My daughter and I stayed here on April 7 & 8 in order to see the total eclipse. This place is scary gross. Starting with check in with a very sketchy manager. Disinfectant smell throughout the place. The room we got had a tv with a non-working remote. The guy had no batteries and didn't care. Eventually he had me go with him room-to-room searching for a working remote. The bed sheets looked like they had been used. There were long black hairs on them. We asked for new sheets. Same problem. The manager said they were "clean hairs," and that the laundry can't remove all hair from the sheets. I've stayed in hundreds of hotels and motels - from Ritz Carltons and Four Seasons to Motel 6, Red Roof and yes, even other Super 8s - over the course of my life, and never have I seen hairs on the bedsheets, dirty, or "clean." My daughter, leery of staying at a Super 8, had purchased disposable sheets on Amazon. I told her I thought she was being a princess. As it turns out, she saved the day. If there is ever another total eclipse centered in Plattsburgh NY, we will stay elsewhere or sleep in the car. read more

If you can afford to stay elsewhere, you should. The location is convenient and the price is low. We are not hotel snobs at all, but this was one of the grossest hotels we have ever stayed in. The sheets were cleaned, and we were grateful for that. But everything else was dirty, gritty, moldy, and stained. I did not want to sit on the couch or touch anything made of fabric. Much of the shower curtain was moldy - although we were thankful for the curved rod that kept it from touching us. The tub had deep dirt stains and grime around the drain, such that we showered quickly so our feet would not soak in the stopped up water. The towels were (hopefully) clean but all very stained. There was dirt, grime and grit in corners of the room, in the handle of the mini fridge, in the corners around the sink. The carpets were full of stains. Just stay somewhere else. read more

This property was conveniently located along my scenic route through the mountains on the way to Maine. I had stayed here a few years ago but neglected to review it at that time. Of I remember correctly, it would have been a three star then as well. But it's location and low price won out again. The desk clerk was very nice and helpful. The efficiency room was clean and roomy for $80, but was in need repair (see pics). The rug had several large unsightly rips right in main floor area. The bathroom was poorly caulked and had pieces falling out leaving a small hole. If the room was repaired properly, it could have been a four star stay. read more

If you have been to a Super 8, you have been to a Super 8. They are all a bit seedy and have issues that you won't experience anywhere else, but being stuck in an unfamiliar place overnight, it's the best place for the price. A regular review does not apply in this situation. Upon checking in (booked on a 3rd party site) I was forced to wait while the desk guy booked a reservation on the phone, very slowly. Another set of guests and I chatted while we waited and numerous "regulars" came to the front with comments. One guy came up to report a vehicle door was left wide open in the pitch dark, no one inside. I saw the door open when I moved our car into a spot we could see it out of the window of the room. I thought someone was inside doing "Super 8 like stuff", as a few ppl milled around the parking lot. Eventually I got checked in, and the review begins here. Common areas: there are no elevators or air in the halls or common areas. Be prepared for heat and mosquitos. The pool was covered with a huge translucent tarp, not sure what that was about. There was a computer dubbed as a business center that served an emergency purpose for work. It kicks you out every so often, just sign back in. Room: Air is off when you enter, so be ready to crank it up and wait for the staleness to subside. The toilet and shower are separate from the sink area (storage/closet corner is where it is). Though it has been remodeled, everything slightly grungy, hair in the bathroom was gross. I cleaned everything with a washcloth dipped in hot water and Dettol, the strongest cleaning agent known to man. Sheets were good on one bed and it was quite comfortable. The towels felt like sandpaper, but great exfoliator . Curtains do not keep out the light so be ready to rise and shine. Fridge was clean as was the microwave, though we didnt use the latter. Staff: very friendly, albeit the night guy didn't know much. They made it a little better. Area: a little shiesty, but safe enough for a few hours rest and recharge. The bus station/stop is next door at the gas station. When I called the border for info about parking, they told me it would not be a good idea to leave the car there overnight, though online blogs have alluded to it being okay with the approval of management. Spin the wheel, and take a chance. But dont expect luxury. read more

Rooms had black mold in the shower, guy at front desk was creepy as hell, we checked in late and the guy tells my son that he can go swimming, doesn't even ask us parents if it is okay. We get to the room and it smelled strange. Plus the beds were rock hard. Will never stay again. The second night of our trip we went to Massena to Econo Lodge. it was 1000 times better. read more

