I came into town for my niece's graduation at Texas A&M, and my car's air conditioner had been blowing hot for months. I couldn't imagine driving back to Houston in that heat, so I stopped at a place called Car Doc Automotive. Right away, I was greeted by the kindest service advisor, Hellen Crocker. I originally stopped just to get some air in my tire, but I mentioned the AC problem, and Hellen told me they could check my Freon--and even asked if I was military to apply a discount (which I appreciated so much!). The price was fair and honest, so I said yes. Then the mechanic came out and actually showed me why the Freon was leaking. They took photos and showed me where a part had been bent--something no other shop had pointed out, even though I'd taken my car in over six times at a chain store. They also showed me how bad my cabin filter looked and kindly recommended replacing it. Hilaree Buckley, the office manager (and the mechanic's wife!), explained everything clearly and gave me full confidence in what they were doing. As a single lady, it's a great joy to have found Car Doc--especially when I've had people say, "You got robbed," after past car services. This shop is different. It's family-owned, honest, and truly Texas-friendly. I was just passing through, but I'd seriously come back from Houston just to have them work on my car. They went above and beyond, and right now I'm sitting in my car feeling cool air for the first time in over a year! It's blowing colder than I ever remember. Helen was fantastic! I went in for a low tire pressure light on my car. She went and looked at my tires and pointed out where on my car that it showed proper tire pressure and tire size. One star is too generous. After collecting $1500 from our college student for a repair, my son did not even get out of their parking lot when a very loud clicking sound began and went on perpetually without stop. This clicking was absolutely non-existent when he turned the vehicle into them, nor, even more importantly, did they mention a word of this new clicking development, when they took his money and sent him on his way. Immediately contacted them, and the manager was arrogant and unapologetic, stating it was an unrelated issue to their repair. Do NOT send your Aggie student here! read more

The service was friendly, but far from professional. We were charged a lot of money, and our vehicle was not repaired even though we told them what was wrong with it we live four hours from college station, and the vehicle broke down on the way home with the issue that we told them. The same day my father's vehicle was in that shop. He's 87 years old and from out of town and his bill was $400 more than he was told when he dropped it off. The bill was supposed to be $100 and it was $550. I should add that this is my first bad review. I don't normally give bad reviews but this one was warranted. read more

Dropped my 850 hp $90,000 ZR1 Corvette off on a Friday for an oil change. Saturday morning I received a call from CarDocs stating my "baby" had been in an accident! Your humor isn't funny, I told the caller!! But, alas it was true. So very sad but so true. The owner of CarDocs, after the oil change was completed grabbed a female employee (do your own math here) and took my high performance car for a test drive THROUGH THE DITCHES OF HIGHWAY 6!!!!! A witness saw what she thought was a get away car leaving the seen of a robbery because of the erratic driving and called College Station police, she stayed with the car the whole time she was on the phone with PD. The owner of CarDocs RIPPED THE CARBON FIBER GROUND EFFECT TRIM COMPLETELY OFF THE CAR ($5,000) destroyed all four rims ($8,000) and one tire ($600) and CarDocs insurance is now trying to determine the total physical cost of repairs AND how much to pay me for "diminished value" now that my car has been in an accident! I would give 10 stars if I could. I brought my car in because it had a funky smell on long drives and Aaron + his team spent 7+ hours trying to identify the smell. It was an unusual case and they didn't want to charge me for unnecessary repairs so only charged for the $90, 1 hr diagnostic even though he kept my car for over 5 hours trying to find the source. He could've taken and earned money off other cars during that time, but when questioned about it, his response was "I dont want you to be worried or stressed about driving your car". I'm a young woman, and bringing my car to new businesses is always a huge question mark. I HAVE NEVER FELT SO SECURE, SAFE, AND TRUSTING, as I have with this business. Yes they're a bit pricier, and im a broke college student but as long as I live in college station, I will never bring my car anywhere else. While the source smell ended up not being an issue to my car, their team offered to take it home to see if the smell procured and offered immediate service if I found myself with the smell on another day. It is so obvious that they care about their customers and you would be hard pressed to find someone as genuine as these people are. Seriously. 25/10. I can't recommend them enough. read more

