I've been a patron of Kevin and Lily for over 20 years now and they always get my hair perfect. Kevin owned Salon Image on Avalon but sold his business during the pandemic and mainly works here at Salon 310. In the past I've done highlights, balayage, and overall color and they always pay special attention to all the details. I came in with hopes of blending my grey hair. After consulting with Kevin and Lily, they gave me an honest breakdown how long it would take, the maintenance, and expected cost based on my hair type, length, and texture. I have black medium length hair, it's thick coarse and semi wavy. After an hour of foiling and applying hair lightener, and an hour of processing, my hair turned out great. I felt so relaxed and loved the smell of the shampoo and conditioners they used on my hair while rinsing out the product. My grey blended hair dreams came true. I've had many Brazilian blowouts before, and I've even had one done by Lily previously with fine results -- so I knew exactly what to expect going into this appointment. This time, Lily told me the Brazilian blowout would last three months, eliminate frizz, and smooth my hair. I was very clear that I did not expect my hair to be straight -- Brazilian blowouts don't straighten hair, they smooth it. During the service, several things felt off. The chemical she applied did not smell like a Brazilian blowout at all. When I asked about it, she claimed they had a "new formula" that doesn't smell anymore. That raised a red flag. Then, after applying the product, she washed my hair out, which is not how Brazilian blowouts are typically done. She then straightened my hair and told me not to wash it for three days. I followed all instructions exactly. After washing my hair three days later, my hair looked exactly the same as before the service -- no smoothing, no frizz reduction, no change whatsoever. Based on my experience, I believe the wrong product was used, or the service provided was not a Brazilian blowout at all. When I messaged Lily about the results, she dismissed the issue by saying she told me it wouldn't straighten my hair -- completely missing the point. Brazilian blowouts are not supposed to straighten hair; they are supposed to smooth it. This service did neither. The professionalism of the salon was also concerning. During my appointment, her husband was cutting his toenails in the salon, which was extremely inappropriate. The salon was completely empty during the holidays, which in hindsight should have been a warning sign. I paid for a service that did absolutely nothing, and I feel misled about what product was actually used. I have reported this charge to my credit card company and will also be reporting this business to the appropriate beauty licensing bureau. I would not return and do not recommend this salon.There are negative reviews about her chemical treatments on yelp which I should have considered as well. read more

I went here to get my long hair cut into a blunt bob and absolutely loved my service! I decided to get it cut on a whim and they were able to take me just as a walk in at the end of the night. I didn't have an appointment ... I was just in that nook of the area and thought I would see if they do walk-ins... and they do! There were two workers at the time and both were busy, but the one I was speaking with (Tiffany) said give her about thirty minutes and I would be the next one. I haven't been to a salon in such a long time so, it truly was a nice treat. Plus, I was in dire need of a root touch up and a good, long overdue cut. My mom referred me to Lily since I was in need of a toner and the stylist I have been seeing was booked up. Before scheduling, my mom requested a quote and Lily said $65 and up to $75 and $35&up for hair cut. I showed Lily what my hair looked like when I had first gotten my balayage and she said it wouldn't be exactly like the picture but I had told her that it was my hair, not a picture off of Pinterest. And yes, I understand it's not going to be exactly the same but at least something close to it... after the toner treatment, you can't even tell that I got a balayage done, my hair came out looking like my virgin hair. I know it will wash out and get lighter but I'm just sad that you can't even see the balayage/highlights. When Lily charged me, she said $85 toner + $45 for haircut ($35 + $10 extra to blow dry) I reminded her the quote she gave my mom (up to $75) but she said she can't tell over text because she didn't see my hair and the darker the toner the more the cost, and that's fine, but she should have said up to $85... also my hair is REALLY dark, darker than I requested because she said caramel color before putting toner in my hair. She agreed to do $75 for me this time, but she said next time it would be $85 Lily and Tiffany were really nice. This place is pretty good! I frantically made an appointment at this place because my normal hair dresser had cancelled on me, and before I found this place, I was freaking out because I know almost all hair salons are fully booked on weekends. Luckily, Lily was able to take me on last minute! I will admit: I was a little worried when I first found this place because of some of the one star reviews and lack of hair color diversity in their pictures. I was scared that because they had taken me on last minute, I would receive shoddy service and be ignored for long periods of time. However, Lily was a very efficient worker! When I first came in, I told her what I wanted to do with my hair with picture examples. She was very honest and let me know what was and was not possible, which I appreciated very much. She ended up doing something similar with my hair but with overall a longer lasting color choice (I had wanted a large array of colors, originally, and lily let me know that some of them were bad choices lol). She did a wonderful job, and I was very happy with the result! I wish I had asked for the before and after photos they took of me, because they also take great hair pics. Anyway, a crappy at home photo of my hair is attached. No major complaints for this place, but the only reason why I gave it a 4 out of 5 is because this place is a bit pricey. My normal hair dresser