Got the Chicken and Sausage Gumbo Potato. The chicken had absolutely no flavor, was as white as computer paper, and reminded me of cat food. The sausage was as if someone in Maine attempted making Cajun sausage. The roux as you could guess, also had no flavor. The toppings I got made it a little better, and the potatoes weren't bad. There was too much stuff on the plate, and very little seasoning/flavor on anything. It was definitely not worth the money and made my stomach queasy after. Not a good experience. Now, this is the only item I have ever got from Super Taters, so maybe this dish just isn't good compared to the others. Just stopped in here on our way home from NOLA, we have something similar where we're from in TX, serves a variety of potatoes and wings and we thought we'd check the La version and boy did it exceed our expectations! My husband ordered the Gumbeaux Tater and he said it was phenomenal! I ordered a cheeseburger and baked potato soup. They don't have fries here which was a relief, typically every joint wants to serve you fries with your burger but they had a few choices. Anyway, the potato soup was amazing, best I've had. It was more cheesy and not as thick and heavy as most potato soups. The cheeseburger was great too, made to order, came on a grilled bun, good flavor! The ambiance was great too, which was completely generated by the owner. He was great, very friendly, helpful, and kind. The place is small with only a few tables, reminds me of a place my dad would've loved, deli/diner. Anyways, back to the ambiance, he owner made a point to personalize the experiment, taking care to ask everyone in the establishment of the likes their meal, and he had a way about him that created a community environment, he had tables talking to other tables, discussing their meals and their tastes in food! It was a very enjoyable experience. Before I left, I went to the restroom and discovered a very cutely decorated hallway and an incredibly clean restroom, to match the meticulous cleaned restaurant. In fact it was hard to narrow down our choice! My 12yo son stayed safe with a burger, while we had a classic loaded potato, a frito pie potato, and a Boudin Jack potato. All were incredible. Great menu options. Take a minute to peruse all of your choices. The portions were plenty, the flavors were great, and the service was top notch. Food is extremely good, I would definitely recommend. However the owner was extremely aggressive and kind of rude. Upon arrival he asked us if we had ever been there before, we said no, that it was our first time and that we needed a second to look at the (quite literally jam packed wall) menu. There is a very extensive menu, and pictures were provided- which is a huge plus. He was persistent about trying to help us pick out what we wanted to avoid over crowding in the building, with Covid restrictions in mind. I respect that, however there was never more than 5 people in the lobby the entire time we were there. And on top of that there were a few people in the kitchen, visible through the window, who were not wearing a mask. We felt rushed. Manager of super tators in Scott, Jerry can not comprehend his own menu and is a total idiot! Ordered multiple times before and had no problems however tonight I order from waitr which asks specifically what I want on my potatoes. Ordered received and it's COMPLETELY incorrect and I never complain about food however after paying $40 for two potatoes it warranted calling to have it corrected. This fool asks if there was a "pause" in the description. It blatantly states "your choice of sauce, cheese, bacon and chives" in Jerry's eyes bacon is standard um no it says "your choice" and i did not choose it! Apparently Jerry thinks someone is reading the menu to me. It's sad bc I've ordered here several times but just can't deal with arguing idiots instead of offering to correct the problem of your establishment. My biggest issue is that portion sizes were huge and spuds were a little expensive. Three spuds for lunch costs us over $40. The spuds were good, but not amazing. I thought there was too much stuff on them. I got the crawfish and shrimp spud, which was amazing after I removed the thick layer of cheese and bacon from the top. read more