CarDoc is hands down best repair shop in the B/CS area. Aaron is amazing and will make sure that whatever is wrong with your vehicle will be fixed. I took my car in because it would not start and they fixed it very timely even though the starters they were ordering were not working due to the manufacturer. It took four starters to get one that would work from the manufacturer, but this shop did not show any frustration and kept in close contact with what was going on. Aaron kept me up to date on what was happening and confirmed work to be done before they started. I will not take my vehicle anywhere else. Very shady service was told my car was going to be finished on Friday and had to call multiple times with each phone call being assured that my car was going to be finished that day. I brought my 92 Chevy truck in because it all the sudden felt like it wasn't getting fuel. I was charged $1500.00 to repair fuel pick up line, set timing, intake manifold leak, install thermostat, and repair knock sensor wiring. They called and said it was ready for pick up. I paid them but upon driving home the truck overheated. Apparently the new thermostat is a bit lazy because there is a delay when opening for the first time each drive session. Anyway I took the truck back not only was it over heating it runs like complete crap, zero power. At this point car doc decides it's the knock sensor that needs to be replaced to remedy the poor performance of the truck. Another $100, okay fine BUT....the truck sat in their parking lot for over a month, no work being done to it, no phone call nothing. My patience has ended so I go up there to ask about it at which point Aaron says "Jeremy says to just drive it", huh what? Not exactly a vote of confidence on repairs. I took this as-we have no idea how to fix your issue so just drive it and hope I'm an idiot who doesn't know any better. I took the truck home where it sat for another two months, my wheels where spinning, out $1500, Jeremy telling me he's set time on hundreds of these trucks, blah blah. Took the truck to Stratta Automotive, it took them all of an hour to find out the timing was off by 14 degrees. Truck runs great now. Car Docs hourly rate is New Yorks average rate. Lord forbid they actually need to figure something out or do some research to make sure they haven't missed anything. I can't recommend under any circumstances. read more

AMAZING SERVICE!!! So thankful for Aaron at car doc!!! We were visiting from out of town and heard a rattling and grinding noise while I was driving! Although they were completely booked for the day, Aaron didn't want me driving back home without making sure we were safe. He took the time to check it out and found a tiny rock stuck in the rim of my tire. He popped it out and told me I needed new tires as I was about to have a blow out. Looked at the tire and sure enough they were pretty worn and I hadn't noticed. He possible prevented an accident and super grateful for him taking the time to check the issue out!! In the recent past I have had some extremely poor interactions with all the local auto repair facilities since my return 12 years ago. This being said, I was pleasantly surprised by the transparency of actions, speed and quality of service. I recommend Car Doc to everyone. I have only had positive experiences there. When I first moved to CS I took my car to another mechanic who told me it only had a few months to live. I took it to Car Doc and my car's been running like a champ for almost four years (an old champ, but a champ nonetheless). They've seen me through three 3000 mile trips, new headlights, brakes, hoses, belts, AC repair and four new tires. Again, my car is pretty old so these repairs make sense for its age/mileage. Their prices are incredibly reasonable, and I appreciate the AAA discount. Others have said their prices on the high side, I'm not sure where they're used to getting repairs done, but these were the best I've ever paid, and even though I'm a grown-up woman, I would call my parents after I got something done and penny-pinching Dad always approved. A few weeks ago I called 90 minutes before closing and they were able to fit me in, order new tires, have them delivered, switch out my tires, and fix my AC. Everyone I've worked with there has been great. Even though I've moved away, I wouldn't be surprised if I ended up at Car Doc again if I ran into a serious problem. read more

