If you're looking for someone who listens, is talented with color, and genuinely cares about the results, Diane is the one to go to. Diane did an amazing job on my balayage--the color came out exactly how I wanted it. I've been going to Diane for about two years now, and she consistently does incredible work. I recently moved an hour and a half away, but I'll still gladly make the drive because she truly takes care of her clients and makes sure you leave completely happy with your hair. Highly recommend!
I went to sunshine salon for the first time looking for a cut and balayage and Diane did a fantastic job. She was super friendly and continued to check in with me while I was there to make sure I was ok and as a huge plus she gives a great scalp massage too. My color is perfect, exactly what I was looking for. I will definitely be back when I need anything done for my hair.

The first picture is my before from my last hair color with Diane. I've been following her advice with how often I get a trim, how to care for my hair, and now I went a much lighter blonde for the summer and she was able to capture exactly what I was looking for. I came straight from work and was still in uniform and Diane even provided me something to change in to. She has great customer service. Diane is not afraid to tell you "no". She will tell you that it will not look good and she will not move forward if she thinks it will damage your hair. She genuinely cares for her clients long term hair health.
Diane has been doing my hair for 5 years and she is the only person I trust with my hair! She consistently does an amazing job every single time. My go-to salon whenever I need to cut my hair. The ladies here are so kind and knowledgeable. Diane did my hair this time and it was my first time ever changing my hair color. She made me feel comfortable and helped to provide recommendations on my hair color after I told her what I wanted. I wanted something subtle but also enough color for others to notice that I did dye my hair. Super happy with the outcome as Diane also knew I have two kids and needed something low maintenance. **10/10 Service All Around** **Fair Pricing:** I paid $330 for a full balayage, with lower prices available for root touch-ups and maintenance. I always go to Dianne for my balayage. From my very first appointment, she went above and beyond to help save my hair. I had made the mistake of going to someone else (another salon) who, despite being experienced, damaged my hair to the point where I had to box-dye it black. When I came to Dianne, she carefully explained what she could do to keep my hair healthy while still working toward the color I wanted. Safe to say--she saved my hair and delivered exactly the look I was hoping for. She did an incredible job during that first visit, and as a long-time client, I can confidently say her work continues to be amazing. On my most recent visit, she touched up my grown-out roots, and once again, I left completely satisfied. I highly recommend this salon to anyone, whether you're getting a simple cut or a full color transformation. All the ladies here are kind, professional, and always make me feel welcome.

I went in to get a quick trim and left disappointed. The stylist was the one with the chair at the back of the row. I think her sign said Betty? I showed her a photo with someone with just a bit of layers on the bottom and she cut off a chunk way too short! It looks like she cut one layer of my hair short and left other parts long. read more

I've been getting my hair done at Sunshine Salon since 2017 and I refuse to go anywhere else! For reference, I have ridiculously thick, long jet black hair and not a lot of hair stylists know how to cut Asian hair like mine. Luckily Diane & Christine are experts and can take my hair to ash blonde in just one session without any damage. I usually ask for an ash blonde balayage, but since it's been almost years since I've gotten my hair done, we had to start from scratch-- uncolored black hair. It was easy calling and making an appointment and Diane was easy to communicate with and asking for a specific hair color. They follow COVID protocols-- they take your temperature, everyone inside the salon wears masks, and the chairs are all six feet apart. I keep a small bubble and I felt completely safe getting my hair done here. Diane did a great job and was easy to talk to. I absolutely love this place and would never dream of going anywhere else. I'm so happy I returned. Despite the appointment mixup, they were still able to see me. Which I thought was sweet of them. I have very long and thick hair, which can make my hair a very tedious job. I asked for a retouch of my ash blonde balayage and a vshape haircut with layers. Christine listened to my needs and did an amazing job balancing me and another customer. I took my niece and nephew here for a haircut. They had decent reviews and some folks highlighted their positive experience regarding a kids haircut, so here I am! My nephew needed a full on haircut whereas my niece just needed a trim. Both stylists did a fine job and they were gentle and calm throughout the entire process. My nephew got a bit rowdy and began to cry but the stylist kept cool and had me step in. He got through it just fine and no longer has a helmet head. My original rating would have been 4 stars given that the service was, in fact, decent. But because of the miscommunication I experienced, I'm knocking it down one more star. When I called to make an appointment, I asked about pricing. I was told that kids haircuts start at $25. I asked if it would be the same price for a trim, especially since my niece's hair is super thin and short. She said it would depend, in that case. So... I go to the salon and I meet with the person who I spoke with over the phone. She handles my nephews hair while another stylist takes on my niece. When it's time to pay, the stylist tells me that it'll be $20 for each kid. Not exactly what I was expecting, but it's fine. When I get to the counter, the woman sitting behind the desk charges me $50 and says that the kids are $25/each. I let her know what the stylist told me and it became this awkward situation. The front desk explained why it was $50 and I reiterated that the stylist who cut my hair told me something different. I ended up paying $40 (not including tip) at the end of the day but situations like this leave a bad taste in your mouth, ya know?! read more

