I brought a fur coat to Suphi that I had thrifted, unsure if it was past its prime. Suphi let me know that he could try to fix it, but it was too old, and I would just be wasting my money. I asked him if there was any way I could try to salvage it myself, as I didn't want to toss it, and he spent some time walking me through things I could try. Suphi also explained-- and showed me on one of his coats-- why it was too old to fix, as well as what I should look for in the future. While I didn't actually buy anything from Suphi, I appreciated that he could have taken my money, but didn't. I just picked up the most exquisite coat from Suphi Furs. Suphi is an incredible artist, artisan, craftsman-you name it. Suphi has amazing skills, honed by years of practice. Suphi is a gentleman from the old world, and offers his skills and craftsmanship at this store. I bought a vintage mink floor length coat from a thrift store, but I knew I would never wear it out. I wanted to put it to good use and turn it into a blanket/throw, so I looked up some furriers, of which there are very few around. Suphi's store came up and I visited him on a whim. He was honest in his appraisal, willing to work on the coat, and accommodating of my budget (payment installments). After a couple of months, I now have a beautiful mink throw to show for it and I can't thank Suphi enough! read more

I was fortunate enough to inherit two mink stoles (which were the exact same color) one from my mother and one from my mother in law. Several years ago I took both to Suphi to have them made into a jacket. He designed and made a beautiful short jacket that I've worn every year since. I also inherited a mink coat from my mom which I never felt comfortable wearing because of the styling of the shoulders and length of the sleeves. Back to Suphi last summer. I picked it up today and the restyling is perfect. If you have a fur from your mom and you're not wearing it because of an outdated style, take it to Suphi. He'll work with you on a restyle and you'll be happy you made the decision, especially as cold weather sets in. Customer Beware!!!! This is a terribly unprofessional business. The owner is rude, unknowledgeable and does not take care of his customers. Make sure you check out all of your furrier options before giving this one even a moments thought. The worst part of my visit was waiting for over an hour ( even though I was the first to arrive in the morning ), while the owner waited on every customer that came in, expecting me to sit there and wait for him. And I had what should have been a very brief appointment ( no more than 20 minutes were required !) Truly the worst experience I have ever had with any business owner in my life. read more

Suphi's is unbelievable! The staff are so knowledgeable, friendly and sweet! I made the mistake of having one coat cleaned at Bloomingdales. I'll spare the details here but they misplaced it and completely overcharged me. Suphi gave a reasonable price and lots of advice on properly maintaining other furs. I dropped off my fur yesterday for cleaning, glazing and storage. I inherited the fur from my husband's family, and I didn't know anything about it. Suphi told me all about it, assessed its condition, and recommended an appraisal for insurance. Everyone we spoke to was wonderful and I felt comfortable leaving my fur there for the season. Suphi Furs is a very overpriced place and will charge you an arm and a leg for even the smallest thing. The owner also runs the fur store and thinks he is a high end courtier. Don't bother coming here if you care about overall value: good price plus good workmanship ! You have other options, this place only cares about riping you off. I came there for a minor alteration to my fur coat. The owner told me it will cost $650 in service cost and proceeded pointing out all the "other work" he needs to do on the piece thus justifying his high cost. I went to several other places that specialize in fur and leather alterations and the highest bid that I got for what I was looking for was $200. Big difference! The customer service experience was comic: I came with my coat and also picture of the fit I was look for. Instead of examining my piece, he started pulling some of his own merchandise and other client's coats that he was currently working on and persuading me to try them on in hopes of selling them or "order something similar". This is nuts! Shortly after a husband and trophy wife couple came in and Suphi forgot all about me :) The other shops care more about their clients and their needs, you have better options out there than this place. I had other people examine my own coat and description of what I was looking for with shortly after taking my measurements and showing where they would adjust my coat to achieve the shape I was going for. In short, going to Suphi Furs is like going to a luxury car dealership for car repairs. Yes you have the nice lounge area to relax with coffee and cookies, but the mechanic is the same guy that works down the street and charges 60% less. You pay a lot for his lounge, coffee, and cookies. For some people it's worth the money, others like me who know they can buy coffee and cookies elsewhere and need a specific job done well, this place is a joke. read more

I just picked up my remodeled mink coat and am so excited and happy. My original ranch mink coat purchased in the mid 1980's has a brand new look. Hooded, shorter, reversible with a hood, it's perfect. The outer shell is water resistant, the lining is mink but totally reversible. How great to get 2 new coats out of one that was 25+ years old! And the owner/designer is such a nice man and easy to work with. read more
