I stopped into Super Silver yesterday to kill some time and try on rings. The salesperson working there was nice but struck me as a little odd. After about five minutes I headed out without buying anything and went on with my day... or so I thought! Ten minutes later the girl hunts me down in another store and accuses me of stealing a ring. Although I do not appreciate her harassing me, I try to be reasonable and offer to return to the store and look for the ring. I look for a couple minutes while she threatens to call the cops. Finally I try to reason with her and offer to pay for the ring (at this point I would much rather pay $50 than spend another minute with her) but she says that wouldn't be fair to me (Implying that somehow getting law enforcement involved is a better idea?) Finally she says she'll let me go if she can charge me, I kid you not, A FIVE DOLLAR INCONVENIENCE FEE. At this point I am pretty livid and ask her if she usually treats customers like this -- falsely accusing them of stealing rings and then charging random "inconvenience fees". I take my credit card and ID and leave the store letting her know I will not be returning. I decided to read some other Yelp reviews, and low and behold, this establishment falsely accuses people of stealing jewelry ALL THE TIME. If there is a manager reading this, you should be very ashamed of the way you treat your customers. I felt completely harassed yesterday and I was honestly robbed by your salesperson. If this is the kind of business you are trying to run, I will make sure to tell everyone I know not to step foot in that store. I am considering calling management and giving them a piece of my mind, or calling my credit card company and making sure that ridiculous $5 inconvenience fee is not charged. I don't even know if I feel comfortable with Super Silver having my credit card information. Never in my life have I been so shocked by horrible customer service. At the very least I want 50% off my $5 inconvenience fee as promised on your sleazy flyers. Absolutely f*cking horrible establishment. Do not give them your money. read more

This shop tarnishes the reputation of business on Pacific street. It was the worst experience buying jewelry my wife and I have ever had, and we will never go back! The shop owner offers service on par with that of a bar stool. And what's worse, they cheated us!!! They "calibrate" their scale right in front of the customers, but it is a sham! I am an engineer, so I had a problem when they used a 1000 gram weight to calibrate a scale for ~5 grams of jewelry. This is like calibrating your bathroom scale with a Ford F350. Completely meaningless and misleading. The accuracy of a scale changes over the range of measurement. So while I was satisfied that if I happened to be buying $10,000 worth of silver that day the scale would be accurate, I knew she was cheating me on the $40 worth of silver we were buying. I made a scene about it in the store until my wife became so embarrassed that I finally just choked it down. To placate us as we were paying, the shop owner said she'd give us a few dollars off. But then while the girl at the counter is punching it out on the calculator she quietly tells her to add 10% back onto the total!!! But the girl with the calculator is too dim to understand what she was supposed to do! It gets to the point where I am staring the shop owner in the eye while she explains how to properly rip off my wife and I to the girl at the counter, and my wife is so near the point of tears that I have to swallow it an pay anyway. This was shortly after they opened so they have likely improved the routine, but we will never be going back and I am looking into how to file a consumer affairs complaint. NEVER GO HERE! read more

Wow. I would not suggest browsing or purchasing anything from this store!!! Not only do they have junky jewelry, but they have the worst customer service I have experienced! I walked though the store quickly with my sister and tried on ONE ring while a sales associate carefully watched over us. While we were leaving a salesperson ran after us and falsely accused us of stealing a ring. In disbelief my sister and I showed then our ring free hands and were shocked by the way they handled the situation. They still did not believe us and told us that we could not leave the store until they checked the store footage. We complied and ten minutes later the salesperson came back to tell us we were fine. There was no sincere apology at all! The employees were really unprofessional and extremely rude!! I have worked in sales for higher end stores and this is not the way to treat customers even if they have stolen something! You do not accuse or confront customers this way! The store needs to invest time in better professional employee training and teach their employees manners! I would NEVER recommend Super Silver to anyone! read more

