I got this pretty necklace from this store my mom bought it for me for my birthday and i loved it, i even wore it to my graduation, but it broke. It snapped right at the clasp and i was very upset by it so of course i got a new one, but then a few months later the exact same thing happened to the new one. it snapped at the SAME EXACT PLACE AGAIN at the clasp. It wasn't cheap either it was $40 sure it never tarnished but it's not worth the money if it'll always break at the same exact spot. I prefer silver to gold, which is nice because it tends to be cheaper. The problem is that there are a lot of blends of silver that turn my skin green, so I spend a lot of money on stuff I never really get to wear. Admittedly I was first intrigued by this store because they were having a sale (which apparently happens often), and the prices on jewelry were so good and I liked a lot of styles they offered so I figured it wouldn't matter if I only got a few wears out of them. To my surprise, the two rings I bought (pictured) have never turned my fingers green, and I still wear the mother of pearl ring every day. Unfortunately the other ring's band broke a few months ago, but a year and a half of everyday use is not bad at all for rings that cost ~$15. They have hundreds of slight variations of the same rings, in many sizes. You'll undoubtedly find something you like. I saw a lot of other pieces of jewelry and silver that I liked in the store, but I was on a budget and I knew I'd wear the rings every day. The only thing I didn't like about this experience was the way they treated all of their customers...like criminals. I get that you have a lot of theft and there are a lot of homeless people and dumb college kids that pass through, but maybe not ~eye~ me and my party so hard as we try on some rings next time? Junk jewelry. Every piece my family has gotten me here for gifts has broken at the seam of the bracelet or at the connection clasp on all of my necklaces. The clasp completely detaches from the necklace and would have to be soldered somehow back onto the necklace. Which is expensive. I love Super Silver, they have a great selection of jewelry and prices really are a great deal (50% off year long). People keep complaining about the quality but considering the jewelry is marked half off then you're pretty much getting what you pay for...which is common sense. The customer service is usually spectacular and very helpful. However, I went in yesterday and the girl at the cashier was extremely negative and rude. Instead of being pleasant and friendly, she abruptly said, "whose jewelry is this" to my friend and I when asking who was paying first. She then went on to rant about how much she hated the weather outside after rudely snatching my debit card. Definitely needs to work on her attitude or maybe just not work in customer service. I originally came in here because I wanted to find out what my ring size was (6 for future reference for myself). I walked in and was greeted immediately by a friendly employee. She asked me if I needed help with anything and told her that I would like to find out what my ring size was. She kindly redirected me to another employee and he handed me a keychain with different ring sizes on it and I tried them on. When I found out my ring size, I thought that I might as well get a ring here. I always wanted to get one of high quality so I bought a sterling silver ring. There is NO rhyme nor reason to how the employees "work" here. I bet they lose 98% of sales due to their lack of a working system. I tried VERY HARD to give them $76 for a chain and pendant but the only cash register open had someone standing chatting with a customer for half an hour. I asked many times when we can pay? And was told after that group got done. They should have taken the chit chatting to another part of the counter. I went outside to get air because this was so annoying and I felt sick at that point and a female employee follows me out arguing with me! She was also holding the chain I think that my son and I were TRYING to buy and rubbing it around in her hands. This chain went thru at least 3 employees paws during this covid virus. If someone asks for an inexpensive chain and cross pendant and say they want total price to be such and such? Why can't that happen quickly? It should! My son got mad at me because I had to walk out. I think it is a scam and they just do the no prices on things and then say all is half off and sit there with a calculator to bamboozle and fool people. This started out as a 5 Star review for Celeste, who took time with me to make sure I picked out the right bengals for me (and at $200!). Then I decided to come back and exchange them for a smaller size so they didn't fall off my wrist (especially after I spent $200 on them). Over the phone, the manager Andrea was very accommodating and she even made an exception on the timeframe since I don't live in the area. I make it back the following weekend and Andrea happens to help me. At first she was pleasant. Then, as I was trying on different sizes (since the point of me coming back was to get a smaller size), she started to get impatient and admitted to getting frustrated that I was bending the bracelets (one turn taking them off and on doesn't get them out of shape- they were already warped). After admitting to getting frustrated, I could see she was not in a helpful mood. I ended up walking out with less