WOW!!! We live right around the corner and have been meaning to come here and it was phenomenal. The portions are huge and so authentic. The dumplings are amazing, best orange chicken I've had, and the fried rice was so spot on. We're so upset because we're about to move but I will be sure make the 20 min drive to come back. Overall. The food was good at Super Dumpling. The best dishes we had were the Beef Chow Fun and Xiao Long Baos. We didn't care for the chow mein nor the garlic eggplant. The chow mein tasted sour and the garlic eggplant was burnt and then covered in chili oil to cover the taste. The ambiance was clean, but unfortunately extremely noisy due to a kids soccer team that was seated next to us. Decided to leave as soon as possible because it was literally hurting our ears. I had a great experience the first time we visited. Both the food and service were excellent. Unfortunately, this visit was a very different experience. Although the restaurant was only half full, the service felt disorganized. I placed an order for three items, and while the first two came out promptly and tasted great, the third never arrived. After waiting about 10 minutes without any updates, I had to flag down my server to ask about it. That's when I found out it was never entered into the system. Something I wasn't told until I asked. No apologies for the mistake. By that point, I had already been waiting over 20 minutes. When I requested the check, they let me know the third item would take another 10 minutes but offered it to me for free. While I appreciated the gesture, the lack of communication was frustrating. I still think the food is very good, but the service needs improvement to match. I hope this was just an off day, because I'd love to return and have the kind of experience we enjoyed the first time. read more

Absolutely amazing some of the best Chinese I've ever had in my entire life. Clean restaurant very kind staff ordering is a piece of cake. The food is remarkable and to die for you need to not walk, but run immediately to eat here. We were able to try Super Dumpling tonight and were very happy. We tried the pork dumplings, string beans, chicken fried rice, and kung pao chicken. Everything was delicious, the best two being the dumplings (what a surprise for a namesake dish) and the string beans. So far, so good. We've been here three times and ended up ordering the same dishes as they were so good! The minced beef and egg soup is a meal in itself. It's hearty, full of flavor, and is highly recommended. The pork and chive potstickers are really fresh -- the best I've ever had. You can smell the chives as soon as you bite into one of them. Just yummy. We tried a new dish, the mixed vegetables, and it was incredible. We love the Lotus Root addition as we've never had it before. They look like little wagon wheels! Really nice addition to the snow peas, carrots and mushrooms. When we arrived at 5, there were a few people there, but by the time we left around 6, the entire restaurant was full. Every table was taken! People love this place. I wish it was a bit more affordable as I would love to come back more often, but it's a bit pricey. The items we ordered were worth it tho'. Amazing little dumpling spot hidden in the back of a strip mall. My coworkers and I went one night after we all got off work and went a little ham when we ordered. The physical menu was better. On the back cover, the paragraph of English text is cut off mid-word ("ketch-"). Each item's major components were listed as "Ingredients". Although that word is often used as part of a Nutrition Facts panel to mean "complete list of ingredients", this overloaded use of the word is somewhat understandable. Unfortunately, when the waiter was asked about a specific item that is often used in sauces, the waiter referred the customer back to the "Ingredients". Inside the building, the televisions show advertisements and videos of cooking. One of the advertisements promoted a time share. Despite requiring customers to watch ads for possibly-unwanted goods and services, the price of each entrée was approximately $19 to $20. The restaurant also uses a surveillance camera from a company that is "reasonably believed to be involved, or pose a significant risk of being or becoming involved, in activities contrary to the national security or foreign policy interests of the United States" (https://www.bis.gov/licensing/guidance-on-end-user-and-end-use-controls-and-us-person-controls). Dumplings and soup are OUTSTANDING. We absolutely love the food here, but the dining area is just not comfortable. They have very thin cushions on wood seats. They just need thicker cushions. That's all. We wish it was because we were dine here more often. The chairs are very uncomfortable, the tables are pretty close together, but that's no one's fault. It's just a small space. If they were better more cushiony seating, it would be a much more comfortable setting. Our dissatisfaction is mainly about the uncomfortable chairs/seating. But they're dumplings are outstanding, especially the chive and pork, and the chopped beef soup is our favorite. We just haven't been back because of the uncomfortable chairs. read more