Man... Supersilver!! One star because You really burned a loyal customer who has returned countless times, and has spent more money then i care to admit on your jewelry... Not just me, but my boyfriend too! Every time my boyfriend and i come to SC to visit, we ALWAYS make a point to go to super silver and most likely end up buying a few rings or bracelets. First, ill say ive never ever have had a problem with customer service, dude who works there has always been super chill and one of the reasons my boyfriend and i have continued to support the store. Ok so, i found and fell in love with a Navajo Indian sterling silver feather bracelet, that of course was priced at around $700-$800... Woah!! I definitely was going to pass until CELESTE (hey girl remember me?!) decided she would give me a "managers special" on the bracelet and marked it down to around $300... Thinking i struck gold, i handed girl my card. Today out of boredom i decided to do some research on my bracelet. I found the same bracelet you sold me with your "managers special" online for even cheaper. Same bracelet, same stamp by M. Thomas junior, same details, quality and weight. Im sooooo disappointed you (probably not Celeste but the owner) had it marked at $700 so that way when u gave me a "deal" it seems like a legit savings. I now question all of your guys' prices and integrity, and feel like a full blown idiot for spending money on something i thought i would never see again. Especially with what i thought was an amazing deal! Now i know, it really was to good to be true. Anything marked that high has intentions of being marked down for the consumer to believe they are saving money. After that last experience, im good. Deals arent really deals at Supersilver. When you lose, dont lose the lesson. read more

I am happily awarding my first bad review to Super Silver on Pacific Ave. Customer service is extremely lacking. In this case it is not the employee's that are sub-par, it is the owner. She seems to think that snide remarks are appropriate. Unfortunately, the owner completely embarrassed herself. While the quality of some silver is okay, I noticed a lot of older, dingy items. Happy to say I will never be back. By the way, the fluorescent flyers being passed out are tacky. read more

Bloody awful. Bought a ring for my honey that didn't fit, immediately brought it back for another size....they didn't have it. Guess what, the minute you give them your $$$ you will never get it back, NO CASH RETURNS, NO GRACE PERIOD. Customer service was terrible, the person who waited on us was sweaty, nervous and obviously distracted by something. I went to the flea market and found the same ring from a dealer for 75% less BTW. Tards. read more

There were two girls. One that actually helped us but the other was on the phone and really rude. She was the only one apparently that could ring us up and she still didn't hang up. Then she packed two nose rings when we only wanted one and when we corrected her she told her friend on the phone "sorry I have to call you back cause this transaction is being difficult." Not a good experience. read more

PLEASE STOP TRYING TO GIVE ME FLYERS! I live in SC and of the homeless situation downtown doesn't get me solicited enough now the businesses are jumping in. The guy who usually hands them out seems so nice, but no one wants those flyers. They just end up on the ground or in the trash. And for a store who has so many tree pendants and rings I would really think you would care more about not wasting their byproducts. Oh, and your stuff is overpriced. read more

I have "Super" sensitive skin, so my ears will react to cheap metals. It usually doesn't react to Sterling Silver- but in this case when I purchased super silver earrings, my ear lobes swelled and bled when I wore them for a bit. Basically, my ears reacted and showed me that their "Super Silver" is nothing more than cheap jeweler y. read more

Nice selection, terrible customer service with absentee owner.

Went in today... one lady was yelling at someone on the phone, the other walks up to me and says hi. I ask if they have fire opals, she points me to the opal case... at the blue ones. "No, fire opals. The red/orange ones." She takes on a really condescending tone and says "no........ fire opals are the *blue* ones......." Learn your product, learn customer service. And don't "correct" a customer when you're the one who is wrong. read more