bengals (8 instead of 9) and at a smaller size, yet somehow she ended up charging me $25 MORE. She had no consideration of the fact that I drove a long distance to come back to her store or that I had already raved about the service experience with Celeste. While waiting for a movie to start I wandered around Pacific Avenue. Super Silver caught my eye with their windows full of trinkets, I had to stop in. WOW! I could spend hours in here looking at all their great items. Thousands of rings, gorgeous pendants, necklaces, and bracelets. I made my way from the right side where rows and rows of rings filled tables around the back, and around the left. Beautiful turquoise and coral. Very friendly staff eager to answer questions, but not the pushy associate you'd typically find in a jewelry shop. My daughter found and item she wanted to purchase, which was given at a sale price. (Even better!) At check out she was given a coupon for a percentage off a future purchase. Though we aren't from the area, she was excited to receive the discount, and future discount card. When customer service is poor, sometimes the selection doesn't matter. Super Silver does not follow the Visa and MasterCard rules about customer ID. MasterCard and Visa explicitly prohibit retailers from requiring an ID to accept a signed card. After I spent 30 minutes in the store, having pleasant interactions with the sales clerks, the "high" of shopping was ruined when the cashier insisted on seeing ID for my debit card. It is not "for my protection" that Super Silver requests ID; if there were an unauthorized charge, then my card company would handle it! I do not appreciate this merchant excuse. They are trying to protect themselves, but they are ignorant about how to do so. They are already protected by only accepting signed cards. I work hard for my money. I have a professional demeanor. I do not appreciate being treated like a freaking criminal. And even if I had seemed scummy, the law protects me against some millennial's value judgments. Henceforth I will buy my silver elsewhere. This is a really popular stop if you're into the Downtown Santa Cruz area - there is a lot of stuff here, rings, earrings, necklaces, bracelets, lord - they've got it all. Without fail there is always someone out side handing out their most current deal - which is helpful if you'd like to hold on to it and come back before you leave. The staff is attentive and helpful. They always make sure to super shine your purchase before you leave and I've always had really great luck with finding some hidden treasures. Well priced for silver and always having a good bargain is nice when looking for gifts. My one hold back from the 5 stars is the way the store is laid out, I know they can only do so much with how much they have but it can be a little overwhelming and confusing; perhaps they will change it so that there are specific areas for each type of jewelry. Just be warned that you get what you pay for -- the stuff here is cheap and always on sale which is awesome, but (no surprise here) the quality is terrible. I've bought from here many times and had several items break or become damaged ridiculously quickly (faster than even super crappy cheap jewelry from Claire's). Most recently I bought a pair of jade earrings and they fell apart within a few days. Stone, backing, and all! I purchased a $550 Paul Livingston cuff. Within a few months, the inlay begin to crumble. I wear multiple bracelets stacked and because this cuff was actually hollow on the inside, one occurrence of a larger cuff slipping on top of it caused it to crumble. It started with a crack and within a few days the whole piece begin to crumble. I have a good friend who's a well know Navajo silversmith so I gave it to him to try and salvage what's left. Being an expert himself he was able to identify that the bracelet was made in a way to appear solid to raise the price, but in fact was done in a cheated way. I know this isn't the store's fault but they have awful customer satisfaction policies. From prior experiences, I wasn't going to even bother with them. It's costing me another couple hundred to fix this bracelet. Two sets of earrings I purchased also broke extremely quickly on their hinges. Overall out of 6 purchases here I was only happy with 2. I do have a piece I love from the SLO store, but it had a blemish so I got a really good price on it. read more

I absolutely HATE this place and it's employees and I would never return or recommend this business to anyone. I went here for the first time about two weeks ago, and my husband bought our youngest daughter a pair of earrings (on sale because everything is always on sale). We liked the earrings and considered buying more. So we went in today. As soon as we walked in, a small Asian girl with colored hair made a beeline for us and as my husband pointed out a ring to me (placing his finger on the glass of the display case) the girl yelled "please DONT touch the display cases! We can't have you touching the display cases! If you want to see something, ask me and I'll show it to you!". We literally weren't even allowed to look at anything because she harassed us the moment we got there, and after the way she spoke to my husband (it literally felt like she thought he was about to open the display case and take off with something) I turned to my husband and told him I didn't want him to spend his money in that store.