Awful place! Dirty and disgusting. The key entry system wasn't working so the front clerk gave me the universal key to access my room and told me to leave the door open and return the key. Unreal and unsafe! No glasses/cups in the room. read more

This place is TERRIBLE! My boyfriend worked for Wyndham and from everything he said, it sounded like because they bought Super 8 out, it would be nicer than before. NOPE, I was WRONG!! I guess what they say is true, you get what you pay for. Still, this place needs some major upgrades, needs to lose the cheepo Indians who run this joint , bring in new management and clean up the joint! Never again! When I come home to visit Plattsburgh, I'll be staying at comfort inn or quality inn and suites uptown! read more

My friend stayed here last night 12/10, checked in, no issues. A few hours into her night, she got a call from the service desk to the phone in her room, asking if everything was good in her room. Her thinking they were just being nice, make sure everything was to her liking, she didn't think much of it. Until she got 2 more calls, for the same thing, so she thought something was wrong with her card. At 3 AM SHE GOT ANOTHER CALL from the customer service desk asking if he could pay for her room and he would bring cash to her right now. She was freaked out and declined, to which the customer service rep said he was lonely, as if she wasn't freaked out enough, that was the final straw. She felt wildly uncomfortable and left at 3AM. She is waiting to get her money back, but apparently has to go through corporate. She also filed a police report due to the nature of this occurrence and the possibility that whoever that person was doing it that works there, might do it to someone else and becoming an even worse situation. There needs to be a negative 5 star assessment available here! They literally stole from me. I booked on Priceline and paid via Apple Pay. They then could not process my card for a deposit and sent me away. I literally got my bank on the phone and she told him they were not declining the card and that his process wasn't going through and that if it had there was plenty of room on the card. All 3 cards (different banks) wouldn't go through yet I had a zero balance on all 3. So after showing up with a paid reservation the hotel manager sent me away at midnight and refused to give my money back. Priceline has sent them numerous emails and they have not responded. Basically they stole $200 from me. Oh and I finally found another hotel in a state I don't live in at midnight and wow my credit card went through! Thieves! read more

do NOT stay here!! Please save yourself the trouble - I was supposed to be there 3 nights, only stayed one. I was in bed and another customer (a man) walked in my room because the hotel gave the key to my room to another person! I am a single female and someone walking into your 'bedroom' when you are IN bed? Frightening! Then they had people (very loud) right outside my window smoking. Cable didn't work, room only acceptable for cleanliness. Best part? I am not done yet... the next morning i got up at 4 am, with 2 hours sleep. Went to photograph sunrise... came back by 6 am. Guess what? I cannot get into my room now, they locked me out (i guess when they gave the other person a key to my room). Well they were not attending the desk, and although they posted a number to call to get service, nobody answered it. I had to wait until 7 am, a full hour, to get into my room. I had a LONG hike planned, that didn't happen. So when the person showed up, i was agitated. My voice definitely had gone up some, but i wasn't 'yelling'. Yet the desk woman, instead of saying, "Gee, i am sorry we put your safety at risk AND then removed access to your room", instead said, "I don't appreciate you 'yelling' at me". It went downhill from there, she told me she was 'checking me out of the room for the next two nights and that i needed to leave'. I still had to get my stuff, but then i left as by then, i had no desire to stay there any longer (not to mention she kicked me out!). I called back to VERIFY she credited the two nights. She (lied) and said yes. Guess what? Besides the horrible customer service on top of all that, she charged me all three nights, i just had to dispute the charges. Stayed here for two nights for my nephews graduation. Free breakfast was cereal, toast or waffles that you put in toaster. Coffee and orange juice as well as tea and hot cocoa. Yogurt and apples, mini muffins and cinnamon buns. There were some stains on bed spreads but everything else seem cleaned. The mini Fridge was a little broken but it was doing it's job. It also had a microwave and a little coffee maker that we didn't use. Bathroom was good. Pool was a little cold when foot was placed in it. The next day we had gotten fresh towels, we didn't ask for but it was nice. Unless my niece comes to Suny Plattsburgh i would come back for her graduation. read more

