I asked 4A Roofing to come out to take a look at some mold areas and possible leaks in my townhome attic. The technician complained a bit about how difficult it is to get townhome owners to change the roof at the same time, despite me explaining that I will do whatever repairs need to be done to my home. He went up into the attic, came back down and said "it doesn't look too bad up there." I'm glad I decided to get more vendors to take a look at the issues, because it turns out all my ventilation design needs to be changed, I have wood rot, and several leaks where the mold is growing. We had 4A Roofing put on a new roof for us last month. They were wonderful! We'd done three bids with some of the highest rated companies in Vancouver and Dain's bid was the most detailed. The other companies' bids didn't spell everything out. It was very simple for us to tell exactly what we were getting from 4 A Roofing. Dain uses his company staff not subcontractors. Dain's staff were easy to communicate with, and the onsite foreman was actually onsite - not like some other contractors where the foreman just checks in periodically. Of the initial 4 folks who came out 2 wrote it off as siding 1 couldn't find anything, and only 4A/Dain both took me seriously and found the leak. He was extremely personable during the site visit and made a real effort to explain what was going on while he was looking over the roof. His quote arrived promptly and included photos so that I knew what/where the problem was. His quote was middle of the pack -- neither cheapest nor most expensive -- but the attention to detail and his willingness + ability to clearly communicate left me feeling it was the best value by far. He is friendly, open, unguarded. He checked out my roof leak (on a house under 6 years old) and showed me photos. He gave me a fair estimate and suggested upgrades to my vents. His contract was interesting. It was more thorough than any I've seen and showed the homeowner's financial exposure, likely a boiler plate, but who does that? The work was done quickly. After the work was done, I noticed a gutter leak that I had not noticed before. He came out to look at it and had his people repair it although we had a difference of opinion on the source of the leak. I discovered a leak in my laundry room ceiling over the weekend. I had plans to go out of town the following week and was worried I wouldn't be able to get it fixed and that I would come home to a flooded and damaged home. I called 4A Roofing Sunday evening and someone immediately answered the phone and said he could send someone out to inspect the next day which surprised me. Monday morning Damian stopped by on time and inspected the attic and the roof. He located the damage quickly. He explained they could install a tarp due to the time constraints and they were booked for the next 3 weeks. I gave the approval to install the tarp, but to my surprise, Damian called back not too long after departing. After speaking with his boss and explaining my situation, they dispatched a small crew to repair my roof. They came out that afternoon and repaired my roof. Damian was so polite and personable. These guys are amazing! My wife and I found a leak in our master bathroom and within a day they were out to do a quote. Because it was leaking they put us at the top of the list and we were able to get the issue resolved within two days. The owner was in constant contact with us and gave really quick communication letting us know what was happening and give us a very accurate quote. They were even able to provide us pictures so that we can submit it to our homebuilder to get reimbursed since we were in a fairly new home. This company is amazing! Today I called near tears as water was leaking through the roof due to the snow. Dain was able to send someone within 25 minutes of my call. Michael arrived and discovered our attic was full of snow and the water was leaking through the fire sprinklers. I actually expected him to leave since it wasn't technically a roofing issue. I'm giving 6 stars out of five. Unbelieve professionalism, quality control, workmanship, efficiency and communication. Can't recall a better experience with a service provider. 4 A wasn't the cheapest, but they were in the range that made sense. Some quotes were so ridiculously high they made you laugh or angry and others were low and led to the belief they weren't qualified or serious. Dain was able to come up with a good solution for our low-slope roof that looked good and didn't break the bank, while ensuring long-term protection. He sent a large crew that banged out the job in two days. All of them knew their stuff and were long-term employees or partners, not day laborers thrown on a job. . . . Communication was frequent. 4 A didn't install some features that were in the estimate after determining they weren't needed once the old roof was off, a sign of credibility and savings that were appreciated. . . Clean up and attention to detail was excellent. . . The crew was able to fix up the mortar on my crumbling chimney and flash several areas. . . . We are completely satisfied with the work from 4 A. I contacted them to have someone come out to do a roof repair estimate, which they did. After several days, they emailed me an estimate and I was ready to go with it. Then the next day, I got a another email telling me to disregard the first email since "the wrong measurements were used." They said they would send me a new estimate. Several more days went by.....no new estimate. So I emailed them back and got no response...they disappeared. I still have not heard back from them and it's been 2 weeks now. So I went with another place who gave me an estimate via email, came out in 2 hours and did the job, all in the same day. I am on the war path and on the rag when it comes to this roof and my leaf guard gutters. I will be posting my review of leafguard when they decide to come out so my roof leaks at a particular part and it's because of the way the roof is installed and the way the leaf guard gutters have tilted over the last 13 years that they've been on the house. This guy came out and gave me an honest quick assessment I've had other roofers come out and say they needed to replace the whole roof isn't that laughable and I had one a hole who gave me an estimate who never even came out. So between all the people who've come out I have finally figured out what's wrong with my roof and it's a combination of gutters and roof what a big f****** joke. Leave guard said they will fix what they need to fix and the roofer who put this roof on this house 3 years ago said he would replace his part.
