apparently they don't offer that here), and they would not serve a spicy shrimp roll because they didn't want to prep (cut up) the shrimp. The food - The spicy lobster roll was mushy and lacking in flavor. The menu items were overpriced, especially the beef Galbi BBQ plate (BBQ short ribs), which was mostly bones and fat, at an unbelievably high price of $30.95. The flavor was very average. Definitely NEVER order this. The check - After sharing that the spicy lobster roll was terrible, they took the plate with the uneaten food (we only ate one bite) Never did they apologize for the poor quality or ask if we wanted something else. When we received the check at the end of the meal, we found that they still ended up charging us for the roll. We had to insist that the server actually speak with the manager about the quality of the food (which the person had not done yet). The manager did finally remove the cost of the roll from the check. Positives: The complimentary appetizers were flavorful (miso soup, salad with ginger/Asian (the server actually said "oriental") dressing, pickled radishes, fish cake strips, and kimchi). The physical atmosphere was nice. The spicy crab roll and the crazy dragon roll were both great (but be warned, the spicy tuna gives it a pretty good kick). read more

We all ordered soup the guy set up both of their utensils except for mine. I had to have my friend order for me because they were ignoring me and I didn't want them to do anything to my food I shouldn't have ordered anything at all honestly I ordered spicy kimchi soup it wasn't spicy and it smelled and tasted like a wet far. So this review requires a little bit of background. My husband, sister in law, and 2 Korean friends of ours and myself decided to dine here. Our Korean friends had been here before and had enjoyed it. This time, they were mostly disappointed. However my husband and I and our untrained taste were delighted and loved our dishes. Hence 4 stars. We had green tea, no barley tea this time. Had a fried pork appetizer and steamed Dumplings. Delicious!! I got the hot stone bibimbap with chicken and my husband got a hot stone dish of bulgogi. We really liked our dishes and would be back again! Our Korean friends have had much better and were less than impressed. So, if you are a Korean food expert you may be left with wanting more. Disappointed cause I walked in a couple days ago to look at the menu really wanted to try this place. A couple days go by and I decide to order. I call to place a order for pick up I wanted to order one of the sushi combos they had. 2 of the combos they had were the same price so I asked if I could switch them up since they are the same price. She said she does not do that I understood. So I wanted to buy just 2 rolls since in one roll in the combo I didn't like. Then I noticed the other combo was exactly what I wanted. I confused myself but when I called was still very understanding she would not accommodate this request for me. She was argumentative telling me she will just cancel my order when all I was trying to do was ask questions. Service was terrible. The sushi was very good, especially the green dragon roll. Korean pork barbecue was good too, although a bit more expensive than I would have liked.