would've charged me $250, but they charged me $350 for a full color and cut. I know this is pretty standard salon price for my length and thickness of hair; I just know though that are cheaper options. But anyways, please try this place out! I've tried two salons in the past and was extremely disappointed both times. I haven't been to a salon in almost two years but...needs to get my hair done for a special event. My second time coming here, and my second time getting my cut from Cindy. So prior to Cindy, I used to get my haircut at Salon Image on Avalon and 220nd--right by where I live. However, the lady I got my hair cut from no longer works there. SAD. A year ago, I went to Salon IIIX, and got my hair cut from Cindy--this was the first time. Fast forward a year later, and I'm greeted by Cindy again. She didn't recognize me, but I recognized her and told her so. She is so kind and friendly. Anyway, my decision to get a haircut was VERY spontaneous. My friend told me she's getting a hair cut, so it made me want to get a hair cut too, so I literally just walked in and sat down. I decided to get bangs, so I was a little nervous because I didn't know if I could pull it off. Cindy reassured me that she would be very mindful of the kind of cut I wanted. She mentioned that she's very particular about bangs as well so that she'd do her best to do it right. I told her that I also wanted to keep my length long. She did everything BEAUTIFULLY. I still have long hair, but all the nasty, dry, dead feelings at the tips are mostly gone. I still have some dyed hair from a couple years ago, but for the most part, it feels much smoother. The bangs also came out well. I wanted thicker bangs, but since I was scared, she gave me softer bangs so I could get a feel of what I'd look like and if I'd want to go with thicker bangs in the (near) future. Cindy respects what you want and how you want your hair done. If you want to keep your hair long, she'll keep it long. That means a lot to me because I have SO many experiences in the past where I tell them that I want to keep my length, and they tell me A-OKAY, but they end up cutting 2 inches. -.- Cindy doesn't do that. I have never written a negative review, but I am compelled to write this one. After all the positives reviews on yelp I called Lilly. I was able to get a same day appointment which was a huge plus. I am a blonde Asian and having previously dyed my hair many times, black, it took a very long time to become blonde. I was very specific about one thing during initial consult with Lily-- I did not want my color to be any darker than it currently was - other than that, Lily had creative Card Blanc. I trusted her after all... Fast forward to base dye process - I mentioned to Lily that I thought color was way too dark, she replied that it just appeared so, but much lighter in reality. I figured she knew what she was doing and let it be. Fast forward to end - me almost brunette. I was devastated! I immediately brought it to Lilly's attention. When which, she tried to convince me that it wasn't dark-- Amazing, really amazing, I know what color my hair is? I got her to wash out dark toner which made it a little lighter, but still very dark. My main point of contention is that I was clear what I wanted and the result that Lily gave me was not it! Lily spent a lot of time trying to convince me that: 1) my hair was not any darker. 2) she needed to go darker to make my color consistent throughout. Well - Which is it Lily??? It certainly can't be both? And, if it is the 2nd, and deliberate, she should have mentioned it to me beforehand so I could make the final decision. I really wanted to 'love' my hair. I gave Lily every opportunity to make me love it. She didn't take it. After being in her chair for 5 hours, I sadly left DISSATISFIED. I paid her exactly what she asked and EVEN TIPPED to he fair -- I held up my end of the bargain. LILY DID NOT.. RESPONSE TO LILY: Nice try Lily.....You are still trying to convince me that m the color is not darker..... Regardless of the lighting in my pictures, the simple truth is that my hair is DARKER!!! Do NOT come here!!!! Waste of money. They quoted me $290 when I arrived for Balayage, Opalex treatment and a haircut. They advised it would be 3-4 hours. 3.5 hours in they were not done with the Balayage and I advised I would not have time for a haircut as it would put me over the time frame and I had another appt to get to. Strike ONE The color was nice but when I went to check out, they charged me $285. I was perplexed as I did not get a haircut. They gave me a BS line that the haircut was essentially free. What the hell????? I advised that the justification did NOT make sense. So I paid but did not tip as they charged me an additional 2% to use my card. Strike TWO Within 3 days my hair began to turn ORANGE. Got me out here looking like Donald Trump in these streets. I sent the owner a message and pictures. They asked me to come back in and they would fix it. GREAT! My opinion began to change as they were going to do the right thing. I show up to my "fix it" appointment and they proceed to tell me it would cost $50 to fix! Whaaaaattt theee f@$$$$!!!k!! Are you kidding me???? Their justification was that it was to pay for the supplies since Red is expensive and I have a lot of hair GTFOH Strike THREE So not only was the work and response to a failed result unprofessional; they had the audacity to try and say "that's how red is." Before I get into how they saved me 100x's over I should explain how. Earlier this week I had gotten by hair bleached at a different salon. I wanted a beige blonde. I mentioned that I was interested in platinum but not sure I wanted to go that route. He told me he'd get it done. I was really nervous because I have never dyed or bleached my hair. After two sessions and a hair cut he told me he couldn't lift any more color and I needed to go to another salon. He explained that he didn't have the right materials. I left with orange wet hair. I found this gem. The response for booking an appointment was immediate. She understood my situation. The experience is/ has been great overall. She examined my hair understood how far she could take it and do the least