I'm sorry, but I could not be more upset. My facial hair is ruined. This is genuinely the worst beard trim I've ever gotten in my entire life. My entire beard is uneven, the right side is more full than the left, and the barber cut off almost all of the front of my beard leaving mainly the neck exposed. I have about an inch (at most) left of what was a 7 inch beard. I also HAD a nearly 4 inch long handlebar mustache that I specifically said only to trim off no more than a quarter of an inch off of just the tips, and the barber proceeded to remove my entire handlebar. I'm honestly so sad and upset right now. I'm not sure if I should say that a little or even some of this is my fault; perhaps it was miscommunication on my part? However, I know what I said, and it feels like the gentleman who ruined my face did everything the opposite of what I said to do. Sure it will all grow back in time, but right now I have interviews and pictures to take where I will look terrible in all of them. Now I have to go home and try my best to fix whatever I can. $20 for nightmare? Never again. read more

Don't expect them to call you back quick or even pick up the phone. The woman, when she eventually called me back, was already rude...before I even scheduled the appointment. Also don't be late to your appointment or the lady with the glasses will use as an opportunity to be agressive towards you. It's okay to be frustrated, but don't expect me to willingly give you my money, If I acted like her at my restaurant I would've been fired. At least now I know to go to Fetterolf's. read more

Awful. Usual hairdressers are okay but the new hire is terrible. Took atleast an hour for an inch off the top and I ended up with a comb over mullet. Will be getting it fixed somewhere else tomorrow. Avoid this place like the plague read more

Found this place via YELP when I was in need of a quick haircut walk in. Got my hair done by Kathy after a 10 minute wait. THIS WAS THE BEST HAIRCUT I HAVE HAD. And that comes from a guy who gets haircuts at least 3 times a month. The fade is perfect, and when you ask for a skin fade they will give you warm shaving cream and a razor fade to die for. The whole experiance of a 1920's style shop and the talent of Kathy (First chair in the door) makes me seriously wish I would stay in the area just to keep getting my cuts from her. One of the better barbers in State College. I went here frequently as a student and they've never disappointed. It's the same people working there every day and they're all really nice and attentive to detail. Also, since they've been working there a while, they pay great attention to detail. I wouldn't say I prefer anyone over other just because I've gotten my hair cut by all of them before. Make sure you don't come during peak hours such as lunch or right before they close. There can sometimes be a wait around 15-20 min. Also, when I went, they only take cash as well. But that's nothing really new for barber shops. read more

I've been twice to Rinaldo's- both great experiences. The location is very central on Allen Street- the interior is so dated, it's historic- in a good way. It feels a touch no frills; walk-in and take a number. I had Leanne this time- she was efficient and nailed the haircut based on a photo I had on my phone. $18 I feel is worth a great barber experience! read more

Quick and friendly service. Peak times have a wait but usually its not too bad. If you go around 11 or 3 its usually pretty smooth sailing. They are very friendly and do a great job. I get my beard trimmed and it comes out with crisp edges, no mess, and fairly reasonable on the wallet. read more

Love Rinaldo's. Over the last 17 years I think that I've had my hair cut by most of the barbers including Becky (owner), Christy, Dale, Kathy, Jeff, Shea, and Wayne. Dale and Wayne and Christy are gone now. Wayne had an awesome smock and what a head of hair! It was like being transported back in time. Jeff is my current favorite but Kathy and Shea are good too. It's hard to get a bad haircut there now that Dale's gone (just kidding Dale - most of the time you did ok and I learned a lot about growing garlic from you). I only had one slightly negative experience and that was the time that they were kind of busy and I was waiting for a while and noticed that neither Becky or Christy were taking customers even though they were standing by their chairs. Later as my hair was finally being cut by someone else (probably Dale going on about his garlic festival) in walks Graham Spanier and it looks like Becky and Christy were waiting to do his hair - what it takes two of you to do the President's hair?! One of the best Old Fashioned Barbershops I have ever been to. As a recent PSU alum, I now live in the Greater DC Metropolitan area, and I have taken advantage of every trip up to State College to get my hair cut there. They still use hot shaving cream on the back of the neck and an old fashioned straight razor to clean things up. All of the staff are very friendly and outgoing. Highly recommended. I've gotten the best haircut of my life here and I've gotten decent ones. It depends on which of the barbers you get. Either way it's a good place to get your haircut at a fair price. The staff is friendly. A drawback is this place being so close to campus it can get very busy at times making the wait a little long for a barber shop. HORRIBLE HAIRCUT! Went against what i asked for. told her take a little off the back on the top and she buzzed it all off. wanted a fade and i got a guideline and then a 2 guard. Told her not to push my hairline back and she turned me to a middle aged man witha receding hairline. Doesn't look natural at all. Didn't know what a taper was. Neckline was not clean. The razor on the neck was like rubbing sandpaper on my skin and not smooth. MESSED ME UP. DO NOT GO HERE if you want a fresh cut. They do not know what they are doing. I usually go to For Men Only, but I decided to go for a change and give this place a try. Going in, I knew what haircut I wanted, so wasn't for a new style. When it came to my turn after a short wait, I told the barber what I wanted and she gave me tips, as well as studied my hair (I was growing out a bad haircut from the summer). However, if you are a guy looking for a plain yet effective haircut, Rinaldo's is a good place for it. They are efficient and move as fast as they can while only charging about $15 for a haircut. Will not be going back here. Not bad haircut, but awful customer service. I needed a haircut that day because I was visiting my girlfriend in Pittsburgh, so obviously I wanted to look nice for her. After spending over an hour at another barber shop waiting to get a haircut I ran out of time and had to go to class. Frustrating to say the least. I called Rinaldo's before I went down and asked what their walk-in wait was like, they told me they were slow and I should come down. I got down there in less than 5 minutes and there were 5 people waiting. No big deal, they just beat me to it. My problem was after waiting for over an hour, AGAIN, my number was called and I didnt hear it since a young man next to me was asking how long I had been waiting for. After he left I heard her call the next number, I thought to myself, "Hm that can't be right, perhaps she accidentally skipped mine." So I went over to, Shay I think her name was. And I simply asked her, "Did you skip my number? I think I was next." She replied already quite annoyed with a heightened tone, "I didnt SKIP your number, I called your number 3 times already and you didnt come up, now you have to wait." I was literally speechless at her tone, after all I was a paying customer who patiently waited for my turn. Frustrated at the way I was just treated I swallowed my anger and sat back down. I thought why would I waste all of this time trying to get my hair cut to just storm out in anger? Jeff, the barber next to her, also looking surprised at her tone softly said, "Im sure you'll be right up after the next guest." But I wasn't. The next barber who finished didnt call a number she just pulled someone from the pool of eagerly waiting customers. After another 15 minutes or so Jeff knew it was my turn and called me up. Having Shay right next to me the whole time was incredibly awkward for everyone. Jeff barely said a word to me the whole time he was cutting my hair and it was an extremely unpleasant experience. I am not mad at having to wait so long. I am not even upset about being told I missed my number and had to wait even longer. I am upset that as a person I was treated like a dog by someone who is supposed to be serving her customers and making them feel special. After all, how else would they earn their tips? Shay is very lucky that she didnt serve me after that. I would have tipped her a penny and told her calmly why she deserves only that much of a tip. (A penny because no one deserves to get stiffed a tip). Jeff did an excellent job on me. But it seems Shay might need help with her people skills.
