I had been growing out my hair a bit and needed a light cleanup at the back so that I could keep it growing out while staying balanced. I requested a half inch off the back and less off the top and then a light fade on my temples. When I ask for a "zero fade" starting near my ears (and I elaborated on exactly what I wanted), it means the peak of the fade from my beard is a zero and then it FADES up. This lady said "zero ok" and then scraped a trimmer with no guard down 4 and a half inches of my temple. Within 3 seconds, my hair was ruined, it was like I was wearing a hat of hair sitting 3 inches above my ears. I didn't say anything because I was kind of in shock and wanted to see what she was going to do to save this but it didn't get any better. She took over an inch off from every side and my flow has been completely neutered. Not what I asked for at all, like not even close. I literally just wanted a light cleanup. I have gone to this place several times in the past few months and most of the time I get a really nice lady that does a great job but this time I guess it was my turn to sit on the butcher block. This has convinced me it's time to pay more than $35 for a haircut. read more

If you have the opportunity to have Aracelli cut your hair or even color..she is awesome, but prepared to book quickly or in advance. The same goes for all of them. I have been going to CC for a few years, she is also top-notch, attentive, perky laughing and always smiling. The cut that she gives is always spot on and great. So if you can also book with CC make sure you get in fast. Actually, every single one of them that works at this particular Super Cuts is top..they are held to high standards by their manager Aracelli. You are in good hands. In a world of modern cuts and trying to find the right barber and stylists give Super Cuts Mt View on El Monte a try. Again they listen, pay attention to your needs and are excellent at customer service. So if you are in Mt View/ Los Altos, Palo Alto even Menlo Park or beyond..come on in! I have been there many times when I have seen some over the top customers talking to the stylists not so kindly. I would say those people are lucky that I did not have those sheers or shaver.I would of given them a mohawk!! :) But these barbers/ stylists are very kind despite the demand of some obnoxious customers, believe me, I have seen it all. We all want to be respected, and they deserve that as well. Just understand that they pride themselves in customer service and nice work. Remember, you are not paying $40 nor $50.00 for a haircut, so it is a great value and great work for the price. Pay close attention to what they are doing or you'll end up a result that's a lot different than you had in mind. When the girl asked how much I wanted off I said 1.5 inches and that I wanted to keep the front and top long. What I got was more than 4 inches off and my hair is now 1.5 inches short. Now I have to wait for it to all grow back! Normally they are pretty good and I been a customer for over two years, but if they don't understand an instruction then they should confirm it before moving forward. I normally don't post reviews, which means I'm generally ok with the service, but this time I must. First of all, all the stylists that have cut my hair have been courteous and professional for the most part. I go to this location on a semi regular basis (always tip at least 20% and get a shampoo as well) and after this last cut I will never return. The customer service is poor and I must say that Aricelli is the rudest, most disrespectful, stylist/manager I've met! I've noticed her behavior in the past, but this past visit it really came out and effected me personally. I'm an Army vet and received an email from SuperCuts about a 10 dollar haircut on Veterans Day. I mistakenly found after trying to redeem it, that it was for the Daly City location. Instead of explaining the issue with the coupon, Aricelli decided to make me feel guilty for trying to redeem the coupon. She stated that "...we can't allow a 13 dollar discount during these times" and made me feel like I was being petty and unreasonable for asking for the discount. She then hastily asked me if 2 dollars off would be ok. I was aghast and said whatever. She then said, or I'll give you 3 dollars off. She just realized it was more beneficial for her to give me 3 dollars off my next cut instead of the cut I just received. I didn't catch her change up and paid full price for the cut and a 3 dollar card for next time. Wow!!! I thought. This is one reason why veterans feel guilty about getting free or discounted things on Veterans Day. We are not asking for handouts, but when your corporation states that it cares about veterans, please follow this up with action. In this case have the discount cover all locations and if not, ensure management knows about the offer. It would also help if the managers know that it is Veterans Day! read more

