Martin did a great job replacing the exterior window trim of a upper level window frame that had some dry rot.

After contacting a total of six companies to consider for the job of replacing our siding, windows, gutters, and painting the siding, we decided on Superior exterior systems. The original representative that we spoke with impressed my husband and I because of how genuinely thorough he was in explaining the process and providing a very detailed, itemized list of the cost. The total cost was very reasonable as well, especially for the quality of the products we received. The office staff was excellent! The siding crew was excellent! The window crew was excellent! The gutter installation crew was excellent! However, we are not completely satisfied with the way the painting crew handled the paint project for our home. In our opinion our home should not have been painted in November because of the cold weather. They stated it would be fine. In addition, protocol was not followed by the painting crew. My husband and I found spots on the finished paint job where we could see the primer. When we asked for the documentation that showed the thickness of the paint applied in the two coats that were required, they hesitated to respond, and when they did respond they told us that they forgot to measure and document the thickness of the paint applied. A paint crew member did return to spot paint the areas in question. We would welcome a different painting crew that would do the job during a warmer season and document the thickness of the paint so that we would have written proof that it was done correctly. We are expecting the one-year follow-up inspection from the owner of Superior Exterior Systems on 10.8.24. read more

It's always tough hiring a contractor to do major work on your house. You read the reviews and wonder how many are really true. Word of mouth is always the best recommendation you can get, but that's not always possible. So, you call several contractors after vetting them out to see if anything sticks. I called Superior Exterior Systems (SES) and talked with Alanna to setup a time for someone to come out to bid my south wall project. She was quite friendly and we had a fun conversation. Her friendliness was sincere and right away SES was feeling like they might be a good choice. Ricky is our project manager with SES. Yes, even though the project has been completed, he is still our project manager. More on that later. Ricky and I hit it off right out of the box. He listened intently and sincerely when I explained the issues with our south wall. We discussed a plan of attack and what were the best options. I was presented with a professional pamphlet with material related to my project. No other contractor offered anything other than showing up with little personality and telling me how they were going to fix my house. SES was the clear choice here, but still there are so many unknowns. It was Alanna and Ricky that made this happen. SES is also James Hardie certified so that also helped me make my decision. So, I pulled the trigger and we were set! And then the fires hit and no one could breathe. Jobs and factories (Milgard) were shut down for two weeks. And then Milgard had a COVID-19 outbreak at their local factory. But, through it all, Alanna and Ricky kept me informed every step of the way. In a way I am (almost) thankful for the delays because it proved even more that SES was the right choice. Happy New Year! Yes we began the project the first week of January and it could not have gone any better. The SES crew is very skilled and detail oriented. They truly understand and stick to James Hardie specifications and Milgard installation procedures. Proper flashing and weather protection is so important and I finally now have a proper, weather protected home. The dry rot was investigated and fully repaired to industry standards and that south wall that was such a worry for us for so many years is now a beautifully completed project. We have a patio cover going up soon and paint to follow. We have fallen in love with our home all over again. That you Superior Exterior Systems! The support from SES does not end after that last nail is placed. We had a minor defect with one of the windows. Alanna and Ricky teamed up for us to handle this issue with Milgard without delay and Milgard is due next week to resolve that issue. I also received a follow up phone call from Chad, the owner of SES and an email from co-owner Michelle, to ensure I was completely satisfied with the project. I cannot recommend SES enough here. They work with you to complete your project. Chad and his team recently replaced our entire roof, all of our siding, added a new window, replaced our foundation vents, replaced our sliding patio door, and replaced two exterior doors. Thank you, Ricky!! We had our siding project of our one level, 1,200 sq ft home completed early November 2019. ABSOLUTELY recommend this company because: 1. Fabulous customer service 2. Genuine people; we had a couple of different quotes and other representatives were way too slick, obviously just trying to earn as big a commission as possible. Ricky was warm and attentive, listened to our needs and didn't try pushing us for something we couldn't afford. 3. So FAST: Initially our quote stated it could take up to 8 days. We expected at least a week. The subcontractors had our project done in 3 days! For anyone who has had construction on their property with a toddler in the house, this was a blessing! 4. Quality: Absolutely 10/10, though it was quick, they did an incredible job and everything looks perfect. 