Lone Mountain Concrete

I just want to recognize these guys that are doing all of my concrete work for the house! These…read moreguys are truly amazing! They work together and are highly efficient! They did everything to get this job done as quickly as possible. They are precise, accurate, timely, reliable and on top of it! They are a local company in the area. My contractor uses them a lot and I can see why! Thank you Lone Mountain Concrete! I HIGHLY recommend!

Lone Mountain Concrete Review: I recently had a Semi-Custom…read morehome built by one of the well-respected builders in the valley. Overall, the Builder did a very good job on the construction. The Superintendents cared about quality and were well experienced. Also, most of the Sub-contractors were top notch. The concrete Sub-Contractors (Lone Mountain Concrete) I was less than impressed by. In fact, knowing what I know now, I would not personally hire this contractor to do a 5'X5' sidewalk panel replacement in front of my residence. So, for a little about my background and experience in the construction industry. I have been involved in Civil Engineering construction field operations for over 40 years with approx. half that time spent Supervising and Managing an Inspection Team for probably the largest Agency in the Valley. I am an ACI (American Concrete Institute) Certified testing Technician who passed all testing with a perfect score. I also hold an ACI Concrete Finisher Certification and have facilitated training classes for concrete Inspectors for over 20 years. I know a bit about quality means and methods for concrete placement. Other than to say that I personally would never use this contractor, I will not be saying anything negative about them. I will however provide the facts to my experience with them, provide pictures, and let you draw your own conclusions. A few months back I added a 20' X 17' concrete slab to my new home by change order through my Builder. After Lone Mountain had prepared the subgrade under the concrete, I checked it with a stringline, and it was over 1" too high in the middle reducing the concrete depth to less than agreed to. In their defense they may not have been completed with it and ready to pour. Regardless, I corrected the grade myself. Weather conditions were warm and the subgrade was very dry. Based on my experience, it is very important to water down dry base material in this condition prior to concrete placement to avoid the dry material pulling water from the concrete allowing the concrete to hydrate too quickly. I arrived early Monday morning and the concrete was already placed. Knowing how dry the base material was, I asked the Finisher if they had soaked down the subgrade with water prior to the placement. He said they had. When the finishing was almost completed, I asked the finisher if they were going to take some sort of steps to cure the concrete, maybe as simple as placing liquid membrane (curing compound). He said they didn't do that. I told him would you at least be leaving the wood forms in place for a day or so to help the concrete retain the moisture and hydrate a little more slowly. He said they would. I went back out about an hour after the concrete was finished to find that they had already removed the forms, leaving the exposed edges of the concrete to the warm and windy weather. I figured OK I will give the concrete a few hours to take a good set and would try to mist the top of the new concrete with water to counteract the lack of any effort to properly cure the concrete. Within two hours after finishing the concrete and before I could even begin to mist the concrete, a significant horizontal crack appeared most of the way across the slab. Since the crack did not go all the way from edge to edge, I believe it to be shrinkage cracking caused by premature removal of the forms, no steps taken to properly cure the concrete, and possibly improper moisture conditioning of the base material prior to pour. Knowing that shrinkage cracks often aren't structural nor do they penetrate the slab entirely, I asked that the contractor at least come back and inject epoxy into the crack to try and avoid it getting worse. They told me, through the Builder's Superintendent, that they viewed the crack as being acceptable and had no intention of doing anything with it. I believe the value and quality of a contractor is measured by them doing the small things to ensure the quality of their work and providing the customer service to try and make their customer happy. I observed no effort on the part of this contractor to look out for their customer. Their finisher did a decent job finishing the concrete but what good is this effort if you have no intention of protecting your final product. I'm adding picture so everyone can determine if what this contractor believes is acceptable cracking will also be acceptable to you. It certainly is not to me on my new home.