I wish I could give 0s. Came here because I was desperate for a cut, it had been 2 or 2.5 months but that's the only way I'd be here anyway. Even expecting a low level cut, I was blown away by how bad this person was at their job. Showed them a picture of what I wanted and got nothing even close. Different sides of my head were at different levels of hair. I asked why this was and got after some mumbling "it's just curly". Ok so if you didn't think you could cut my hair, why did you agree to cut it. My hair isn't even "difficult" like some others could be. It just isn't straight or wavy. I'm sure if someone were a qualified hair stylist, they wouldn't struggle with a really common hair type. After telling her what I'd like fixed, after a couple minutes she said "I don't know what else I can do, I don't want to cut anymore off the top". I respond "yeah I wouldn't want it shorter either". She proceeds to keep trimming the top of my hair. I honestly don't know why we keep letting Supercuts be a thing. The standard for people to get hired there seems to be "do you own a pair of scissors?". It's a complete joke. After this horrible experience, she doesn't even clean the hair from my face, hands or neck. They literally do the BARE MINIMUM. They cut hair. Badly. Don't come here for any other reason. Then they have the gall to ask verbally for a tip. Bro just leave it as an option on a screen so I can leave your deserved 0% tip in peace. If you don't feel guilty about messing up my hair then I shouldn't feel guilty about not giving you more than $23 (the jokes keep coming). read more

We had a terrible time today at Supercuts El Monte. The appointment was at 2.30 pm for my son. Towards the end of the haircut, we were asked for feedback, and we requested a shorter side and back trim - and stylist (Blum?) got irritated and was quite rude to us. When the issue was raised with the manager, we were essentially told that the culture is to get it right the first time and thus there is little tolerance for change requests because "we are not paid much", and that "we are understaffed". The manager was very aggressive too. Very negative experience overall. There is quite a bit of subtle racism where white people seem to get a different standard of customer service, and others are made to feel unwelcome. I do intent to go back to the location again for more haircuts for the family, as well as get our friends and community members to watch out and call out other such instances of misbehaviour by this team. read more

Absolutely the worst haircut experience of my life. I've been to this location many times over the past few years, but today I received a haircut that is absolutely different than what I asked for. From the beginning of the cut I showed a picture of my previous cut from 6 weeks ago - I was told that handcut was not possible, that I was wrong about the cut and the hairdresser proceeded to cut huge chunks out of the front of my hair after I repeatedly made it clear that that should be longer. It will take weeks to grow in properly now. Because I've had many other positive experiences here I feel that it is important to let others know that the stylist's name is Yelena. I haven't stuck with one hair stylist, but as long as you can describe what you want, they're all great at giving you a pretty great cut. The Hot Towel Refresher at the end of your haircut is pretty great and is a standard at Supercuts, I'm told. Don't forget to make an appointment before you go. Poor customer service. I came in explaining my idea to the hair stylist, saying quote "I also have photos." She said "that's okay, I have an idea." First, red flag- one ALWAYS needs to take in account the customer's interest. Then at end of my cut I explain to my hair stylist I wanted parts shorter, bangs, and then showed her my 3 photos. She need a second opinion. Hair stylist #2 came in and proceeded to interrogate me with a rude tone about how long I have wanted bangs she said "was it in the last 5 minutes you decided?", and how "next time I need to bring photos." Excuse me? I did bring plenty of photos, and you have no right to talk to any customer like that. I will not be taking my business to this establishment. Final conclusion: You get what you pay for. I used to be a nupty who paid around ~$50-70 for a mens haircut, but since then I've wised up and started on a journey to find a hairdresser, with the same level of attention to detail, at a fraction of the price. My journey, so far, has landed me in the seat of Yelena at Supercuts -- a uber knowledgeable older russian lady. I have become a repeat customer because she does a great job -- listens to your styling wants and executes them pretty well. My hairstyle is a mens bouffant, typically I have a look in mind, and I do my research with pictures. I handed these over to Yelena and she knew what to do to make it so. My hair is also quite thick, so that is an added challenge. I've also noticed the tools Yelena uses are top notch. I've sat in chairs of other stylists, and their cutters either yank my hair or leave it feeling like a poorly cut lawn. Yelena's cutters are smooth and seem to cut finely -- I leave with a fresh feeling head. Overall, I recommend Yelena at the new Supercuts in Mountain View. As long as you know what you want, and discuss the cut with Yelena, you will come out with a good haircut -- all for under $20. read more

She was very kind and good at understanding what I was looking for. As the haircut progressed, she assured everything was going as I wanted by checking in with me often.
