Back in July 2014, I spent over a week in Denver. I drove my friend and I up to Boulder one day and…read morespent the day together. She had recommended visiting Twenty Ninth Street. It's designed to look like a neighbourhood, but it's essentially an open mall with its centre used for music and arts events when it's warm outside. I parked in an indoor parking lot. It's free. We then walked over to the mall. There is a decent selection of stores. I recall visiting a handful of them that are worth of mentioning: - Apple store, where I got a keychain lightning connector that you can sync and charge your iPhone - Sephora, where I got my free birthday beauty gift (works in both the States and Canada when you are a beauty insider member) - Papyrus, where I used an e-mail offer to buy three cards and get one for free We spent a lot of time listening to various musical bands play smack in the middle of the mall. We sat there and had a nice time. Folks were dancing and having a blast. It was pretty seeing the Rocky Mountains as the natural backdrop. There were also food vendors around. We had already eaten lunch, so we didn't get anything. Folks here were nice no matter which store I was in. I enjoyed my time here. (264)

This South Boulder shopping center has undergone a major renovation in the last year. It was quite…read morethe place to shop out of the downtown Boulder area back in the 1980's but in the last two decades it had lost many of its traditional tenants. As the vacancies were remedied by upstart south Boulder branches of several popular eateries and a major grocery along with the relocation of a few other businesses, it began to fill up. And then the Center itself began a major remodel a year ago. Redesigned parking, landscaping, sidewalks, entrances etc and it is now mostly done. I find myself using this shopping center much more again. Under the Sun, Pharmaca, Sweet Cow, Shuttles, Spindles and Skeins, the venerable Weaver's Dive and Travel and Neptune Mountaineering. And the brand new branch of Moe's Bagels and at this time of year, a convenient H & R Block. I see lots of patrons at Southern Sun, Walnut Cafe Southside, Murphys South, Snarfs, Play it Again Sports and of course, the big new Luckys. I am glad to see this renovation. I used this center a lot back in the 80's when there was a family owned bookstore, a children's clothing store, a mini department store (Eakers), a Hallmark Card shop, a Baskin Robbins, etc. It looks so good again. I will certainly be shopping here as there are now so many nice options.

I was so excited about a new Barnes & Noble opening in the Superior Marketplace, and it did not…read moredisappoint! The space is inviting for both adults and children, beautifully designed with various sections, including fiction, non-fiction, mystery, sci-fi, young adult and more. In addition to books, you'll find toys, gifts, an extended vinyl collection, and a coffee shop. Be sure to check their website for events like book signings. Shopping local just got so much easier and enjoyable! I could spend all day at this new location!

We recently visited this Barnes & Noble in a community not far from Boulder, whose Barnes & Noble I…read morehave used for decades. I had called the Boulder store for a book on local wildflowers that my husband needed for a project. Not surprisingly at this time of years, they were sold out. I asked if the Superior store had any, knowing that it is a smaller store and may have less stock . I was told the computer listed one in stock. It is rare for a single copy to actually be there, given the fact that copies "disappear" from time to time or are damaged and moved off of the shelves. I have had several years in bookstore management experience so I called the store, ask a staff member to look for it and pull it to save until we could get here in about 30 minutes. The staff member did just that, found it and reserved it behind the counter. We headed right out and entered the store in 20 minutes. It's easy to find, adjacent to the Costco in that shopping center. I had only recently heard that this store even existed. It is attractive and bright with very nice displays. I noted one that I intended to read but since I am limited to audiobooks because of low vision, I passed up the display here. But years ago, I would have grabbed on the spot. Both the staff member on the phone and the one in person that we met, were quick to help. Parking was plentiful and free. If Boulder had it in stock, I could have taken a bus, right to the front door.