I'm really confused by all the bad reviews about this place. As far as their merchandise goes, they have a huge selection and it's high quality: they're one of the only places in town that sell silver that doesn't make your skin green. As far as the service goes: my girlfriend and I came in a couple of weeks ago to pick up some xmas presents, and this rum&coke-perfumed woman was trying to return something without a receipt. One of the employees told her she couldn't return it, so she started screaming, "you guys are all $%^&ing crooks! I'm going to write this all up on yelp! You keep raising your prices, df;sdg[iwdfoidfoa!" Meanwhile, my girlfriend and I were doing that thing where you pretend like nothing's out of the ordinary--the elephant in the room, like, bellowing: "the worlds going to end if I can't get my Fourteen Dollars And Eighty-One Cents back to buy more booze!" Anyway. She finally leaves, and one of the employees (maybe the owner?) came up to us, apologized for the drama, and gave us an extra 10% off coupon. A different employee helped us find some stuff in our price-range, and threw in a free gift box. I mean, nobody had to give us a coupon. But they did. Nobody had to apologize. But they did. So, I figure I owe this place a real review. Maybe the prices have gone up, but the cost of silver has also gone up. Makes sense to me. Maybe some drunkard would rather find problems with one of the only locally owned silver shops than admit problems of her own. But, the receipt thing makes sense to me. I guess the thing that really gets to me the most is that this is Santa Cruz, and I've heard more and more excitement about the target opening up in Capitola lately. And then this woman starts ranting about how she'll tear super silver to shreds. read more

I came across this store while touring the area. I'll admit that the outside of the store looks quite exciting with their large banners that advertise their large selection. I'm not a jewelry snob, but i'll have to admit that a large percentage of their merchandise looks a bit tacky or already tarnished. I'm not saying it's not worth checking out, because were a few pieces here and there that I oogled for a second or two. With that being said, their pricing is a bit shady. I was told that all of the merchandise was discounted at least 50% off. I ended up getting a garnet ring that cost around $22 bucks. I'll agree that it's a bit steep, but I was pretty set on getting it. Yea, their weighing system seems a bit flawed especially when you buy something with a big stone (what are we really paying for?). I'll have to take a stand for their service. The place is a total tourist trap, and I'm assuming that a large majority of their patrons are college students that are just browsing, or worse. While I was there, there were 2 younger girls who spent a ton of time in front of the rings but left without purchasing anything. I can see how this environment might be stressful for the workers, since their merchandise don't have any security tags. I'd probably go back to take a look, but I think I would hold off on making another impulse purchase read more

Everytime I have a bit of spare cash I can't help but come to Super Silver and get something shiny! They have a massive amount of inventory so I always see something new that I love. My most recent purchase was 4 pairs of earrings. (Seems a little nuts but they had a deal going: buy 3 pairs at 50% get a 4th pair for $1) One of the friendly sales people helped me find all the right styles for my facial shape and color preferences. I ended up with a Larimar set, faceted black onyx, baltic amber and seraphinite. She even knew where all the stones were from and what their metaphysical properties where. I was definitely impressed. She also made sure to mention if I changed my mind, I could exchange them for store credit within an alloted time period. But I doubt I'll change my mind. Overall, I love this store and would definitely recommend it to all my friends. read more

I love the selection of rings they have and the girls who work there are pretty friendly, but the quality of their silver is really inconsistent. I bought a ring and a necklace here. The ring tarnished so fast...It didn't even last 2 years! The necklace wasn't as bad but it eventually tarnished as well. Their prices are also really high for such low quality. They seem to always have huge sales, but even with the discounted price I don't think it's really worth it. read more

I've been shopping at Super Silver for the past 15 years, first at their Capitola store, and now at the Pacific Ave store, and I have always had good experiences there. I bought jewelry wholesale for a while, so I appreciate the fact that Super Silver weighs each item and prices it based on the actual market price of silver for that day, rather than just slapping a price tag on it like they would at a mall store. You know exactly what you're paying for at Super Silver, and the prices are often way below what you would pay at a typical jewelry store. The inventory can't be beat! They have so much to choose from! read more

This used to be my favorite store when I lived in Santa Cruz. Seriously, I was obsessed! They have so many beautiful pieces here. I've gotten all my bangles, stone pendents, and rings here. They always have some kind of sale going on and pricing is by weight, so you can buy a few pretty rings (92.5% silver) and not spend an arm and a leg. Customer service is superb although some of the girls come off real ditzy. Sometimes you can't help but laugh. Anyway, no snobs employed here---always willing to help you out! read more

