Supper is my favorite Italian restaurant in NYC from when I used to live in the east coast, and it was nice going back during my recent trip with girlfriends. I quite literally had the saddest "caesar" salad here. There were no croutons, barely any parm, and the dressing was Dijon mustard heavy / watery I never add salt and pepper to my entrees at restaurants, and I had to ask for some for my pasta. So may years of coming here and still very tasty. Here's what worked. We had filet of sole oreganata. That was really fresh and tasty and came with a few lemon potatoes. This I could eat often. The pasta limone is also a favorite. Here's the few dishes that were not my style. The Caesar salad had Dijon mustard mixed into the dressing which made it a tad spicier than it should be and changed the flavor. I won't order it again with that dressings. Wow. This place is incredible. At midnight after quite some drinks this felt like a Michelin star. Pretty expensive but fuck it I'll come back. Open kitchen concept rlly added to the experience and the staff/ service was on point. Sorry for the lack of pics but here's the food after we CLEANED the plates. ENTREES: lemon pasta, lamb bolognese, and chicken parm. Chicken parm stole the show for me, I'll be thinking about it for a while, the cheese was on point and the spaghetti w it was pretty standard but a nice touch. The lemon pasta was good but you have to add pile of Parmesan on top. The Parmesan was so fresh. I think I'd have liked the lemon pasta more if I'd gotten more light n lemony things with it but I was eating it with a side of heart burn n acid reflux so it didn't quite fit in. Lamb bolognese was also delicious. APPETIZERS: burrata and tomato so damn fresh and the basil rlly added to the experience. The bread with the beans- at first I was suspicious but when I realized the beans were spicy it was over. I don't know why I enjoyed this so much. Amazing food - horrible experience. Let's start with a good because I genuinely think that this restaurant is very good and everything we had was delicious. My seafood risotto was absolutely divine and I legitimately have zero complaints. The Caesar salad is basic, but good and everyone else enjoyed their mains such as the chicken Parm and other pastas. Now let me explain the bad. We were placed in a back room, at a long table with a random party of probably about 10 younger adults who had a speaker with them and spent the entire dinner, blasting music and screaming completely ruining our experience. I have no idea why we were placed at this table in this back room with them, but it couldn't have been worse. Not only did this ruin the experience, but because we were in the back room we were left by our waiter to the point where we had to get up and go up to the host and multiple times to ask where our waiter was for our food, water and drinks. The ambience of the rest of the restaurant seems lovely and I genuinely think this would've been a four or five star review had our experience not been the way it was as the food was great and the restaurant itself seems very nice. I went on a Saturday, specifically for the osso buco special. It didn't disappoint. The portion was generous, something that easily could be divided between two people. The sauce is rich and flavorful and it complimented the risotto Milanese perfectly. It was a LITTLE less tender than I'd like, for that I took off a star. Most of the veal was tender but there were some more rough bites. I also had the burrata salad which was huge and again something that easily could be divided between two people. The complimentary bread with olive oil and beans dipping sauce were awesome. Service was efficient and accommodating. This is a great date night or group gathering spot. It's ok for solo diners too of course but just know that you will be eating only half of what you're being served, maybe more than that! read more

Had 11 am brunch reservation, no wait, no problem. Most New Yorkers don't brunch this early which was in our favor. We sat outside. Was not rushed. Food was fabulous. Tasty and delish. Dessert and house made wine was spot on amazing! Service was prompt, polite and attentive. Would highly recommend! I used to live above this place which almost became a flex because it had such a good reputation. I've eaten there numerous times. It's super solid Italian. While I don't think it's the best in the city by any means, it makes more a wonderful dinner with friends or a good date spot. read more

Came here for a get together with my wife and daughter recently. I was told the restaurant had been around for many years with a consistent menu. I found the overall experience to be mediocre at best. The pasta dishes we had were very expensive for what they were. We ordered a prosciutto and fruit dish as a starter. It was extremely basic, small, and cheese looked like deli cheese from a slicer. We had a panna cotta dessert that we shared which was OK. The waiter was very nice but really underdressed and didn't give me clean vibes. On top of this, they only take cash. Sorry but I think you can get a much better quality of food and a better experience for your money elsewhere. read more

My friend put me on to Supper when I was asking where a good Italian spot was in the city. He gave me the heads up that it's cash only (thankfully!) and I went solo. Upon arrival, it gave a homey vibe that I often see in Italian spots. I sat at the bar to watch the chefs cook each meal. The blood orange margarita was ok being too sweet for me. I was given bread with a bean/olive oil dip and it was unique and tasty. A very yummy roasted garlic taste. My chicken parm with a side a sautéed kale was really good as well. The chicken parm was cooked well and came out nice and warm. The spaghetti was pretty good. I wish there was a sprinkle of basil on the cheese to deepen the flavor profile. The sautéed kale was really good; perfectly salted with yummy garlic shavings. The entree portion was big enough to share. I took the tiramisu to go and it's really good! Price-wise, it's expensive but I'll pay for good food and experience anytime. read more

