I don't usually write reviews, but after our recent experience, I felt it was worth sharing. My daughter had her 2007 vehicle towed to Superior Auto Service in Bryan, TX after experiencing an issue. Before the car even arrived, she described the problem to me, and I consulted with a trusted local mechanic who was fairly confident it was a worn bushing on the automatic transmission shift cable. We asked her to pass that information along to the shop. When the shop inspected the car, they confirmed that this was indeed the issue. However, they still charged $199 for the diagnosis--even though we had already provided that information upfront. We were then quoted over $700 for the repair: approximately $50+ for the part and $650+ in labor. Wanting a second opinion, I checked back with our mechanic. He told us the pricing seemed extremely high. He ended up ordering multiple bushings online for around $8 total, and we drove up to have him fix it. The repair took less than 15 minutes with basic tools--quick, straightforward, and without any complications. Of course, I understand that shops need to charge for their time, expertise, and overhead, and I fully expect to pay fairly for quality service. However, the difference between what we were quoted and what the job actually required felt excessive and hard to justify. I'm sharing this simply so others--especially fellow Texas A&M families sending students off with vehicles--can be aware and consider getting a second opinion if something doesn't seem right. Transparency and fair pricing go a long way in building trust, and unfortunately, this experience left us questioning both. I came to this place to fix my broken AC and change my break pads. AC was fixed fine, but the break pads were squeaky after I picked it up for the first time. Took it back and they said it was defective pads -- which sure, all good, that's out of your control. After the second replacement the brake pads were fine, but a couple months go by and the squeak is back and very loud. That on top of multiple miscommunications for when the car would be ready was not appreciated. Especially when thousands of dollars were spent. read more

Don't come here if you're not willing to drop $700 for a service you could get cheaper elsewhere. My cousin took her car the day prior to get it checked for the brake pads and after receiving the estimate, she decided to go elsewhere. Mind you, it was ONLY for a check up on her brakes. She was not wanting any service done unless she really needed it. The following day, they did not want to give her back her car and told her they "legally" couldn't do so because it was a danger. Even though, that's not a law anywhere and her car was drivable. She did not sign any waiver or contract stating so. We had to threaten them with the sheriff for taking advantage of a little girl for them to give her back her car. She ended up getting it back and buying the parts for $70 and is currently getting them replaced at another shop. Please be wise when choosing your mechanic even if it's a check up. read more

Superior Auto Service has received my business twice now within the past school year. This second time dealt with replacing leaking power steering hoses. Dan, the owner, provided diagnosis costs, parts and labor costs once the problem was known, and called me each step of the process for the go ahead. I dropped off my truck right at 7:30 A.M. and picked it up that same day around 3:30 P.M. Dan let me know that the power steering issue was fixed and also informed me that due to the leak that the power steering pump received extra wear due to the lack of fluid within the tank. Rather than replace the pump and add that cost into the repairs, Dan informed me that at some point the pump would need to be replaced. Dan will find the problem with your vehicle and fix it as quickly as he can for a good price. He does not try and cheat you in any way to get more money. DO NOT GO HERE if you're looking for an honest business!! Last summer, I brought my truck here to change out my headlights with some aftermarket headlights, which required splicing of the some lights into the high beams. I recently took my truck in to do a simple oil and brake fluid change at Jiffy Lube and they instantly realized there had been obvious tampering with the brake master cylinder of my truck. Upon examination, the connector on the master cylinder which connects to the electronic brake assist is either completely heard off or the entire brake master cylinder has been replaced with a different model without my knowledge. The wiring done on my headlights which Superior Auto performed is directly beneath my brake master cylinder, meaning at its location this wiring could not have been accomplished without the removal of the brake master cylinder. The mechanic who discovered this thinks that when I had the wiring done, they likely broke the brake master cylinder and rather than telling me this, replaced it with one they found in the shop which DID NOT allow for electronic brake assist. This makes the vehicle dangerous to drive when towing heavy loads. Well the reason I was installing the headlights was because I was getting ready to go on a 6000+ mile trip in my truck, over 2000 miles of which I was towing a large trailer filled with several thousand pounds of furniture and household items. This dangerous trip could have ended very badly, all because Superior Auto didn't want to admit to wrongdoing and pay the less than $100 to replace this (I payed over $300 just to get the headlights replaced). I even reached out to them, explaining everything and offering them proof of all of this and asking them for nothing more than to replace the brake master cylinder, and they never responded. So I see no other course of action than to write this review along with contacting the BBB about this misconduct. In conclusion, only go here if you want your vehicle to be dangerous to drive and you enjoy overpaying lying mechanic scum. read more