My jump ring on my pendant chain attaching a second pendant at the clasp pulled open for the 3rd time because I'm not as careful as I should be while wearing it. I bopped in early on a weekday. I'm not that attentive when it comes to "jewelry", so I accidentally didn't realize I failed to give the attendant all the info needed to re-attach it just how I wanted, but they remained unfazed and pleasant through 3 separate tries of it, then still only charged me less than a dollar for the new, heftiest-yet jump-ring! I felt almost guilty but they were so nice about it! I got the chain here and have always had great experiences, but this one takes the cake so far because honestly, I was such a dork to forget or not think to mention all the details beforehand even after they re-did it once. Thanks so much, SuperSilver, for being so gracious! read more

As other people said, a minute you give them your money, forget to get it back( store credit in 5 days) I bought a lot of stuff from them and the recently bracelet and ring are for $235 after getting the discount. We go here every year during our family vacation, and I've always enjoyed it. However, not too impressed with the customer service this year!! I found a ring I really liked which was marked at $64 and they sold it to me for 1/2 off. My stepdaughter fell in love with it, so I gave it to her assuming I could just call from home to order another. However, the manager told me that it was store policy to not take credit cards over the phone...they needed to see I.D. This was three days later, mind you, which meant it would be really easy to pull up the previous sale of THE EXACT SAME RING and verify the credit card I used then...WHEN THEY SAW MY I.D.! I looked online and found the same ring for $24 with free shipping, which was $8 less then the "deal" Super Silver gave me. Not so sure I will be going back there next year. read more

First of all compliments to SC, the downtown looks great, glad a lot of businesses are there it seems to work. Went into this store was over whelmed with variety. My friend wanted a rock that said 'PEACE' on it, so I got it. The cashier was a very nice man, friendly and smiled to us. We left, and I just had to go back to get a pair of amber earrings that were a cherry color. Just beautiful, so I bought them. He remembered me and was just as nice and smiling as before. I hope everyone can go in and have as nice of an experience. I look forward to visiting again, next time in town. I really don't know jewelry prices, so I think it was fine for what I paid. read more

I have a friend that goes and works there on her breaks from school and she always comes back saying how pretty the jewelry is. I have been in the store before and just looked around. I went back on vacation and decided to get a ring and a belly button jewel. I love both of them because they are hamsas and I'm addicted to them. I got the ring and wore it for about 12 hours. When I took it off, my finger was GREEN! Sterling silver is not supposed to turn your skin green! I'm really upset! read more

Since moving from Santa Cruz back to the LA area, I have felt a void in my soul from Super Silver withdrawals! I am a silver JUNKIE and this the best place to meet your silver needs. Yes, they always a 50% off deal going on, and yes, that can start becoming suspicious the second and third time you pass by and realize the sale is STILL going on. The second you get over it is the second you can begin enjoying this fantastic store for what it is- silver heaven! I have typically bought rings here and direct anyone who compliments any of my babies to this store to get their own. Despite the negative reviews, in the 6 years I have been a customer, I have never been given dirty looks or felt annoyed by watchful employees. There are expensive pieces of jewelry out in the open and if anything happens to those, the employees would be the ones to pay the price. I truly wish customers didn't take things like this so personally. Anyway, this store has a wide selection of anything and everything silver, from rings, to necklaces, bracelets, earrings, you name it. The prices are reasonable (after the 50% discount, of course) and consistent, meaning you're always getting the real price the silver you're paying for. read more

I bought a mother of pearl ring here just 2 days ago. I feel like it was overpriced (even at "50% off") but I really like it and the location is somewhat touristy so oh well about the price. The selection was also good. The sales girl helping me was friendly and made recommendations after noticing the styles I liked. If the last 5 minutes of my experience here could be erased I'd give it 4 stars. The woman who I assume is the manager, being the only employee in the store able to ring customers up, was very rude as she accused me of stealing. She informed me that on camera she noticed there was a ring missing from a display box near where I was shopping and even suggested that I need to find it before freely exiting the store. This was moments before she glanced down and realized it was out of place close above its intended slot. Of course she did not even apologize but proceeded to sweet talk me while ringing the transaction as if nothing happened; needless to say, I was not impressed. I work in retail and understand that loss prevention is important, especially for a small business. However there must be a more tactful and effective way for this store to prevent theft because service like this will result in CUSTOMER loss. read more

