This review is long overdue. Super Burger is awesome! It is the most unassuming looking restaurant imaginable but the burgers are to die for. Always fresh, always made to order always hot. Toppings are available but unnecessary really. The ground beef is the star. I have tried the fries and they are also excellent, but do not stand out like the burgers. 3/5 for overall experience. We heard this place has good burger, so we decided to give it a try. We ordered a cheeseburger combo ($8.95) and a pastrami burger ($8.95 w $0.50 for extra cheese). The portions here are huge, probably twice the size of In-n-Out. The cheeseburger has classic taste. I was more impressed with the pastrami burger. Under a thick layer of pastrami is a big juicy patty. This burger is very flavorful and I really enjoyed it. I had to split the pastrami burger with my husband, cuz it's even bigger than their cheeseburger. I think just one combo of burger and fries here can easily feed 2 people. About customer service: the cashier here has some kind of weird attitude. After my husband gave the cashier his order, he starred at us like are you done yet. I was wondering what got into him, then I saw a lot of Yelp reviews with similar experience. Since the interaction with the cashier was short, it didn't bother me that much at the time. But as I am writing this review, I kinda have mixed feeling for this place . The best-kept secret in Pasadena. A true hole-in-the-wall gem. Super burger smells amazing! If you want a REAL burger with a serious amount of meat, go to Super Burger. This burger shack serves large juicy burgers and I've been trying to recreate the juiciness at home but no luck so far. When my husband told me how amazing this burger place was, I just had to check it out with him to see if it's true! On Wednesday afternoon while waiting for my car's oil to get changed, my husband picked me up from his work (on lunch break) and took me to Super Burger, a classic fast food mom and pop shop managed by a Korean family who really put their heart and soul into this place. There were plenty of tables and chairs to sit outside for your meal. While waiting for our order to get called, I saw how hard and dedicated this family was just by watching the son and mom helping out with the cash register while the father worked on the thick, juicy meat patties with bacon and cheese cooked to perfection. The burger itself was huge with the addition of lettuce, tomato, and thousand island dressing, but very delicious! I also had the crinkle cut fries as part of the combo meal, which was okay and nothing special. When it comes to burgers, you just need a thick and juicy one to satisfy your craving. This was recommended to me by a friend. Finally got to go since they close early and burger cravings hit in the pms. The place is located in a corner. Very simple, no frills burger spot but the flavor is jam packed! We had two of the cheeseburger meals - fries and drinks included. We decided last minute to change one of the fries to make it chili cheese because I saw photos posted and was sold. We just added the difference. Burger was incredibly simple- burger, cheese, lettuce, tomato, thousand island dressing on a nice burger bun BUT IT WAS DELICIOUS!! Very flavorful, the patty and ingredients were all fresh! It's a total dive but the burgers are excellent. We went with the standard hamburger with bacon and avocado added. We received enormous slices of avocado and tons of crispy bacon. The burger patty itself was hand-packed and seasoned well. There was dressing all over it and it was a beautiful, sloppy, delicious mess. I came here around 6 on a Monday. I got the pastrami burger for $9 and split regular sized fries with my best friend Alex for $3. The cashier told us even the regular size was more than enough for 2 people and boy was he right! Our food was ready in 10 minutes. My burger was amazing, honestly among the best in LA. It was juicy. The cheese had started to melt into the patty. The pastrami was tasty and plentiful. The 1000 island tasted like it had more pickle relish than your average 1000 island and I dug it. It was such an enormous burger I could hardly finish it to be honest. I think when I come back in the future I'll get just the regular cheeseburger because that's already so much food on its own. I usually get the Salmon teriyaki - it's a nice big hunk of fish. You get rice and veggies with it. The other teriyaki plates are also quite good. I also like their burgers and fish sandwiches. Trust me! I've enjoyed a few of them in the recent months but this review is to honor Pasadena and its Cheeseburger Week. Did you know the first Cheeseburger was invented in Pasadena? If you didn't, now you do! If you want to Google it you may read that it was invented in a ton of other places too ;) We pulled into the parking lot of Super Burger just a minute or so before 730P on a Wednesday evening. Now, I would never do such a thing on a normal occasion, I know these people have families and places to be but we were stuck in a bit of traffic due to the weather that evening and I was Super hungry. I wasn't sure if they'd take our order or turn us away but they were so friendly and immediately took our order, another customer showed up after 730P who'd called in an order and then as we were about to leave a couple kids showed up and they even let them order. So kind! I wouldn't advise you to show up after closing time but the kindness really stood out. People are hungry and craving cheeseburgers and Super Burger is not closing the window or turning the Closed sign over on you which was very much appreciated. My boyfriend and I ordered classic single patty Cheeseburgers, he asked for grilled onions on his. I had regular fries and he ordered chili fries. I will say, the fries weren't my favorite, either ones - and the chili has beans in it so if a bean chili isn't your thing you may not care for the chili. The cheeseburgers however are 5 STAR OUTSTANDING!!!! The patties are massive and grilled to perfection. If you are ever craving a cheeseburger Super Burger is definitely one of the best in the area. Finally got to try Super Burger and realized what I've been missing. A friend that lives nearby had told me about this place and it's been on my radar for a while. It's at the corner of Villa & Altadena and the parking situation in the lot next to it wasnt so clear so we just parked on the street. I went with the cheeseburger combo ($7.25) which comes with fries & a drink. Not a bad deal considering a cheeseburger (per menu) by itself was the same price... The cheeseburger was great. It was a thick, sizeable, hand-formed patty that was cooked perfectly. It had a little char crispness at the ends but was juicy throughout. It wasnt overcooked. It came with shredded lettuce, a slice of tomato, thousand island and TWO slices of cheese. I think the 2 slices is key because as it melts on to the pattie, each bite really has that great flavor combination of cheese and meat with everything else... The bread was also really good. Surprisingly good. It was soft but was crisp as it was evident it was heated up on the flat top to get that crunch on one side. It was really perfect with this burger. Beefy pattie, tasty cheese and perfect bread. Winner... Order and pay at the first window, get a ticket with your order number on it and pick up at the other window. I visited this place yesterday afternoon and placed an order with who seems to be the owners son. The owners son was very rude and unpleasant when taking my order. I actually feel extremely bad for the owners son who seemed to be in his late 20's its very clear this guy is not working at this place by choice but as his duty towards his father. *** A MESSAGE TO THE OWNERS SON: Do yourself a favor guy and hire a worker to take your place.. someone who has good customer service which clearly you have none and save yourself some happiness.
