Everyone that was walking out of the store seems to be genuinely enjoying their food. Took a leap of faith and decided to try it out. Wow! It was amazing. It's basically a street food where they deep fried the rice ball (risotto?) with stuffing in it. I ordered two, one with cheese and rice and the other one was rice and oxtail. I really enjoyed the oxtail and I liked it so much that I came back again the second night for more. Like most Italian stores in the smaller neighborhood, people were friendly and try to explain to you what it is. I disagree with a previous reviewer that claim the staff didn't try to understand him. Come on, you are in someone else country! They don't have to try to understand you. However, my experience here was friendly. A good value place! I Suppli is in a humble little storefront with sparse seating in a calm street in Travestere. I came here for the suppli, and got their classic one, which I believe was just called simply "suppli." Can't quite remember the price but it was cheap for a small snack. My first time having suppli, and while I wasn't the biggest fan, I don't think it had anything to do with how they made it--just my personal preference! The cheese inside was nice and stringy, and the suppli was hot and greasy. What I most enjoyed from here was actually their zucchini blossoms! I didn't know what they were before, so was surprised to see they were literal deep fried flowers of the zucchini plant. The only negative is it is very crowded and chaotic. You got to order, pay, and get out. My husband and I ate our lunch on a bench, which I now believe might have been a bus stop bench, on the next street up. Excellent grab n' go snack or quick lunch in Trastevere with Roman-style pizza and fried risotto balls (supplì). This is a hole-in-the-wall packed with locals. It's standing room only inside and meant for grab n' go orders exclusively. There is a single chest-height table inside that you can stand and woof down your food if you so desire. They have several pizzas that are taken out of the oven, placed onto a warming tray, and cut into squares Roman style. But their specialty is the fried risotto balls called supplì. Though the menu on the wall lists some 20 versions, they only had about 4 varieties available at a time on both times we visited. I recommend getting the ones filled with minced meat. I don't know much Italian, so I just pointed to the darker supplì and discovered what was inside once I bit in. This place is a bit out of the way, but super glad I trusted all the reviews and came here. Our first stop in Rome for lunch! It is super small and busy, but that's when you know it's amazing!! We ordered two types of pizza, a pesto rice ball, tomatoes with rice and potatoes and roasted potatoes. The pizza was the best I've had in my first week throughout Italy. I got the one covered in sauce and drizzled with oil and no cheese. It even had a spicy and garlic kick to it. Indescribably delicious!! This was my first Pizza al Taglio in Italy and I am so pleased! I selected one piece of white pizza that looked like it had zucchini on it but I couldn't tell what else...it didn't matter...it was delish. They sell the pizza by weight of the slice so don't be shy to ask for a larger or smaller piece. The ingredients used so were simple and fresh. The cheese so fresh and pure, the tomato sauce slightly tart and perfect ratio but the crust was to die for!! Light, crispy and drizzled with olive oil. The slices are served by the square and go fast and sell out. The suppli which they are known for came as advertised! We happen to be in Rome on a Thursday, so we took the H Bus from Termini to Trastevere. We got to I Suppli around 11:30am and they said that they're gnocchi will be available at 12n. So we walked around and shopped, then came back. When we got back, it was more crowded with locals. We ordered the gnocchi and their suppli and arancini. The three of us ate for 10.50 Euros. And it was delicious! So worth the bus ride! There's only a couple of tables you can stand up and eat your food in, but it was crowded. So we found a bench down the street to sit on and eat our food. Nearby, you can go to Piazza Mastai where there are benches, and you can eat your food there. read more

This little shop turns out a lot of food to a steady stream of customers. This is a very small place, though there are a couple of high tables for you to grab your food to eat there. Most of their customers get theirs 'to go'. Go for the suppli, stay for the suppli. Their suppli is really good, so I suggest trying one of every flavor. For those that don't know what suppli is, its a deep fried rice ball stuffed with all kinds of goodness. There's usually a cheese or tomato based sauce in there. There's sometimes veggie or meat filling too. Or just cheese. When you have a combination of deep fried, sauce, cheese, rice, other good stuff- you cannot go wrong. We tried a parmesan cheese one that was beyond tasty. It had an alfredo sauce feel to it. The other one was the pepper one. This was tomato based with pepper and cheese. I think we arm wrestled over that last bite. While we were standing there eating our suppli, a huge tour group stopped outside and the tour guide popped in and grabbed 2 large trays of suppli to hand out to her tour group. People were going crazy over these rice balls of deliciousness. There was a pretty solid tie between the 2 types of suppli we tried. When you see a crowd of people inside/outside of a place like this... stop in. They definitely have great food.