I brought my car in because I wanted a second opinion after the dealer quoted me a jaw dropping amount for head gasket replacement. After agreeing to the diagnostic fee they promptly worked their magic, showed me the test, explained it in terms I was able to understand, and quoted me just a little over half what the dealer wanted. The people here are friendly but they tried to charge us double what they should have. We got a quote, made some phone calls to other shops and found that they wanted to charge us $700 for something that should have cost $300. We ended up taking it to another shop for a much more reasonable price. They also didn't seem too upset when we told them we were gonna take it some where else. read more

Took my truck in for a cAstor adjustment on a front tire. They tried to 'up sell' me to ball joints. I was informed that the ball joints on my truck were 'severely worn' and were in 'dire need of replacement'. My wife did mechanic inspection before purchasing a used car. They told the seller that the agreed price was too low. Also, it cost us $105.4 to have visual inspection and computer scan. However, on the initial receipt, they did NOT provide results of computer scan so my wife asked them to provide the results, and they refused. So I asked my wife to handover her cellphone to the agent (so I can argue with him) . Finally the agent agreed to modify the receipt to include the results of computer scan. This was a disappointing experience. I was drawn in by the positive reviews, but my car and I left feeling anything but positive. When I arrived I explained that I had a shaking steering wheel, and had been told it was my alignment that I needed to get fixed. Front desk said no problem, and he spoke to the back of the house about doing my alignment - and I overheard him explain the shaking steering wheel to them. Fast forward 3 hours and two upcharges later, because they said couldn't do the work without extra parts (an adjustable camber bolt was one), I finally drive away having spent double what I went there for, and with one wheel not aligned (could have cost 2-400 more - but rest assure, "they weren't the kind of shop that would sell me on things I didn't need"). I call him within minutes of leaving because my wheel is shaking horribly, and he acts unsurprised and informs me that shaking usually isn't an alignment issue, it's balancing. When they rotated my tires it may have put a lesser balanced tire on the front, and that's why the shaking would be worse... balancing would be $15+/tire. If I had just asked for an alignment, without describing symptoms, or hadn't heard him repeat the concern about my shaking steering column (implying that he did hear me), I wouldn't feel quite as scammed. How was my presenting complaint not part of what recommendations were made? Now I'm back sorting through reviews to figure out where to go to spend even more money on balancing :( Found a place to get my tires balanced, and when I showed them my receipt with the extra adjustable camber bolt $60 charge for alignment, his response was "what a rip off"! Now I'm betting that back tire not being able to be aligned was false also. It is tiresome not being a car expert, or being a female and always feeling like I'm being taken advantage of. My son and I were in town for a track meet, 3 hours away from home. On Saturday morning on my way to the stadium i noticed my car was shaking at idle, and during acceleration. after a quick stop for coffee(because, hello! Saturday morning!!!) my check engine light came on as well. My heart sank. Here we are, far from home and my trusty mechanic, on a day most places close early. I parked in the stadium garage(close to the door in case I needed a tow!) called my husband and we both proceeded to look online for a mechanic that could help me out. He made some calls, I looked on google for reviews and we both found Aaron. He said if I could get it there he would look at it and do his best to fix it ASAP. I cautiously drove it there, dropped it off and grabbed and Uber and made it back to the stadium with time to spare to watch my kid run. Two hours later he called with an update, said he could have it ready to go in 30 minutes. Coming from someone that has a trusty mechanic on speed dial, this experience could have been awful, but Aaron took care of us quickly, and we drove home like new! I've taken cars to Car Doc a few times with good success but a recent visit was not as good. My wife took her vehicle there saying she wanted it checked out before a 700 mile trip (each way). Hoses and belts were checked and changed, all was good. But they hadn't checked the brakes so she went back, had it looked over, and was told she was good for a year. Well, you can guess the rest. We weren't even out of the county before the brakes were emitting a horrific metal-on-metal snarl at every touch. Upon arriving I pulled the front brakes and found 1 pad of 4 completely worn and the rotor deeply gouged. The other 3 were OK and I was able to have the rotor turned, so no real harm was done. I guess I just expected a little more caring and attention to detail given that a lady was making a long trip and depending on the vehicle. read more