I held off on writing this review for almost a month. I was very excited going into Sunshine Salon because there are plenty of amazing results pictured on the reviews. But, ultimately I am unhappy with how my hair came out. I wish I had communicated with Diane a bit better before going through the process. So, I do take part responsibility in the outcome of my hair. Diane's personality is very sweet and pleasant. I showed her the photo (attached) that I wanted her to replicate. The style I wanted was ombre with caramel blonde, along with a hair cut. The outcome was ombre with platinum blonde, and a trim. I was surprised at how light my hair came out, and I think Diane was too. I understand that everyone's hair will take to the bleaching process differently, and will have variable results. However, my hair is VERY blonde now. Diane told me that if I didn't like my hair I could come back, and I appreciated that she extended that offer. Although I know that offer is still a viable option I cannot trust that going back will result in a better turn out since the original $260 (plus $40 tip = $300) service did not meet my expectation. Furthermore, the bleaching process in general is very damaging, so I rather preserve the current integrity of my hair and just try to rock my hair the way it looks now. I have received compliments on my hair, so without knowing the story above my hair looks okay. There are a couple areas on the side and one on the back that does not have the ombre, gradient effect and instead looks like a harsh jump from brown to blonde (photo included). I'm sorry, Diane. You do amazing work, but I was hoping with your skills you would have better determined the bleaching process for my hair type and the result I wanted to achieve. read more

Due to the pandemic, the prices of their services have increased for operational reasons but I have no complaints since I understand the position they're in. I'm really disappointed in how my hair turned out and wished I had gotten one of the people that people that were highly recommended on the other reviews. :( It started with me calling in for an appointment for first thing in the morning on a Thursday (as I have long and thick hair, so I knew it was gonna take a while) and they booked me in. They didn't say with who but I just went through with it. I was excited as it was a 2 day notice and was able to get in. I had a guy to assist me with my hair and at first it was a slight rough start. I knew I wanted lightened hair as it's the summer but wasn't too sure how light I could go. I asked for his opinion and we kind of went through some swatches. I did ask to have blonde but I wanted the least amount of damage to my hair as I already have my hair colored and don't want to over bleach my hair and have it stringy. The last thing I wanted was blonde hair (and I've been platinum before) and it's not what I wanted anymore. Damaged hair is no fun. We go through the process and the bleach is so strong that it hurt my eyes so it remained shut for a while. The bleach was also processed for a while so I actually got worried for a bit. Later when the blow dryer on my head was done, he took me to the hair washing station and I was there for a good while. There was no real communication and I was just waiting for my hair to get washed. After the washing, he told me to sit on the chair (where to get my hair cut). This is when I knew I messed up in coming here - when he unwrapped the towel, MY HAIR WAS SO STRINGY AND DEAD. I literally almost cried as I tried so hard to keep my hair healthy and long. It was so terribly tangled and so light that my hair was at the point of no return. He took a while to brush through my hair and I COULD HEAR MY HAIR BREAKING OFF. I was literally going to cry. He tried to justify it saying it was ok and the ash color suits me. I did not care about that as my hair was literally breaking off in front of me! I was really sad and I probably wore it on my face but I toughed it out. I ended up just letting him style my hair as the damage was done and there were so many split ends. He styles my hair with extra hit tools, just further adding damage to my hair. It was nonstop damage. And it doesn't stop there. I already hated the fact that my hair was so terribly damaged but I was still going to pay. He then tells me that he can only accept cash and no other payment. I remember the other reviews saying that debit cards were ok so I was confused. AT NO POINT DID THEY TELL ME IT WAS A CASH ONLY SPOT. If they had let me know on the phone while making the appointment, I would have been better prepared. I was going back and forth with him saying I was not aware and that I have a debit card. He was not sorry and kept pointing at a spot to get money from an ATM and I was honestly shocked. Later on, he ended up accepting my card and so all that HASSLE WAS FOR NOTHING. This is probably the worst experience for me personally. Everyone may have great results, but unfortunately I did not. :( Tl;dr - if you want to get great hair, go to one of the ladies that yelp reviews recommend. The guy didn't care about my hair being so utterly damaged and tried to play it off, so save your hair and money. Bring cash to be safe. read more

Diane did my hair today and I love it! I requested a oval cut and a balayage. Even though the results weren't like the picture I showed her, I absolutely love what Diane was able to do with my hair. The only thing is that it was expensive, I was quoted one amount online($250-$275) and quoted more in person($325). Since my hair was extremely long and thick, I see why the price was more. I will definitely be going back for a trim and treatment. read more