This is an interesting place. Super cramped, impossible to walk in without bumping people in their seats, but it's actually a very pleasant and cozy atmosphere if you get sat at the right table. Wasn't a fan of the lychee martini (too sweet, needs more acidity) or the kale salad (no clue why there were jalapeños on top), but the spaghetti al limone and the salmon were both very, very good. I've only had bread with either olive oil, butter and/or balsamic vinegar. This was so good. The cannellini beans were perfectly soft and tasted like they were soaked in garlic. I was at Supper for a friend's birthday. We made a reservation for 7 people, and the check-in process was very seamless. As soon as we arrived, they showed us right to our table. The table was in the back of the restaurant in what looked like a wine tasting room. It was very cozy and perfect for groups and occasions. The room had a long communal table and its own bathroom. The waiter was very sweet and attentive. He was joking around with us and also gave us food and wine recommendations. The restaurant is known for its Spaghetti Al Limone and its Spaghetti Cacio e Pepe. I ordered the Spaghetti Al Limone, and it was excellent. It was creamy, and the lemon flavor brightened the dish. For wine, we ordered the Montepulciano and the Pinot Grigio. Both were great! The room we were in did get a little loud since it was small and had a bunch of people in it, but it didn't negatively affect our experience. This place! This spot changed my life when it comes to Italian food. The first time I tried years ago y got the lemon pasta. That is my go to and while I live in California it's a place I miss. We had a watermelon salad with balsamic (special) which was divine. As for cocktails, this is my favorite place to get an espresso martini. I'm not a huge espresso martini fan in general but here they just do it right. So it's my go to. This place is always packed. Make reservations , high energy and loud. Love love this place for dinner. It's beautiful to sit outside and enjoy a nice plate of pasta or a perfectly cooked piece of salmon with a glass of wine. I came here for brunch with my brother when he was in town and were searching for something with good vegetarian options. I will say that the regular brunch menu is pretty meh, but their specials hit. We got a polenta cake that was grilled covered in a mushroom sauce with different types of cooked mushrooms - DELICIOUS. I can still feel the tastes and textures of the meal, and I am craving it again. It was hearty and almost meaty (?) for being a vegetarian meal. We also got the eggplant parmesan, which was good in the fact that they don't fry the eggplant, but it was insanely cheesy and a huge portion even between the two of us. It pains me to downgrade my rating of Supper after so many years of loyalty. My husband and I have dined here every time we've visited NYC (2-3 times per year) since 2017. It was our favorite Frank Prisinzano restaurant, serving the best pasta al Limone we'd ever had. Sadly, the quality of food has recently declined. Our recent dinner was not bad, but the same dishes were a shadow of what they once were. The Spaghetti al Limone's buttery sauce lacked the bright acidity we had grown to love, and the Gnocchi Castelmagno was incredibly one note, even with the winter truffle supplement. The Shaved Fennel salad was fresh and nicely composed, albeit over salted. The complimentary bread with cannellini bean dip, wine selection, and service were wonderful as usual. It exudes an authentic old-world charm. This establishment is cash-only. I visited on a busy Friday evening and, regrettably, was seated near the walkway to the bathroom entrance. This resulted in several inadvertent brushes with waitstaff and customers as they walked past my table. The ambiance was otherwise reminiscent of NYC in the Godfather's era, with framed depictions of 'The Last Supper'. The kale gnocchi was an absolute revelation--a blend of red sauce, kale, and cheese that I would highly recommend. The chicken parmigiana was also delicious and evidently a staple dish. Came here with some friends and had a lovely time, however, not sure if I would return. The food was pretty tasty, however, I don't think the food is worth the price. One thing to note before coming here is that they are cash only. Normally, when places are cash only I feel like the prices are a bit cheaper, but Supper still had relatively high prices at about $28 per entree depending on what you order. Another reason why I think it wasn't the best experience is where we were seated. The restaurant was rather empty with most of the front available and some seating in the back of the restaurant opened. However, they seated me and my two friends in a tiny booth right next to the kitchen which made our environment rather hectic and squished. I got to try their version on garlic bread, some cheese appetizer, their take on bolognese and a dessert. My favorite dish of the night was the bolognese as it was one of the best I have tasted, but everything else was average. Overall, this wasn't one of those places I left feeling satisfied and would want to return to, but it wasn't bad. read more

Yes Yes Yes I recommend! I wanted to go to all of Frank Prisinzanos's restaurants in Manhattan and this was the last for me to get to. We were seated across from the kitchen and these were by far the BEST seats in the house. It was a tight squeeze for 4 of us in the booth but we felt like we were the luckiest to watch the hard working kitchen in action. It was so much fun to watch the pasta go into the pot and come out a short bit later onto plates with sauce or cheese added. Busy busy workers all hustling fast and all working so well together. A cute CASH ONLY Italian restaurant with a cute homey interior! We came by and ordered the Black Salt Caesar Salad, Spaghetti al Limone, and Priest Stranglers. The caesar salad was solid, but we didn't feel that the black salt added a ton to the dish. The Spaghetti al Limone was light and refreshing - almost dessert-y, not in a bad way. The Priest Stranglers had some interesting depth of flavour in the sauce, but while some of the pasta was a perfect al dente, some was a little undercooked. We went on a weekend but later at night. Service was a bit slow considering there were only about three other tables in the restaurant. I came here with the bf one weekday as I've had my eye on it for a while. First thing is that the ambience of this place is simply stunning. It has a bit of a rustic feel to it. Additionally the staff is kind and attentive. They have an option to open a bottle of wine and they charge you for the amount you drink. The starter bread was really good, like top 10 I've had, so we were excited for our main dishes. As for food, he chose the tagliatelle al ragu and I chose the lasagna. My lasagna was pretty good; however I and my bf felt that the tagliatelle felt like it was a bit underwhelming.