Super Silver really cares about its customers. I bought a silver bracelet from them several months ago that ended up causing me to rash out. When I brought it in they were extremely gracious in examining me and the jewelry in order to find the cause of the reaction. It turned out to be due to a rhodium coating, and so they replaced it with a new, custom fit one. More recently when I bought earrings from them and the following day found one was broken, they found a near replacement and exchanged them free of charge. I have several other examples of such service; I felt overdue for a review. Definitely a great place to take your relatives when visiting and looking for a unique treasure. read more

I have some nice things from here but nothing that I couldn't find something similar somewhere else so if the product is average than the service should be good. I was in there looking at a ring and I dropped it. It wasn't a heavy ring, it didn't hit the ground abnormally hard and in my defense it was dropped while trying to hand it to the lady at the counter, I wanted to know how much it was, and somewhere in the pass off it was dropped. I don't think it was anyone's fault and it really shouldn't matter anyways, a dropped ring should be fine...but nope, the jewel popped out of it's little spot and the lady told me that she would glue it back in and that I had to pay for the ring...uhm? glue it back in? fix it and then make me pay for it? GLUE? must be shitty glue. I drop my rings all the time and the jewels in them never fall out. The ring obviously needed to be re-glued anyways. I told her that I wasn't going to pay for it and she insisted that I had to. I said that I would not so she called the owner of the store to ask what she should do. The owner said that the policy is "break it you buy it" but that I didn't have to...not that I would have. read more

For Christmas I had asked my boyfriend for a pair of Sterling Silver earrings for my sensitive ears. I made the mistake of not telling him the earrings needed to be nickel free. He purchased a beautiful pair of earrings for me from Super Silver Santa Cruz. Unfortunately 2 minutes after putting them on - I knew they had nickel in them and I was unable to wear them. A few days later I went to Super Silver Santa Cruz to return my gift and had a VERY unpleasant experience which has left me unhappy. I will not shop there again and recommend others don't. Here's why: I asked if someone could help me with my return/exchange and I was asked to wait for a Manager. After sometime of waiting the Manager asked what she could help me with. (this woman exuded no warmth or pleasantries). First thing she did was make clear that the store policy is for EXCHANGES ONLY. I need to find something in the store that worked. My first question was "Can you show me the earrings that are nickel free?" Easy enough right? Well no........they are not able to verify if any piece in their store is nickel free or not. I was told that once they take it of the box - there is no way of knowing. Well then the only way I can know if something would work is by trying them on. The Manager was pretty darn adamant that customers are not allowed to try on earrings but reluctantly allowed me to try on 2 pairs (and made me feel horrible for asking). I was not certain if they would work and the manager said if not - I can use my store credit to pick out a gift for somone else. HOW NICE - this was a gift to me. Can't I enjoy it?? After picking out a pair that may work - I had $20-$25 left to use up. I felt stuck having to purchase a pair of crappy gloves that I likely will not use in the future. The earrings I returned home with..........hurt my ears. Sucks. This thoughtful gift turned into a crappy shopping experience with items I'm not enjoying. What a disappointment. What would have made it better? 1. The Manager sucked. It would have been such a better experience with a kinder and more helpful person. Lady - learn how to smile. And your customers are what keep your business going. If you're not in the mood to be pleasant - designate someone else to help customers. 2. I get it. Every business has POLICY. And you cannot make exceptions for everyone. Any good manager knows there are situations/cases that may qualify considering taking care of a customer outside of POLICY. Nothing is set in stone. I would think a satisfied customer would be worth more than being so damn strict & regimented. 3. This is a store that specializes in Sterling Silver jewelry. You have awesome stuff in there. And I'm sure many customers who would appreciate a Nickel Free selection. I'd suggest knowing which of your products are nickel free (or even carrying a line of them). I will not visit this store EVER again and highly recommend others don't. read more