5. Warranty: Lifetime warranty with James Hardie Plank for additional work (30 year warranty for the actual product I think? Check with Superior for more details I suggest.) Thank you again. Called to get an estimate appointment scheduled and Bill called back and said they wouldn't even come out and do an estimate because the job was too small. He then tried to blame this on the insurance company. I find this ridiculous considering every other company had no problem coming out. When we initially called Michelle we thought we just needed a small dry rot repair, and while that is not Superior's focus, she offered to have Jason come out and take a look. Other companies had essentially told us they weren't interested in coming out, based on our description, so we were happy to hear that. In the meantime, we discovered additional areas that had problems, so when we talked to Jason we asked him how the issues could best be resolved. He came up with a few different options, from having someone else do some patches, to residing a couple walls, to residing the whole house. He was NOT pushy, but was very informative. He answered our many questions and spent a ton of time with us. Chad, Michelle's husband, also talked to us over the phone about technical issues. After much discussion we decided to have the whole house resided with Hardie Plank. They were able to fit us in to their schedule quickly, and Chris, Mike and Mikey came up to do the job. It rained a couple of the days, but they did what they could on those days and made sure everything was installed as specified by the manufacturer. And there are a lot of specs! The guys were really nice and again answered our questions and ASKED questions to make sure everything happened the way we wanted it to. We are glad we ended up having the whole house resided because we discovered additional areas that were starting to rot. The crew cut out a 12" strip at the bottom of the T1-11 that was on the mobile home and replaced it securely with plywood. They used that as the base for the Hardie Plank and the house is now beautiful and quieter and very well sealed against the weather. The crew was excellent at measuring and cutting - everything looks perfect. We chose to paint the house ourselves, but they also offer that service. We are happy with the siding and the way it was installed and very happy with the customer service and excellent communication throughout the process and beyond. I too had the dreaded LP and this year was the year it had to be removed. I wasn't expecting to do it this year and therefore, had not budgeted for it, but anyone who is a homeowner knows these things seem to come up when you least expect it. I went with this company because they took the time to thoroughly explain every detail of what would be done to my house and why. I'm the type that is really hands on when it comes to my most precious investment so I appreciate the details. I always like to see how things are put together and repaired and they had no problem with me being present to monitor the work, which was good since I had to make sure some things that were supposed to be done got done since the main foreman was out of town that week. I am very picky about my house and they seemed to maintain patience with me. In addition to the unexpected cost of the siding that I had resigned myself into having to pay for this year, a huge extra problem came up! The main foreman noticed, upon giving me my quote, that the bottom backing of my fireplace needed to be replaced since it was rotting. He was even going to include that repair in the bid. That made an impression on me since that was going above and beyond, since it was not part of the problem area, so I thought; and would have never known about it if he didn't point it out. I'm so thankful that he did. It gave me a very uneasy feeling when he pointed out that he could feel the old siding beneath rotting, because that was the one area that I thought the LP had been removed over 10 years ago and Hardi Plank put over. Problem is the lousy contractor that did that job left the rotting LP siding underneath and just slapped on the Hardi Plank over it!!! Hence why it is ALWAYS good to monitor all work done on your home!! So I had to pay double what I was initially quoted due to major carpenter ant damage that had occurred to the structure of my fireplace surround. I think the additional costs was fair, but I really didn't have the luxury of shopping around since this had to get repaired asap. The company seemed to do a good job, time will tell I guess, but they assured me that there is a life time warranty on leaks etc. This was a difficult experience since I'm the sole provider of income in my household, but this company seems honest and I will have them back next summer to do the last two sides of my home as they also have LP siding and I want it all eradicated. Also I need to match up the rest of my house with lap siding now. They even worked with me well in doing my home in sections, part this year and the rest next year. I'm the type that likes to pay things off before acquiring more debt. I wouldn't hesitate to recommend this company. Note: Yelp inquires wheather or not this company takes credit cards. I made the right decision when choosing this company to put new siding on my house. They did an absolutely amazing job..my house looks completely different and I can't stop looking at it! It's BEAUTIFUL! The company was a pleasure to work with. From the owner Chad who personally kept in touch with me consistently during the project to make sure everything was going well...right down to the workers who arrived at my house diligently every morning. They were pleasant and well mannered and kept the construction area clean and safe for my little ones.
