Took my children and myself for a "style".... Despite the personnel being friendly: Kids' hair extremely shorter than my request, also one side longer that the other, ends completely uneven... For my "style" I requested a "V" shaped at the back... its ruler straight and it looks like it was mowed with a lawnmower. Worst experience ever. read more

Needed a haircut, and had been here before. Something interesting happened. I called ahead, said I would be there in 15 minutes, gave my name. On arrival, several people in reception seating & a few waiting to check in. First in line to check in, customer A. Stated loudly that she hadn't called ahead, just needed a "trim", and that she wasn't even clocked out at work, shouldn't even be there. Then customer B. Stated that he HAD called ahead, but he didn't mind if customer A went first. Now my turn as customer C. I stated that I had called ahead, and every looked at me as if waiting for me to say Customer A could go ahead of me. I said nothing, and was told that someone would be right with me. Lots of scowls from everybody. I was taken quickly to a chair, by the one who checked me in. no banter, how's your day, etc. lots of banter was going on in nearby chairs. I was then given the fastest haircut I have ever had. She didn't even turn off the clippers to change attachments! Rough, tugging, it was like, get this guy over with so we can serve the nice people. But, my haircut was free. Wait, no it wasn't ! It as $16, and I paid in cash. Yes, I could have played nice, rewarded the work skipper who didn't plan ahead enough to call first, and let her go first. Out of respect for customer A's co-workers, back at work covering her job abandonment, I just followed the rules. The only regret I have is my fast haircut! Guess it will grow in, what an investment of my $16! I have shared this story with a lot of people, and s far, everyone agrees I did the right thing, but many believe I should have berated the hairdresser in front of everyone, but I have too much class for that. read more

Just went there to get a haircut..and the worker literally finished in 3 mins and her altitude and expression is rude.. This is the worst haircut I got ever in my life, it ended up completely uneven on sides, and she was like she wanted to finish it as soon as she can. read more

I stopped by because I was in the area and had a good first overall impression. They are friendly and chatty during the haircut. Unfortunately, the actual haircut was not very good. Just left here about five minutes ago, and I'll have to say it wasn't too bad of an experience. The girl I had for my haircut did a decent job, but she lacked no creativity. I asked her for her opinion on what I should do with my hair and she just kind of said "There's not much you can do" - which I'm sorry, but I have long hair, there's a lot she could have messed around with. I didn't opt in for the shampoo or style afterwards, so I left with a partially wet head that was frizzing. I'm sorry but with freezing State College air, you should at least pop a blow dry on someones head so that your customer doesn't leave with a head cold. I didn't need to look pretty, but it would have been nice if my hair wouldn't have frozen on the walk to my car. Just the cut was $16.95, for my length of hair, but with my $5 coupon I got it down to under $14 with a tip. The hair dresser probably didn't deserve the tip, because she didn't talk to me like the other ladies in the salon did with their clients. She also rushed through and did my layers in about 5 minutes, which usually takes any other stylist around 20 (my hair is huge, I'm aware). Over all, not too bad, but I've had better. For what I payed for I'm okay with what I got, but I feel like the extra $20 I pay at my salon is worth it for the care and experience. read more

I hate giving bad reviews, so I'll start with the good things about this Super Cuts store: they've mostly done a great job with my 6 yr. old daughter. It's not hard to give her a simple haircut, but she's actually gotten a few great ones here that were better than just a trim that's cut in a straight line. She's come away with a cut that really works with her hair--great layers and angles. I don't expect much for her though, because she's a squirmy kid, so the fact that they did so well was great. Now the bad part: I have had my hair cut there a few times and was pleased. I talked to my stylist a few times about color and finally had time to do it. I called ahead, as suggested, and asked very directly about what time it would be most convenient for the stylists on staff because I didn't want to back the whole place up if I could be flexible. I was told that noon was best, they'd have the right staff and it would be easiest for the stylists to manage me. I rearranged my schedule a bit and went in at noon only to be greeted and forgotten about. One stylist was on the floor taking haircuts and the others were "on break?" I waited for 30 minutes and no one checked in with me. The stylist who was cutting hair apologized and said she'd take me but she wasn't color certified. She looked like she genuinely felt bad, but I wondered where the rest of the stylists wandered off to. When I used the restroom, I did see that there were two stylists in the back (employees area) and one was coloring the other's hair. I guess that was more important than the time I set aside partly to be most helpful to them. I was really disappointed, so I just left. I know that stylists at "budget" salons work really hard and don't make tons of money, so I try to tip very (very!) well, especially for color, but whoever would have made a really decent tip that day missed out. I also won't go back, even though the salon IAS right around the corner from my home. I just felt like my time wasn't respected, though I really did try to do the best to be flexible with theirs. read more

After a blotched haircut from my regular place I decided it was time to somewhere else. Made a last minute decision to go along with a friend to Supercuts. We walked in 15 minutes before they closed, but was still kindly greeted and waited on immediately. I explained what I wanted and the stylist did just that, giving advice and asking questions along the way. I moved to state college about a year ago, and I have tried many high end salons in town and have been left completely dissatisfied. I decided to give supercuts a go since it was at least a little less costly. Katie cut my hair and she did an awesome job, she listened very closely to what I wanted and took her time and was very precise. I opted to get a full wash and blow out, and it was well worth the price. Only reason I give 4 stars is because it lacks the amenities available at a higher end salon, you can't make appointments. They close at 8pm; it was about 7:50pm, but I thought I'd take a chance and see whether they'd still take customers before closing time. I walked in, not being helped by anyone; they were helping others. I thought: ok, they are busy, and I can wait. I kept trying to make an eye contact so that I can ask my question: are they still willing to serve me? No success though; they wouldn't look at me. A few minutes later (it might have passed 8pm), they both finished helping their customer, and a thin middle aged woman led me to a chair (she couldn't wait until the front desk checked me in and kept pushing me to start before I could answer the front desk's questions). I carefully asked my question: it is after 8pm, would it be ok to ask for her service; she said it's ok but I wish I didn't believe her! She had little patience asking about my requirements, and started to rudely scratch my scarp with the clipper. I had to stop her and tell her: it hurts, which I was sure she already knew. She ignored my request of a 5 on the top and cut it to 2-3, and finished the job in probably 90-120 seconds (and I did not overstate)!!! WTF!! Please, if you don't want to work after 8pm, ask your customer to come at another time, rather than keep them but treat them so badly!! I probably shouldn't take the chance and come that late, but I wonder what they'll do if customers come early enough (like 7:30pm) but there's a line waiting. Do they still keep the customers but work for 90 seconds on each of them, and treat them so badly??? read more

Supercuts is not my usual salon. However, I needed a quick trim and didn't have time to schedule with my stylist. I walked right in an was quickly waited on. I got the trim I wanted along with a brow waxing. The prices are good. The cut was $17ish and the waxing was $12. If you get a shampoo it's going to cost you more. read more

I have had my hair cut here several times and have never been impressed. One time, I asked for a few inches off the length, as something a little different. The stylist cut 6 inches off and I absolutely hated it. Today, the stylist could not understand the concept of face-framing, something I have had done every time I have gotten a haircut in the last 10 years. She tried to argue with me about how it would look and my explanation of what I wanted was apparently not good enough. So now I have short bangs and long hair when all I wanted was the bangs to gradually flow into the rest of the hair. That isn't difficult to do. The store was very busy today and the overall attitude of the stylists was very poor. They were not friendly and acted like it was an inconvenience to them to have so many people wanting a haircut. This was my last time getting my hair cut at Supercuts and unless you like your haircuts to be bad experiences, I would recommend you find another place for your haircut. read more
