Took my daughter's car in for an oil change and left my Stanley cup there. I called and they said they would hold it for me. I came by the next day at about 4:15, on a Saturday and they were closed. I saw my cup on the back counter and keys were in the door. I knocked a few times and nada. So 2 days later, my sister in law went to go pick it up for me. They couldn't find it, someone stole my cup! So disappointing! People need to do better!!! read more

I have gotten two repairs done at Pete's. I had to get a tow on Christmas Eve and they were very accommodating and able to get a fast turnaround despite the holidays. That was a new starter. More recently I needed brake and steering work done and they provided an excellent value compared with the dealership. It took a little longer than desired, but worth it! STUDENT MOMS AND DADS BEWARE I'm a college student working and going to school at the same time. I went in the petes to try and get to issue sorted out and to get the car checked out. I was told that I would need a belt tensioner and that my issues with my brakes would be sorted out. I went to go pick up the car on a $560 bill just to find out that I was charged $400 in diagnosis and my problem still wasn't solved. I don't know about y'all but a Chevy suburban is by far probably one of the easiest cars to work on. GM is not known for being expensive and relatively cheap. I can urge people enough to stay away from this shop. They charge over 100 bucks a hour in labor just to not solve the problem at hand. IF YOU HAVE A COLLEGE STUDENT IN COLLEGE STATION WHO NEEDS A MECHANIC DO NOT BY ANY MEANS SEND THEM HERE. Absolutely horrified that they'd take advantage of a kid just trying to pay the bills in school. read more

There was a lot of terrible experiences at this place that inspired me to write this review. For some backstory, here's what happened. I brought my truck to Pete's for a punctured gas tank (of my own fault, I admit) and was told I'd hear back in a few days. Communication was awful. I never once received a phone call about a single update, price estimate, or anything of the sort. I had to call for everything. 10 days later, I finally receive a phone call that my truck is finished. I head over there, and it wasn't even completed. Being a student, time is important to me, and I was forced to sit there for another 45 minutes while the job was completed. And finally, I'm fairly certain they broke my driver side mirror. When I got into my truck I noticed the side mirror was completely cracked and pieces were missing from it. I brought this up to the man at the front desk and he took a singular look at it and said "That's hail dude" and walked away without another word. There is not a single piece of damage to the rest of my truck. Every other glass piece is completely intact, including the 52 inch light bar on the top of the truck. I find it extremely hard to believe that hail hit a singular spot on my truck and caused damage. Regardless, the employee at the front blew that off and now I'm out the money for repairs I guess. I won't be coming back here. The only positive note I have is that the price was good, but I guess I got what I paid for. read more

If I could give 0 stars I would. First, isn't it against state law for a place that does state inspections to close before posted hours? No signage indicating closing early today. Second, told them over the phone that my girlfriend and I live in Houston and she was stranded in College Station (the only reason I didn't fix it myself). Drove 100 miles to check on the car and found the shop closed after telling them, again, over the phone this morning what was going on. Was told "they'd call once it was done." Third, went and looked at my car they left unlocked. Already did more to it myself than they did. The cap has been replaced. You're welcome Pete's. Had I brought the spares the car would be gone and fixed on my own. If you don't know how to work on a car just go to Firestone. At least they are communicative and provide some sort of customer service. Just to update my review. The car made it down the road about 10 minutes after leaving Pete's before it started overheating again. Took it to a more reputable shop, Christian Brothers, who ran pressure tests on the coolant system. They were able to determine Pete's did not fix the engine as stated. They further found the best and most appropriate course of action was a new motor. Avoid Pete's if you want your car worked on properly. May I have a button for negative stars? read more

Been taking my wife's Tahoe and my truck to this man and his team for about 5 years now. He has always fixed the problems (mostly brakes, once an ac, and oil changes) in less than a day, and at comparable prices. I know this because at first I shopped around. Every time I've dropped off our trucks they've called me letting me know what was wrong and what the price was going to be before proceeding to fix the problem. While picking up the truck, Pete always lets me know about what my truck needs next, or things to look out for because "if you don't fix it soon it's gonna cost more later." I never thought I would actually take the time to write a review on yelp, and really wouldn't have thought it would be to an auto repair shop. This place, however, is not your cliche auto shop. They're top notch, and actually care about you and your car or truck. read more