I had been contemplating the kitchen refresh for sometime; on the recommendation of a fellow trades…read moreprofessional I visited Rise Above's showroom in Anthem, with ideas and photos on my iPad in hand. Brett Buckner (owner) helped me make my preliminary selections so that he could come out to my home within a few days to do a comprehensive measuring and fully understand my needs/wants. Within a week I had a detailed quote emailed. We did a follow-up to make some revisions to the plan and thus the quote. I had done some other shopping, the bid was competitive, but just as importantly, they had done work at my home before and also had recommendations from people I knew personally. Upon award of the job, I was assigned a project manager and timelines were established; tasks assigned and communication was clear. Most importantly, any time I had a question, I could make a call, and would get answers the same day. During the most intense part of the project, I was only without a working kitchen for 4 1/2 days; and always had a functional refrigerator. Coordination between the cabinet painter, the granite/tile work and plumbing made that possible. Throughout the project both Skyler and/or Marjene would stop in to check on progress to make sure that I was happy and that the quality of work was meeting their standards. The finished product is as I had envisioned it and I am very proud to show off my new kitchen. It's time to get down to some serious cooking! Bon appetite!

Their office staff gave me patient advice that led me to a look I love. Every aspect of the project was perfect. I cannot recommend them highly enough! Price was very fair for the outcome. And they even surprised me with a full house cleaning at the end as we were out of town. What company does that!

UPDATE: ZERO STARS. Right when I had a tenet move in Feb they said the shower leaked. They sent me…read morea video but there's nothing I could do until they moved out so here we are. The shower pan was installed with no liner....that's literally bathroom construction 101. Which means I'm going to have to rip out both shower pans and have them redone costing me thousands of dollars and delaying me renting out the property. Stay the hell away from Russ. This guy is a straight-up con artist who steals and leaves a trail of destruction and unpaid bills. The work he did/subbed out on my shower was a complete joke. It's leaking through the floor pan, rotting the baseboards, drywall, and flooring. I had to chase Russ down just to get the subcontractor's contact info--(don't forget, I paid half of the shower cost direct to the subcontractor when it was already in the budget and was Russ's responsibility but I needed the job done). Russ blew all the money I gave him and it was NOT on my job because he barely bought anything. When I finally called the subcontractor, he told me Russ NEVER paid him the other half--what a shock. The subcontractor promised to get back to me in a week, then promptly disconnected his phone. And I'm sure you can guess Russ quit answering my calls and texts. So not only did Russ steal money from me, but he also ripped off his own subcontractor and left me with a total mess. Russ is the definition of a crook. He'll leave you with unfinished work, unpaid contractors, and a pile of garbage that costs you even more to fix. AVOID HIM AT ALL COSTS. Worst experience ever.

Russ was the only handyman whom I contacted that offered to come out and provide an estimate. During the estimate Russ was able to recognize some of the challenges such as needing to rewire electrical and that it wasn't going to be just taking apart some screws. Thought his pricing was reasonable, he had the tools and knowledge to do everything, the end result looked great, and Russ was an all around cool guy who was pleasant to interact with. Will definitely hire Russ again. Included some before and after pictures

I've had an idea to combine bed 3 with our master bed ever since we moved in a few years ago but…read morewas worried the job wasn't big enough to attract a contractor. Eric replied in no time and emailed an estimate not long after. This job involved drywall (delete a door and add a large arched opening), electrical, custom cabinets, shelves, interior/exterior paint, and a touch of flooring. Eric and his guys did an amazing job. My wife loves the closet they converted into a reading nook. We always felt comfortable with the crew in our house. They worked around our schedule and Eric was always available for a quick check-in so I knew where we were with each step. The two big standouts were the price staying the same even though he did a few extras, and Salvador nailing that 8' high 6' wide arch! We couldn't be happier and would definitely use them again.

The kitchen required removing a wall to open up the closed dark kitchen and adding an oversized bar. Eric was extremely timely and professional in getting us a comprehensive quote. He was also extremely affordable as well. He started work right away and did a phenomenal job. We gave him pictures of what we wanted for the kitchen and fireplace, and he replicated the style to a T - which most contractors can't do without a designer helping them. He also was able to design and order custom cabinets for our pantry. Eric was extremely detail oriented throughout the process, checking in with us as needed for style and safety decisions, and always updated us on cost or possible delays. He also was insanely knowledgable about every area of construction such as dry wall, plumbing, electrical, fabrication, flooring, tiling, etc. This guy really is a one man show - he can do it all. Eric did have a few subcontractors help him with the job and they were always fantastic to work with as well. He knows quality workmanship and partnership. He finished the job in a timely timeframe and our home is gorgeous and the workmanship is quality - for a great price. If you need any renovations done, Eric with E.L. Construction is the way to go. Highly recommend!
