I've been a client of Glama Furs for years. The owner's never cease to amaze me. Their customer service is extraordinary. their work impeccable, and their showroom is always filled with beautiful furs. However, this review is about their commitment to loyal customers. Unfortunately, I had the misfortune of encountering a person who I'll state was definitely not a gentleman, as I was entering a restaurant he proceeded to plow by me and in the process spill his takeout food all over my mink coat! His only response was SORRY.. The ugly incident resulted in my mink being splashed with his food! I was devastated, by his rudeness and absolutely convinced my coat was damaged beyond repair! Luckily for me, when I reached out to GLAMA FURS they could not have been more kind! They assured me they would do whatever they could to restore my coat. Well, I'm happy to report they did not disappoint. My coat was completely restored and I couldn't be happier! This is the type of customer service that sets GLAMA Furs apart from the rest! A couple of years ago, I was impressed that Glama offered pickup service for storage. I paid the pickup person by check (which was cashed by Glama). They did not offer delivery, so I went to the store. I picked up the items, but I was asked to look up the payment, as they had no record of it! I've been storing my fur here for 15 years, and it always comes back glazed and fresh. Unliked most furriers, their cold storage is onsite, not sent to some warehouse where you don't know how it's cared for. Recently I had a tear in the arm and tried to repair it myself with fabric tape on the inside of the skin. DON'T do this. It disintegrated the skin which then created multiple tears. Glama fixed the damage so my coat will survive another season. This is a family-owned business, with the son and mom after the father's passing last year. They know their 7000 storage customers by name. If you are considering leather or Canada Goose coats, why look like everyone else? Fur and fur lined is also natural and warm. I bought mine second hand, and it looked like new. I've had it 20 years. They also have great holiday gifts for the person who is hard to buy for including real fur scarfs and cuddly teddy bears. The salesman explained to me that he had another weirdo - "a black man" - looking for a fur coat, that he got 1 or 2 men looking for fur coats a year. What a wonderful experience. Someone in Winchester recommended Glama Furs in Peabody to repair a rip in my mink coat. I drove my coat to Peabody and met "Manny" the owner. He was delightful and very knowledgeable - I got quite an education. My coat was expertly repaired and treated at a very reasonable price. My wife's mom recently passed away and left her a 65 year old fur jacket that has tremendous sentimental value but in need of some TLC. Given it's age and delicate condition, we couldn't just take it to a dry cleaner as it would have fallen apart in the cleaning process. So, I did some research, checked around and discovered Glama Furs and Manny in Peabody, MA. Manny was honest about the condition of the fur and told us he would clean it and repair some of the dry areas where a few holes appeared. He did a phenomInal job and gave the jacket new life. He probably could have charged us a lot more but was truthful and honest about what he could and couldn't do. The end result came out much better than what I had expected and my wife was very pleased. t's wonderful to fInd people in this world who are honest, professional and caring. I love Glama Furs...and especially Manny and Fo. Their kindness, professionalism and abject joy when a customer and friend walks in (me!), always brings a smile to my face. For 16 years, they have cared for and stored my coats, even those I didn't purchase from them; sold me beautiful pieces; and would always take items in trade. Talk about full service! Plus the quality of Manny's workmanship is beyond compare. My fondest memory is when he literally talked me off the ledge after my kitty got sick on my full length fur. I called horrified (my own fault for not properly hanging it up...of course Jef-with-one-F curled up on it...you would, too), watching and crying as the fur just melted away (worth remembering: kitty bile and fine pelts do not mix)! I drove down to the shop right away...Manny expertly cut out the damaged portion of the pelt and replaced it...and when he finished, I could not find the seam or a change in pelt color. Glama Furs is what a furrier should be. I had an older fur jacket that I was going to change to a vest and a fur that was my Mother's. Mr Manny suggested a hoodie for the vest and had one available. Glama Furs, located in Peabody MA., is not only a strong example of both high quality but also exceptional customer service. The owners strive to meet every detail, expectation, and request their customers have (many of which have been going back to them for years). In addition, the owners make you feel as if you're family (truly- I don't think there is a customer that they don't know on a first name basis). That type of business to customer relationship is difficult to find in this day and age. Glama also consistently works to trend set and offer a multitude of various services that help their customers in any way possible with their new or existing furs. There is no pressured sales tactics either, which, I find most people appreciate when shopping. And while I appreciate the previous reviewee's opinion on fur, and I too am an animal lover (I saw the video that was referenced as well), it's important to look at each situation on a 'case by case' basis. I find that review meritless in that respect. The owners of this establishment are hard working people, having made a living learning this trade and built a means to provide for their families and loved ones. In addition, I think many of us have used or chose not to use products that have affected both negative or positive, animals and/or the environment. I think it is important to be informed & have an opinion, but also appreciate and understand the differences of lifestyle and values regarding this subject. read more

This place has apparently been in business for years and it all makes sense. I ripped a rabbit fur jacket and wanted it fixed by Christmas. The furrier was more than helpful. Although he currently didn't have black rabbit fur to match my jacket, he suggested black Mink. Since the rip was in the armpit, the mink replacement was undetectable. I've purchased several over many years, in addition to scarves and accessories - great customer service across the board, no hard sell (but good deals!). There are a fair number of fur stores in the area, I suspect, but Manny is a life-long furrier and a joy to deal with so this is the real deal... After yet another disastrous experience with IJ Fox-Harris & Klaff in Boston and after 20+ years of bringing my coat to them, I once again realized that IJ never inspected my coat while they had it for the spring/summer because if they did, the 4 tears would have been notices. When I called them, I was told that they would eventually repair it but they were busy! I came across Glama on this site and thought I would call. OMG, I instantly knew I found my new furrier. The knowledge, professionalism and caring for my coat was beyond exceptional. The owners went through my coat and then had it repaired the next day. They also thanked me for driving from Boston. I would drive to another state to have this type of customer service. I know I will be bringing both my coats in the spring to them and have already recommended them to others. Stay away from this store. The shearling they sold me (a $2000 coat) ripped about a week after I bought it and all of the buttons began falling off. Rather than replace the coat, which they should have done since it was obviously defective, Manny, the owner, said he would repair it, which meant sewing the rip which ruined the coat. A legitimate business owner would have admitted selling me defective merchandise and replaced the coat. Do yourself a favor and find a more reputable furrier. read more

I bought a sheared beaver coat from Glamafurs a few weeks ago. Manny altered it for me as needed, and I love it! He is wonderful to work with, he was quick, the coat is gorgeous. There was no pressure, I tried on coats for a long time, and had a lot of fun doing it. I expect to have this coat a long time, and will love it each time I put it on. I have been going to this place for years to store my furs. They check them to see if any repairs are needed, Before putting them into storage they check them again and if any repairs are needed they call you. When I took my coats out and went to wear one of them I noticed the hem was completely down. I brought the coat down and the woman told me the owner wasn't there but it should only cost around $25.00 so I said go ahead and fix it. When I went to get the coat the owner told me it was $75.00. I paid it but can you imagine - I could have done it myself. Hence, I WILL NEVER bring my coats there again and I encourage anyone who does business (as I WILL NEVER DO AGAIN) with them to be sure to ask the "crook" owner how much. read more

Great place for your furries to go on summer vacation...hanging with the cool crowd in an temperature controlled vault. The best they have ever been treated... when you arrive in the fall they are presented fully dressed and looking more like the day they were created by a master furrier. I recommend all my friends to consider using their cleaning and storage services.