The worst. Had my truck for 2 days and never even looked at it. When I called, they tried to BS me by saying they found the noise I brought it in for - except I didn't bring it in for making a noise. Cost me 2 days of work. If I could give them a negative I would. read more

I came here for my car inspection. The manager really knows how to treat the customer, when answering my call and when talking to me in the office. I didn't wait too long because he made appointment for me when I called, so he could ensure there will be someone to take care of my car once I arrive there. Even if I wait longer doesn't matter because the office is neat and comfy although it's not big. And the last but not least, I was surprised with a thank you note and a box of cookies in the car when leaving. Thank you, Dan! read more

I loved how friendly and personable Dan was here. While my inspection took just a little longer than I was used to, it was completely worth it. I have faith that they checked everything well, and meanwhile I was offered refreshments and a comfy seat. He let me go and just told me I really need new tires (which is true, I've been putting off forever), so he didn't try to charge me for any unnecessary things. I left to a thank you note with a box of cookies in my car, AND got a letter in the mail later thanking me for my patronage. I wish people did things like this more often today... I have had many friends recommend Superior Auto Service over the years. I did not have a good experience there, but have heard consistently good things about them, as recently as a year ago. Many years and 3 cars ago, I had a cheap Ford Escort in need of air conditioning service. I brought the car in to Superior, on a friend's recommendation, and made it clear I needed to know what repairs would be needed before they proceeded. The guy at the counter informs me that there's a leak in one of the hoses. He described what components of the A/C system would need to be replaced, due to exposure to moisture (humidity). I decided to shop around, and asked what the bill was so far, since all I asked them to do was inspect the A/C system. I was shocked to learn they were charging me for $50.00 worth of refrigerant! Now this was the old freon R-12 that was discontinued later, but was still required to be handled by licensed techs, and had to be pumped into a tank when removed from an A/C or other system. And as it was before the price of freon went up dramatically after the mandated phase-out, It still boggles my mind how the tech could have vented that much freon without noticing. Seriously, there's a pressure gauge on the recharge line. Did the guy go to lunch while the A/C was filling. I couldn't argue my way out of even part of it, so I never returned. I should have asked for the owner, but I was both young, and chronically late. I can tell you that now, if confronted with such a situation, I would get satisfaction. That isn't the same as being happy, and becoming a repeat customer, but I would not accept that now. I had difficulty with this review, because I couldn't see slamming the owners of this shop, with such a good reputation, because they hired a fucktard technician years ago, who was probably just covering his own ass, and may have been canned soon after. So I compromised a bit of indignation, and gave them 3 stars. read more

I've been using this service for years and they're great! They're always helpful and the job gets done right. I like that they give you an estimate before they start work and stick to it or call and let you know. You can get dropped off or get a rental car while they're working - which is really nice, because I 'm usually pretty busy. They have the rental car right at the garage. I had shocks and struts replaced on my vehicle. The place was fabulously friendly, which was nice. But, I found the exact parts for 1/4 of what I was charged online. I expect to pay more than online for parts, but 165% higher is excessive. While I was planning on taking in my wife's vehicle next week, I will probably just go elsewhere where the parts prices are more in line with the market. Also, most places waive the vehicle evaluation fee when you get the work performed there, which was not done. read more

I called CarDocs down the road, they quoted $1100 initially, but when he saw it, determined that it did not need the hoses or the headlight- Final price $919 read more
