Josh by far is the best in this place with the exception of a few new faces especially for people of color. If u want ur hair jacked go to Brandi shes the rude load mouth in the 1st chair. She quick to tell a person of color considering their hair is curly she couldn't get it like the pic. No u cant cut Urban hair and u need to stop. She's rude and needs to be in the back of the shop or at Walmart or super cuts and that's not saying much. Better yet just stay home with ur rude ass. The rating is for Josh not u read more

Jump in price is crazy to go up that much.they are going to lose customers.Great clips is cheaper.went to them for years But no longer lost me as a great customer.went to Great clips got a nice cut n a hell of lot cheaper.Telling everyone to go to great clips.or some where else be alot cheaper Hope they go out of business read more

Jared & Brandy are excellent. Both are accommodating & work hard to give you the cut you want.

This was our first time here, not sure what happened. We went over the cut with pictures. I do understand that some may have different skill set. If the barber wasn't sure he could provide the cut/service. I would have appreciated that he wasn't comfortable cutting it or wasn't sure what we wanted and would have been happy to wait. My boy did not get anything like we asked for. We would have waited for some else. We seen several young boys getting their hair cut and walk out with very similar style we asked for. I had to explain why this happened... disappointed! kids do care if they get the cut/ style haircut they wanted read more

Josh is awesome. His cuts are always well done, he takes his time, is always super nice and more so, it's as if he's creating a work of art every time - highly recommend! read more

Professional and timely There is not much else to say great service and definitely recommend

If you want a great cut go to Josh, it's well worth the wait. If you want something quick, there's also two ladies usually available in the middle of the store! Bring cash and don't ask the blonde female with arm tattoos for a fade. She's great, she's just in the wrong industry. She was supposed to be a butcher. read more

I love this barber shop. All of the barbers do a great job. However, Shay is my favorite.

I absolutely love this placed. This locally-owned business has great staff that offer an affordable and quality haircut. Highly recommend! read more

If you want a nice and clean high-and-tight haircut, this is the shop for you! If you want a low graduated fade, well then I hope you like high-and-tights because that's apparently the only haircut they know how to do. Multiple times I've asked for low skin fades, and they'll start the 0 just fine. But then they'll take the 1 blade all the way to the top of my head and fade from there, so it comes out looking like a high-and-tight that's grown in for a few days. But hey, you get what you paid for. read more

I have never left a review before and will not again but I felt compelled this time because of the horrible service at this place. The barber who serviced my brother refused to listen to him and would not make any adjustments when asked, telling him that he needed to get to other customers. My barber did not greet me, ask me what I wanted, or even look me in the face. She just snapped her fingers at me and slapped the chair when it was my turn. I asked for a beard trim and for two inches off the back of my hair. She trimmed my beard, sprayed water in my hair, and told me I was done. She blatantly rolled her eyes when I asked if she had taken anything off the back. It was clear she had not. The atmosphere was like walking into a bar where the customers and staff all know each other and do not welcome outsiders. It was obvious they did not want us there. I kick myself for not just walking out. I've gotten better service at the PX barber in the Army for goodness sake. read more

Made the mistake of getting a shape up at Owens. I have a notion that barbershops should know how to at least do a decent "tape" but second time I make that mistake and trust me they won't see me again. The line on my forehead is not even and it's very disappointing. It may be that the barbers in state college are not trained properly to cut ethnic hair, which I don't blame since it's basically a Caucasian town. (Made a $12 mistake) Guys if you want an awesome haircut go to fitted cuts in downtown. I couldn't see myself looking like a mess, drove to downtown to fitted cuts and now I'm so happy with the end result. read more

Quick, good results, inexpensive and friendly staff. There's a line at the door as soon as they open. I was in and out in less than 10 minutes. read more

I got a haircut here about 3 times now, I was happy the first time but the last two times, I tell the barber or hairdresser to just cut the sides and they go and cut everything anyway, leaving me looking like an idiot, will not be going back read more

Actually the worst haircut I've ever got in my entire life. Asked for a mid fade and the guy legit shaved my whole head.

I decided to go here off of a couple recommendations. Sorry that I did. I have curly hair and when I went in I wasn't aware that they do not use scissors here. All of the other barbers that I have ever went to used both clippers and scissors. They were very informative that they do not use these foreign things called scissors. I decided why not.. lets give it a go... The barber began... and you know that scene from Edward Scissorhands where he is clipping away at the hedges? That's kind of what happened here. Hair was flying everywhere and in about, what felt like, 3 seconds I was done. No design, no idea what just happened. This barbershop isn't bad, I'm sure they are good - just not for my style of hair. read more

Haircuts are OK. Most of the staff usually seem like they'd rather be anywhere else than cutting hair. read more

No nonsense efficient service in friendly environment. Barbers listen and give you the cut YOU asked for.