Service requested was delivered with excellence! Christine was very talented in color specialty and gave me great advice on hair care. Good pricing up front and she was able to follow the sample photo of the color balayage i had on my phone. The only thing i can suggest is maybe they can offer some water to drink because of the length of time for the salon service, but overall it was a great experience! read more

I'm not one to do much to my hair and if I do dye it, I use a box... I know I know don't judge me lol.... But I decided, with my birthday around the corner it was time to splurge on myself. I do not regret it one bit! My hair needed this salon. I had the best person ever, super friendly and really cared for my hair (maybe more than me). She saved my hair! Every body was friendly. First off I wanted to give a HUGE thanks to Christine. She made my hair miracles come true. It's hard to find someone that can actually do Asian hair well and not make it orange and damage it. I've had terrible experiences where my hair is orange and fried. I have finally found someone I truly trust my hair with. I showed her what I wanted and she did it in one visit! I came in yesterday hoping for a Caramel balayage showed my hair stylist some pictures my hair didn't come out like the pictures at all she didn't even bleach my hair since my hair is virgin she said the color would take I wouldn't even have minded if she had bleached my hair to get better results my hair is soo subtle I could barely tell I was shocked when she said it would be 330 and I gave her a tip because I felt bad but now I feel cheated because you can hardly tell I did anything to my hair no one at home noticed lol whats the point of getting your hair done if you can't even tell ? read more

Diane did such an amazing job on my hair today! She was very honest and communicative about what type of service (i.e. ombré, balayage, etc) and color would be best to go for that would match the inspo I brought in, while keeping in mind that maintaining my hair's health was the #1 priority. Attached is a before picture of my freshly virgin hair (last dye was 4 years ago & finally cut off the ends) and the after picture of what we achieved in just 1 session! The color is pretty identical to the inspo color with Diane's Ash Blonde Balayage Ombré service and we chose not to go too high up to leave my roots natural for an easily maintainable melt. Without tip, the service (color + cut) costed $355 which is such a steal when looking for a stylist that can safely take virgin hair to light like this! My grandma came with me to get a perm from Tien and she also gave great service. read more

I've been going to this salon for over a year to get my hair colored by Diane. The prices are great for the quality of service provided by Diane. I wanted the color without a lot of maintenance visits to the salon and she didn't disappoint on the delivery. I have not gotten my hair done since May 2019. It is now October 2019. it looks just as fresh even when my roots grow out. I've also been asked if I recently got my hair done even though it's been so long. For my maintenance at home, I use to purple shampoo/conditioners and purple/regular hair masks to maintain the color. I absolutely love coming here. I just moved to Washington and I've planned my trips back to LA to get a hair appointment with Diane. I highly recommend this place to all my friends. read more

I was looking around for a colorist... last year I went to Supercuts which was a huge mistake. And I ended up coloring my hair back to black because I hated it. And now my hair is brown and red from all the discoloration. I decided to come here to see if they can fix my hair! And they did!! Diane fixed me up and took good care of me. I showed her a picture of what I wanted and she explained that because of the color in my hair some parts would be hard but she'd try her best. And I said okay :) she even offered to give me a free trim to fix my last haircut!!! Took about two hours but it turned out great! read more

My sister recommended Christine and this salon to me last year. Due to the pandemic I had to wait until salons reopened and until I felt it was safe. Christine is the best! I was able to text her pictures of my hair and what I wanted accomplished. She nailed it. Salon is very clean and also provide nail and wax services. She also gave me tips on how to keep moisture on my hair after washing it. Products used smelled great and felt lightweight on my hair. They follow all protocol and make sure everyone is always six feet away. I love this place and would recommend to anyone. I would suggest to make an appointment ahead of time. I've waited for so long to go back to this salon due to covid-19 until today. Everytime I visited this place the staff are all welcoming. They're like a family to me. I love how Diane did my hair every single time as always she uses her ability, skills and I called it Magic hands on my hair. She does an amazing job. I've been coming to Sunshine Salon for 2 years now and they never disappoint!! I've gotten many balayages done here by Christine & Tien. They're both honest and will tell you if the hair color you want can be achieved in one session. Their balayages start at $165 but charge more for thick + lengthy hair. Their prices are very reasonable though!! I have pretty long hair so I paid $195. Make sure to bring a reference pic of the hair you want!! read more

I went in for a balayage in March. To be fair I had black box dye in my hair, but it had been done over a year ago. I was quoted $655 because I have long thick hair. I trusted her and said ok. She literally left the bleach in my hair for about 20 minutes and rinsed it out. About 3 weeks later, my hair was so red/orange and I called her and said I think I need a toner. She asked for another $255 just for toner. Needless to say I was super unhappy and I went to a different stylist who told me toner wouldn't even fix the problem. My hair needed to be re-highlited because the color wasn't lifted enough. So I let her work her magic and I can honestly say I wasted my money at sunshine salon. read more