The hotel has health issues. There's gapping holes in the shower, the shower heads have mold and the refrigerator has rust on crusted ice, mold and I wouldn't put anything in there. We requested a handicap room and when we got there they said it would be $20. More an evening which is illegal. They will be reported to health department. Disgusting stay read more

On site staff very good; clean and conveniently located for flying out of Plattsburgh airport. Good value for the stay itself. Just be wary of the owner/general manager ... There was an issue with my credit card being accidentally double charged by the hotel staff on site (ie. I did not pre-pay through booking.com) which should have been remedied simply by the staff reversing the 2nd charge. Unfortunately the owner/general manager chose to make an ordeal of it. He has not empowered his on-site staff to reverse credit card charges. He is not present or available at the property. He hides behind his staff and two e-mail address (reservations and hoteladminin@super8plattsburgh.com). He chooses not to provide a telephone number where he can be reached directly (you can call and speak with his front line staff), nor does he contact the customer by telephone when provided a number and requested to. He is slow to respond to e-mails, requiring multiple followups. He causes his staff to incur much stress and inconvenience by putting them on the front line while not empowering them. He invented an excuse saying the 2nd charge was for a reservation a week later; there was no such reservation and no evidence of such a reservation (there was of course the booking.com confirmation for the one night I did reserve). After multiple messages from myself, the owner finally relented and did the right thing by refunding the 2nd charge on my card. I cannot say for certain what this owner/general manager might have done had I not put the time/effort into multiple calls/e-mails; but I do conclude there is a high probability that he would simply have pocketed my money. read more

The hotel is conveniently located off of exit 39 in Plattsburgh. You are also located behind a Stewarts Shop and Dunkin Donuts. We stayed for the Family Weekend at SUNY Plattsburgh. This hotel was priced right and just 10 minutes from the college and ALL the shops and restaurants. The hotel is under construction meaning new owners and they are fixing and updating. Stayed in 210. Some people complained of heavy smoke smell in the hallways and rooms but this was not the case for us. Everything was clean and fresh smelling. We had some issues with the swing bar/lock on the door...it was broken and in order to get the deadbolt to fit you had to push on the door. The room had a fridge and a microwave. The bed was very low to the ground but comfy. The shower was great but we encountered stained towels but they were replaced the next day. The hotel also has a nice indoor pool but we did not use it. Breakfast was available...toaster waffles, (not make your own as shown in the pics online and I was kinda disappointed) cinnamon buns, cereal, juice, coffee, milk. The staff was friendly and accommodating and I would stay here again for the price and location. read more

We drove from Long Island, six hours in the car. 20 miles from the hotel, I looked at my email, and noticed I had a cancellation email from the hotel. I called right away and they told me, my credit card on file with Wyndham was denied, so they cancelled my reservation, and had no other rooms. The guy working the front desk told us to come in and he would fix it. He called ten minutes later saying he upgraded me and we got the last room. We get there a few minutes later and check in. The print out of the check in said 179.99 plus tax and estimated charges $359.99. I had a reservation for one night and was supposed to be charged $139.99. I argued with him and the general manager, and they finally honored the original price. After all that, they have the nerve to put a charge thru at $459.89. I go back to the front desk after checking my debit card account, and he tells me he doesn't know who did that, and he is not authorized to to fix the charges. I have to wait til the $301 to come off after the charge of the one night goes thru. So they tied up over $300 from my bank account and caused me to bounce a check. The ridiculousness of this hotel, is beyond the realm of imagination. I wouldn't stay here ever again. read more

My boyfriend reserved a room to surprise my for a week end away the hotel is under construction witch didn't bother us we were checking in the woman Martha who the card said is operation manager was bad mouthing the new owner she said he should go back to what ever country he came from he is ruining her business we went to our room witch really needed up dating that didn't bother us we started looking around the room bathroom dirty the sheets didn't look like they had been changed from the last guest I called front desk the same woman who checked us in pretty much called me a lier her housekeepers are the best they wouldn't leave a room like that she did send a girl to change the sheets she said that the bathroom was clean even though the tub had black foot prints in it and clearly the toilet hadn't been cleaned all I have to say is wait till renovations are done and hopefully they will also get new housekeepers and management read more