This is how a real barber shop should be. Haven't had much on top of my head for over a decade now, but I tend to grow the beard out more often than not and sometimes it needs a bit of pruning. They're always packed, but always get everybody in and out super quick like. There's a quiet, cool vibe every time I go in. It's a cash-only shop, and for whatever reason I think that makes it even more authentic and the way that they do things. read more

I recently moved to town and was looking for a new barber. Based on my three visits here, it appeared to have been taken over by some new folks. Nice people, lots of cool photos and sports memorabilia throughout the shop; however, not the best haircuts. As mentioned I visited three times and gave them a try, but each time my hair was unevenly cut, which I noticed once I got home. It was quite "choppy" per the wife. This is just my experience with one of the barbers, I believe she was he new owner, but I could be wrong, I know there are a number working with this shop so others might have different experiences. read more

If you want a fade DO NOT GO HERE, I went with friends and we all had different barbers, we all go with 2-1 or 1-0 fades. They xxxxxx our xxxx up. The fades were patchy and they just rush haircuts to get u in and out. Never had a faster haircut in my life. They also do not shape you up. All 3 of us had our worst haircut here now. Swear they gotta all be high how uneven and patchy the cuts were, unbelievablely we did better with no experience cutting eachother hair to fix it. Never again will they see me or anyone I know. read more

Quick service, they took us right in. The cut was efficiently quick and painless. They did a great job as well. Place only takes cash and has a nice "long time in business" ambiance. Decorated perfectly to cater to locals and students alike with PSU player posters and little league world series banners. Price was extremely reasonable at 10 bucks a cut compared to the local competitors being a few bucks more. read more

This is one of State College's hidden gems. First, they give damn good haircuts! I have never walked out of there looking bad. Second, the price. 10.00$ for a haircut is amazing in this town. Adding in a 5$ tip, they are still cheaper than any big time shops. Third, they are open 6 days a week and til 6:00 THATS rare for a barber shop. Fourth, excellent parking. No more driving round and round like you have to for other places. The ONLY negative thing is that they only take cash or checks, but if you know ahead of time, it's not an issue read more

Unfortunately this isn't the best place I've been to for a few reasons. 1. I've been there only once because every other time I drive by the place is closed, naively I thought the hours would be the same as Supercuts or Holiday Hair. 2. They don't take credit cards which is an inconvenience, I have a part time business and even I can afford to accept credit cards. 3. This is personal preference but I'm not a fan of small talk and the barber kept asking me questions even though I was avoiding a conversation, learn to take a hint already. I suppose I can't complain for 10 dollars, just make sure to bring cash and check the hours. UPDATE: I feel like they won me over, I've been going there for a while and I haven't had a bad haircut. It's a small business so there are always quirks, in the end a good haircut and a good price is all that matters. read more

my bf showed them a pic of what he wanted and they did something totally different. it was really off i wouldnt go here

Shop gets you in and out which is nice but that is about all they are worried about...haircuts are not that great!

I had long luscious hair that went down past my shoulders. I asked for the ends to be cleaned up and for them to save the length. I showed them a picture of exactly what I wanted, and said "can you do this?" The barber said he could, then turned around and started shaving my head. 4+ years of growing out my hair is gone. Now the hair on top of my head is three different lengths, and the sides aren't even faded in. I've never been more disappointed with a barbershop and I will not be returning. This place is not worth your hard earned money read more

If you want quick and cheap this is the place for a cut. I used to go here a bit but would frequently have myself or my wife find issues with neck not being straight, uneven cuts the next day. Its not a bad shop, you just get what you pay for. read more

The staff is nice, professional, and it's definitely the best value for a haircut in town. I keep my hair pretty short, so I have to get it cut pretty often. I always get a neat, consistent cut. I take my boys there, and recommend it to everyone who asks. Keep up the great work! read more

I've gone here several times and so far it's my favorite barber in State College. The price has gone up to $12, which is still reasonable. Like many places, the quality of your haircut will vary depending on which barber you get. It will also depend on how much of a hurry they're in. I appreciate that they want to get as many people through as possible, but sometimes the sacrifice the quality of your haircut for speed. All of the people who work there are reasonably friendly, the place is nice enough, and there's plenty of free parking. read more

Always have had fast service here. However, the two times I've gone here the stylists (different ones) have given a fair amount of attitude for a really routine trim. They also only do clippers & comb cut, so a scissor-cut is out of the question (which is strange, considering that it's a barber shop). The haircut was done hastily, and after I was able to actually shower and style my hair recognized that it's very choppy on the sides, which makes the hair stick out sideways and not stay flat. Unfortunate, as the price is so cheap, but will probably pay the few extra dollars to get it done somewhere else from now on. read more

Very quick and efficient. Barbers are friendly and listen well. Going to bring the kids next time. Price is also very good at $10 and like almost all barbershops they only take cash. To those with dog allergies they do have a shop dog. read more

All of the barbers there are top notch - you can not go wrong. Great place, friendly people, they even have toys for the kids to play with while they wait. I wouldn't go anywhere else for a good men's haircut in State College. read more

The lady cutting my hair left the back completely uneven and it looks horrible - my friends actually just pointed it out to me. I'm a dude and have never complained about a simple haircut before this. She wasn't friendly and spent about five minutes and it wasn't even busy. It shouldn't be hard to run some clippers through my hair and clean up the sides. The last time I went I was happy -I guess it really depends on who you get. FIRST REVIEW I'VE EVER WRITTEN. read more
