First time customer here today and the lady was extremely nice. By 10:30am she didn't have anymore maple bars but had a lot more diff choices. We paid in cash and I felt embarrassed because I realized I didn't have enough small change to pay and I only had $100 Bill. She was very kind and gave us change to break the $100 she even tossed in two extra free donuts for us. That was very kind I didn't even see her do it until we got back home. We needed "snowball" donut holes for a winter party for my son's classroom. Who knew donut holes were so hard to find?!?!? I called ahead to place the order and was shocked to learn the price of a dozen (like $1.50 if I recall correctly). So we loaded up on 12 dozen powdered sugar donut holes for only $18. I had the kids with me and had the doughnuts already picked out, handed her my ATM card and she handed it back "sorry cash only, you owe me". I was in shock, I wasn't a regular and she just told me to pay her next time. Regardless I went directly to the ATM and returned with the cash but the gesture is something no one in this town would ever do. Located in the shopping center with TJ Maxx (which I frequent quite a bit), this little place is tucked away on the side. Locals seem to know about it. The lady who works here is extremely friendly. I got two doughnuts. The total was $2.75 and I only had $2 on me. The lady said no problem, just get me next time. I stop in here every now and then to treat (bribe) my coworkers with some donut awesomeness. The lady who works here is always super friendly and very helpful. Although, I'm not sure if she can do math because when I order a mixed dozen it always seems like there are a few extra donuts in there... The only reason they don't get a perfect 5 star review is because they only take cash, so I have to remember to hit up the ATM before heading over. My BF returned home yesterday with a surprise donut box. As I tore into it, I excitedly declared, "OMG "VG's has donut holes now!" He hesitantly replied. "Uh, no. I made a Staples run and convenience prevailed. It's some random place on El Camino Real BUT they were so NICE. They topped the box off with all these donut holes which I didn't even order AND I got the whole box for 5 BUCKS!" Sweet. Free donut holes. That rocks. I grabbed one, took a bite and much to my dismay it tasted like chinese food. I'm like, "Do they sell other food there? You know like one of those places that has hot dogs, mexican food, fish AND donuts?" "Um, no." "Oh........ well try one. Maybe it was just the donut hole. It tasted like won tons or something." He takes a bite. "Yeah, mine tastes like, like ginger." The donut box is sacred in our house. It typically undergoes a battle and disappearing act but on this day, it remained full. As one who doesn't like to complain when someone does something nice for me, I later confided to my BF, "You know, I'm a VG's girl. I actually felt kinda queasy all day after that donut hole." "Yeah. Ugh I don't know how this place has so many stars. I was looking for a donut shop to grab a dozen donuts for my daughters birthday. Came here because my original choice was closed. Had good reviews, so I came to check it out. I was immediately grossed out when I walked in and saw this huge tank of fish. To make it worse, the tank was so dirty and cloudy, it looked disgusting. Then I walked over and started ordering donuts. On the 4th donut, little flying bugs (idk if they were flies or nats) we're flying all in the cases. It was so disgusting, I was grossed out. I have been going to this place for many many years since 2000 and it has not changed much. They have all the classic ones and my favorite chocolate cake which are getting hard to find.