I have never experienced such sad customer service and performance. I needed an oil change on my pick up truck high mileage vehicle. I am guessing the guy up front writing out my ticket for services is the owner, manager, or smart ass ( horrible people skills) I felt very uncomfortably while waiting for my vehicle. Finally, after 45 min. They finish and parked my vehicle out front. I paid for the service and drove off.....a week later my engine light comes on guess what I am 5 quarts of oil low. Oct 2022- Update returned for my battery due to it getting a bad reading at Wal-Mart and quitting on me earlier in the day. I wish I could give more information but I can't. All I know is I think they replaced the battery (they didn't give me a print out of what all was done for some reason). Anyway I assume they just replaced it due to it still being under warranty but idk. Well the battery went dead this past Sunday ( just 4 days later). So I just took it some where else b/c I'm thinking something else is wrong being that "I think" a brand new battery was just installed. It turns out it was the alternator so yeah idek what to say. Idk if that was checked or if the battery was just replaced or like I said what all was done. Guess I'll never know. I'll let you all decide on whether or not this a good place to go. It's a toss up. Had some work done on my honda pilot. I was not pleased at 1st as there were some communication issues between myself and the tech. The tech had issues with my alarm and said he would call me if he could not disable it. I never got a call back and when I returned, my horn was not working. Looked like the horn was disabled. Wasn't happy cause that was not communicated with me. Johnny (I assume he is the manager); helped me resolve this issue and we came to fair compromise. They treated me with respect and even gave me a ride to work. My 1st interaction had me on the brink of not returning but they made up for it. They seem honest and have a good reputation. As a woman, I have the general stereotype stuck in my mind that most women do (and perhaps it's not all totally unfair, really)--that all mechanics are conscienceless, scamming, sexist thieves, ready to pounce on any woman who seems even mildly unaware of all the ins and outs of how her car functions. With this mindset already being pretty well in place (sorry, but I've been burned way too many times to be naive anymore), I walked very warily into Pete's several months ago, when one of my tires was almost flat because of a nail. His staff was courteous, friendly, welcoming, and best of all, the mechanic brought me outside to see my tire, and actually EXPLAINED why they were going to do what they said they were going to do, and didn't try to up sell me on things I didn't need. My suspicious walls began to crumble that day. Had I actually found an honest mechanic's shop? Now, a few months later, I went in to have one of my wheel well cover's inspected, since it had fallen and was rubbing against my tire, and to have my state inspection updated. The wait was LONG, but that was my fault for coming in on a Saturday, plus they apparently had some sick mechanics who were out. Anyway, inspection was done for $7, they looked at the wheel well cover and discovered that they could do an easy, temporary fix, and promised they would call me on Monday with a price quote for how much it would cost to eventually get it repaired, since Pete said he didn't feel it'd be necessary to spend the extra cash right now, unless it was cheap to repair (!). So they made the temporary fix and didn't charge me a thing! And my wheel doesn't rug against the wheel well cover anymore! I meant for this to be a short review, but I'm so pleased and relieved that I just had to share. I'd definitely recommend Pete's to any woman out there who has also been taken advantage of by scamming mechanics in the past, and anyone in general who's looking for a great mechanic shop! read more

I have been going to Pete's Auto Care since I moved to College Station for my freshman year. My car is the epitome of a typical college car. I drive a 2006 Ford Mustang and I swear I have problems almost every month. I trust Pete and his employees because they never overcharge or lie for more profit even though I'm extremely uneducated about anything car related lol. For instance, last month I took my car in to get my brakes and rotors replaced. They told me that I could wait a solid few months before changing them, but they definitely were going to need replacing. Other auto shops would replace them without mentioning that I could wait before spending a couple hundred. I respect their honesty! Last night, I was driving on the highway and I had to exit quickly because one of my dashboard lights lit up. My car was overheating and white smoke was coming out of the hood. I called Pete and without hesitation he towed it this morning and I picked it up this afternoon. If it wasn't for his wonderful and quick service, I really think I may have been shopping for a new car this weekend. The towing was reasonably priced at all $55 to tow my car from College Station to Bryan. I had to get my car towed earlier this year to his shop because I had two tires blow out and he was able to tow it for $55 dollars as well so I'm assuming that is his standard towing price. Needless to say, I recommend Pete's Auto Care and I would not trust my car with anyone else! Pete is such a great person as well and I always find myself having a conversation with him while I'm in the shop. Last semester my car battery died and Pete came to my complex and he jumped the car himself because my jumping cables were faulty. If that is not exceptional customer service than I honestly do not know what is. Keep up the great work, Pete! read more

