I came here a while back and wasn't wowed but after needing to change salons and stylists I decided to give Viva Bella another go.... And I'm glad I did! Ashlyn was great. From start to finish I felt heard and taken care of. One of my biggest pet peeves is a stylist painting your forehead with coloring and not removing it completely before you leave the salon. Ashlyn was very careful to not paint my face and removed what was there. She recommended great products - which I've used in the last and love. Scheduled my follow up and can't wait! read more

Went for a spray tan and immediately went home to wash it off. Splotchy with product super heavy in some areas and nonexistent in others. Only provided one color. Did not address a single one of the concerns I pointed out and felt rushed. read more

On November 22, I scheduled an appointment for hair and make-up to have a professional headshot done. The person I spoke with said she put me in for a two and a half hour block on January 5. I showed up at the scheduled time and they didn't have anything showing an appointment for me. I even showed them in my call history the date and time I called to schedule the appointment. I spoke with the owner who said she would look into it and call me back. Never heard anything back from anyone. read more

DO NOT GO HERE!! I paid a hair stylist here named Laura to color my hair. The outcome was the complete opposite of what I asked for. She charged me, and told me to come in a week later to try and fix it. I came back the following week and she did an even more awful job. I wasted my time and money with Laura. Came here today for the first and last time. Just moved into town for school (like most people here) and looking for a salon to call home while here - unfortunately this place just isnt for me, or people with thick hair. I just needed a trim, typically I get a blunt cut with some long blunt layers - since my hair is thick you have to do it a certain way so it looks good. Im not a stylist, but Ive never had an issue in communicating this in the past - until today. The young person had no idea what i meant by this, nor did they seem to think having thick hair required any kind of special considerations. SO now I have a meh hair cut I could have gotten at super cuts for a fraction of the cost. read more

I absolutely love going to Viva Bella! Their salon is clean, trendy, and always up-to-date on the best hair care products and styles. I've been seeing Stacey for a few years now and she's absolutely amazing and super talented. She's taken my hair from dark to blonde and from long to short and I've always been happy with the results. She's consulted me on what I wanted and allowed me the opportunity to be honest in my feedback. I always feel welcome and definitely appreciate the glass of wine after a long day of work. This is the best hair salon I ever went to, and during my four years at PSU I would recommend​ it to everyone. I am very picky and specific about the way I look, and was reluctant to start at a salon at school, coming from NY where hair salons charge an arm and a leg for services. Since my first haircut with Lindsay, I would wait until I was back in town over the summer to get my haircut, because she is that good. I have ALWAYS loved how my hair was done. Some employees aren't very personable or nice. Probably not going back. Receptionist wasn't very nice at all on the phone either. If you don't care necessarily how you're treated or how much you pay, I recommend it. Seriously though, it is worth the price if you are getting a complicated style/color. Made an appt for my daughter as a pampering birthday gift -she called me before she left the salon and said"Never again!" What hairstylist doesn't know you brush curly hair when drying it. Her hair was frizzy and not styled to her liking. Anyone with curly hair should stay away -hopefully we found a salon that works for her while at State College. We have another 2yrs there. read more

Came in from out of town and had my hair highlighted by Bri (Briana). They were able to fit me in within an hour of my call. Bri was amazing, quick, and super knowledgeable. The color looks super natural and blends perfectly! I enjoyed the atmosphere, and they offer you drinks like wine! read more

This place is a scam. Please do not go here for a trim. Got a dry trim (1/2 inch) and they charged me for a full wash cut and style when their website says a maintenance trim is supposed to be 6$. I thought this was a mistake so I questioned it and got shut down immediately. Only go here if you enjoy being ripped off. read more

I've been going to Lydia at Viva Bella since moving to the area and can't say enough good things about her and the entire staff. In the past when selecting a salon in a new area I would get a great first haircut where the stylist paid attention to the details. After 2-3 times going I would find that it was a rush job and didn't really get me what I wanted (and I'm not even picky). For the first time, I can honestly say that the last haircut I had was as good as the first. As a guy, I realize that I'm not there primary clientele but they do a great job on men and women. I liked them so much I have even started using them to help out with hair for my portrait photography studio. They just do fantastic work. Regardless of the style or job, they are professional, talented and just plain fun to be around. I highly recommend them for men or women looking for an excellent experience that you can guarantee will be the same from the first cut or style to your most recent. *Note...I wanted to make sure this review was on their new listing so I reposted! read more

I drive 4 hours plus traffic from New Jersey to get my hair cut by Lydia at the salon, as they are THAT good! I've never had a negative experience! The salon itself is classy, modern, innovative, clean and comfortable. The staff is incredible creative, thoughtful, kind and thorough. Lydia is a dream of a stylist, always doing an incredible job on my hair. The prices are extremely reasonable for the area and I truly feel I get my money's worth every single time. Although the hairstylist I had has good application technique I was NOT satisfied. First of all I noticed that she tried to use as much product as possible when she got to the last strands of my hair so she would need a little more product and charge me for an extra bowl. I saw how much she used for each part and I know she had enough. What she did was very obvious. Also, I asked that she would leave my top half and my bottom half even in color at least close to the same color. That did not happen. She was in a rush at the end so I guess enough time was not blocked out for me. I agree with other posts that the salon is beautiful. I did not have Roz, Lydia, or Julie so maybe they are better. I was reeled in when I got a consult. The man told me they would be able to get me the color I wanted. However, when I got there the stylist said that she didn't think it was possible. Either way I needed my hair fixed since the top and bottom did not match, but she still left me with the same problem only lighter. I would not recommend this salon from my experience. Viva Bella always makes you feel so welcome as soon as you walk in the door, they take your coat and offer you a drink while you wait. Roz has been cutting my hair for the past 5 years and always does a great job! Very disappointed! My daughter went here to get her hair colored. She showed her stylist, Stacy a hair extension she wanted the color matched to. The desired colored was golden brown. She got reddish brown instead. We asked for a refund which we were refused. The policy is a do over. My daughter had to leave town for a wedding . The whole experience was extremely upsetting! Why would she want to go back? Customer service like this IS NOT customer service! Save your time your money and your sanity and go to another salon! read more

Finally a salon that listens to me! Felt very welcome and valued from the moment I came in. Julie did a great job with my cut, it came out perfect. Came back a week later for a color and I am so happy with my hair. She knew exactly which colors to combine to make the color I was searching for. Overall, I'm extremely pleased with my entire experience at Viva Bella from price to service to the atmosphere. Never had a "regular" salon before but this just might be it! read more