Edit [responding to comment]: Of course we understand the unpredictable nature of guests canceling their reservations. There was a period of 10+ minutes where we were the only group waiting for a table (i.e. front of wait-list) with open tables on the floor later to be canceled. While you cannot predict the cancellation, your wait staff can manage our expectation throughout that period by communicating to us about the prior reservation, the possible no show (I still don't know it was a no show or cancellation), and that the decision point is X minutes from now. There were several occasions during our wait where your wait staff were just chatting amongst themselves. Chatting is not a problem of course. The lack of expectation management is. After we were seated, the only time a wait staff approached our table other than delivering food for us or got dragged by us to clean out some empty plates from the crowded table was giving me the check (without me asking for the check first) and explaining to us that the group gratuity of 18% is automatically added and ask for me to pay right then. I paid of course, but wow how does just delivering food alone to the table worth 18% service charge? [original review] I'm torn in writing this review. On one hand the food was excellent and deserves a solid 5. On the other hand, the service was so severely suppar that I need to take 2 stars off. We ordered multiple items and surprisingly every dish was delicious. Dumplings, xiao long bao, veggie, tofu, all good. Service problems: they were fine to let us wait when there are multiple open tables for 15 minutes. Then they finally let us sit in one of the open tables. Next, our water jar was empty at the very beginning of the meal and they have never refilled our water once. We had 6 people squeezing in a 4-people table so our table gets crowded. Greatly enjoyed our 1st visit at 5pm on a Saturday (open daily 11am - 2:30 pm and 5-8 pm). We were seated quickly with a sincere smile. The three of us found some tasty vegan options (vegetable XLB soup dumplings, eggplant, vegetable chow mein ordered with extra vegetables), which were all freshly and promptly prepared. Served family style in sequence. The extra vegetables request added bok choy to the original cabbage and onion in the chow mein, which we appreciated very much. Portions were generous. The eggplant dish was very good, mildly spicy, but was almost submerged in (corn) oil. The menu listed other vegetable dishes (sauteed or stir fried broccoli; spinach; bok choy; string beans; mixed), and tofu mapo; but I was hoping for other vegetarian dumpling options from Super Dumpling. The service was some of the best I've ever had ANYWHERE, extremely attentive, respectful and gracious. Our waitress rapidly brought us refills on the pitchers of water for the table. The tables and chairs were very clean, reasonably comfortable and not too crowded. We could easily see the chef preparing the food through a window (dumplings are hand made on premises). We admired the little forest gnomes sitting on the ledges (apparently leftover from Halloween), under the ubiquitous TV screens. Parking was fairly easy, food appears to be fresh and authentic, and a lot closer than Convoy for us! The owner responded to my initial review , and this is my response in return : if you have reviewed the security footage, then you clearly saw me still seated at the table when the high chair was taken away and the sweeping took place. You likely also saw me trying to eat what I can, and pack left overs at the same time since I got the hint that the hostess was hurrying us out. I won't be returning as a customer (even though the noodles were great), but hopefully you can leave patrons to dine at their own pace, especially families with small children. ----------- The dumplings were pretty bland (I got the pork and shrimp flavor). The beef noodle soup was pretty good though. 2 stars because the service we received from the main hostess was unpleasant and uncomfortable towards the end: - She brought us the check unprompted and asked us if we needed go-to boxes. We were still eating, and this was a Wednesday afternoon with plenty of empty tables. So I'm not sure what the rush was. - She took away the high chair from our table, even though I was still eating. My kid stepped outside to play temporarily but still needed the high chair. No other kids were at the restaurant, so again, not sure why she was in a rush to remove the high chair. - Then she started sweeping the floor where the high chair was. I have to say, the positive reviews left for this place was very impressive, but in reality it is not. While in the San Diego area, we had looked through Yelp for nearby eateries. The pictures a selections looks so promising, but the food was at best just OK. I guess if you lived in the area there really isn't much Chinese food selections. What really dropped this to 1 star was the service. We were seated outside as an option since we had already waited 20 minutes for a table. The initial service of getting us water was super quick. That was the best service from then on out. It took roughly 10 more minutes before a waiter came to take our order. It is as if they simply forgot they had customers sitting at their outdoor dinning tables. There wasn't even a time when any waiters came to ask if we needed anything or ask to refill our water. Superb new restaurant!! So many great choices on their sizable menu. Below are a few of my favorites. You can't go wrong with their Xiao Long Bao (XLB). My favorites are pork, spicy chicken, and bulgogi. Their pan fried pork pot stickers are delicious as well. If you like the numbness that mala gives, try their chonqing-style spicy chicken. The sweet and sour fish fillet is quite yummy as well. And don't miss the lotus root salad. The service is great, and you can see the owner(s) put a lot of effort into the space - nice chairs, TV monitors, quartz on the walls and in the restroom, and so on. They even have a table with a motorized lazy susan for large groups. A few tips: -Don't order off the app. -The rice portions are generous, so start with less than you think you need. - The XLB is handmade and takes time to come out, so order it early. read more