My personal experience: This place sadly represents why most people are not trusting mechanics! Here is what happened. They asked me to leave my car with them for an easy thing that usually takes 10 minutes to get it done with a cost of around $20, so I did. They called me hours later and asked me if I wanted a second thing done. I said no since that was not necessary. when I got there they had done it anyway and expected me to pay for it. I did pay for it as I was afraid they would not give me my car if I didn't. As I drove away I noticed that there was a gurgling noise coming from my car exhaust that wasn't there before I brought it to them. I will never go back to them again. read more

It's always hard to trust mechanics when you are 200 miles away and it's even harder when they ask for payment and then find a couple more things... we do not believe it is good nor safe business practice that they requested we text a picture of our drivers license to verify our credit card.. this is identity theft 101! Don't do it! It isn't necessary. They are working to find a "reasonable" fix but we are already $1500 into the project for a car that was overheating..The car would have been fixable but they continued to "test drive it" repeatedly with radiator issues. Then, the engine blew and they tried to sell us a $7400 used engine for a 2006 car. If you read the google reviews, which we wish our daughter had, you will see that this is their racket. They kept our car after repeatedly saying it was done. It got worse and worse the longer it stayed there. JUST SAY NO TO FRAUD AND GO SOMEWHERE ELSE!! read more

what can be said about Petes auto care, well he is greek "what the h..." he comes a history of garage shops his dad owned one in Houston and yes he worked there, he has good people that work there that care about their jobs, I think its obvious, He got away from gasoline service to concentrate on shop and he has done well, he replaced an engine for me in 2003 and the motor still runs today, he will not compromise quality I know I've dealt with since 1987 and he is the same guy, he genuinely cares, heck he still remembers replacing my motor, and yes they are busy in that shop, cars are different now and has adapted to that need even as complex as they are now, but still takes in classics. very reasonable prices considering how expensive parts are, will only use name brand parts that stand behind their parts, every bay in that shop is busy, somebody working on something , I like this shop and is my go to and should be to anyone who wants to keep their car for a while and needs a trustworthy guy/shop. read more

Will never go there again, older male there is rude and arrogant. I took my car in to have it inspected, when I tried to ask questions he just glared and me and refused to answer. This was a very unfriendly place including some of the other customers. Pete's acts like they don't need or want your business so they won't get it again. After I left Pete's my car made strange noises which it didn't do before. It is now fixed but not by them. I have been to Pete's probably four or five times for various issues. The last two times were for the same reason and instead of either acknowledging that they are unsure of the problem or admitting that they didn't fix it properly the first time, they tried to tell me that they had not understood what I'd requested and had made the changes that they thought I would have needed anyway. I find that hard to believe as the problem with the vehicle is clearly written on the intake form and I feel like the repairs were explained poorly. (They're the expert here, not me.) Went there just for a safety inspection on my car. They were not very busy and my car was inspected in about 20 minutes. The guys in the office stepped out into the shop, just standing in a circle chatting and laughing passing the day. After an hour I went and got the guys to ask what was taking so long. Turns out my car had been done for 30 minutes, they just didnt care to check me out. I will never be back and wouldn't recommend them. My wife recommended Pete Kountakis, the owner, because he is honest & will go out of his way to explain what is wrong with your vehicle, whether or not it is worth repairing, and what it will likely cost in parts and labor to do repairs. I have never been disappointed in Pete's; and one of the most valuable services Pete's has is that they are open on Saturdays, usually until 4pm. That helps a bunch of working people. I can take a book or crossword puzzle up there and relax knowing that my car will get what it needs and will be done right. Pete recently saved me about $200 over what the dealership wanted to charge for a 60,000 mile checkup. Pete proudly displays the Better Business Bureau Torch Award for Ethics in the Marketplace. In the waiting area, it is air-conditioned, has a television, and coffee for those who want it. Bathroom, too. Never doubt that Pete & Jim will take good care of your car and you. read more