amount of damage (my hair was really dry and she didn't want to fry it). She told me the amount I'd pay and discussed the process. I felt like I was in good hands. She and Tiffany worked on my hair throughout the day. They reassured me and were attentive. After we were done she told me about ways to combat my frizzy hair and keep my hair healthy. I had hid orange hair at work from embarrassment. Now I can let my hair down and feel confident. PLEASE SAVE YOUR HAIR AND MONEY AND GO ELSEWHERE! Zero stars if it were possible. So..... first time I came here loved the experience, they saved me from my hot roots, loved the hair color (light brown/ blonde highlights), Cindy said I can go lighter to the top next time (it was dark brown closer to the top).... Next time (around 6 months later) I came for a touch up but Cindy said my hair only grew a little bit and it's not safe to bleach and lighten the roots. I also wanted to because one side was lighter than the other, and the top was dark brown. So she recommended a toner and the Olaplex treatment only, and for next time to do the bleach/ lighten my roots treatment. Finally 3 months passed by, roots grew out about maybe 2 inches, so I contacted Lily (as always through yelp) and came up with a date I could come in for my 2nd touch up, also hoping to finally lighten my roots. I asked how much will it cost as proven in the pics, and she stated UP TO $195, told her I wanted to have a budget for it. Came in, spoke with Cindy before we started, and she quoted me $285. I was kind of confused because of Lily's max price, but went with it because that was the only day I could come in and figured at least I'd finally have the color that I wanted! She agreed my roots would become the same color as the rest of my hair (light brown/ blonde highlights) Anyways, I had to work that night, but as I stated it was the only day I had to come in, so anyways.... OUTCOME?! -Dark brown / almost looks black roots, and a weird darker than before full brown color on the rest of my hair omg (as shown in pics) . Later I contacted Lily regarding this and the price, and she complained why didn't I tell her that the day of and to come in and talk to her and Cindy and Cindy would fix my hair and it will all be okay and I probably got another treatment for that to be the price (which I didn't).... I finally get a day I can come in and contact Lily, and she responds with this whole mess that she has complete trust in Cindy's judgment, that Cindy said my hair grew out a lot (which was a straight lie but even if it did her max price was $195) and she stated I couldn't get that color with a touch up AND if I wanted it I would have to pay a whole new full service price!!!!!! Unbelievable and horrible customer service! You would think the least you could do is honor your quoted price or give me the color we agreed upon. NEVER RETURNING AND HOPE I SAVED SOMEONE ELSE from experiencing this. Also side note: I have been booking with Lily (the owner) through yelp since my initial visit, Cindy is the one who has done my hair since the first time. This last visit apparently they double booked and Cindy turned down the other girl since I showed her I already confirmed my app on yelp for 11. The girl who was turned down wrote a yelp review and so Lily came out fussing at Cindy in their language regarding the whole ordeal saying I had an 11am appointment with Lily, not Cindy who the woman had spoken to! Ummm she's never done my hair! She seriously should be mad at herself for not communicating with Cindy, but hey, just my opinion. WOAHHHH OK. This salon and this owner is something else. Yelp advertises that this place opens at 11. I go there and its closed. ok maybe a few minutes. This is my second time going here and still love their service! I came it to get a "blonde balayage" that was really really light. I initially wanted to try a different salon, but they were open on Sundays! Not many salon's are open on Sundays for Walk-in appts. Tiffany and Vicky were really sweet and gave me a lot of advice and suggestions on what type of hair was more suitable for me and my lifestyle. I told them I am very low maintenance with my hair (meaning I blow dry and/or straighten and curl on occassions). I wanted a hairstyle that is different, stylish/trendy, and color that is appropriate in my workplace. They showed me this hairstyle and color that I also liked and my hair turned out to look EXACTLY like how it was on the picture. I couldn't be any more happier. My hair looks so good straight, curled and healthy. They also gave me a lot of tips about how to take care of it. I am definitely going to be a loyal customer for this salon. On Sunday, September 1st I saw Lily Ngo for a cut and color. When I walked into Salon IIIX I had beautiful long thick hair which was all one length, a few inches shy of hip length. I purposely grew it out this way so that each strand would be protected by those surrounding it. After my color which was fantastic, I asked Lily if there was any damage that needed to be cut off. I only wanted a light dusting to take off a minimal amount at the ends if need be. My hair was healthy, it did not need anything more than a dusting. What I thought would be a standard trim turned into a V shaped haircut with many layers. I could have lived with that even though it is the farthest thing from what I wanted, it took me seven years to get my hair to the length that it was, free of all pre-existing layers. At one point I saw Lily whip out the thinning shears and take a chunk out of my hair. Panic set in. I asked her if she was thinning my hair, her response, "no, just fixing the shape." This was not the truth. I walked out of the salon with half, literally half, of the bulk of my hair gone. After my hair began growing out, I could see that it was thinned everywhere. Underneath, at the roots, and on the external layer from root to tip. I was absolutely devastated. I did not in any way ask for my hair to be thinned out. I loved my beautiful, long, thick hair. Lily, you took something away from me that took me years to achieve, how dare you do such a thing without my consent. This has caused me significant anguish. It will take me years to grow out my hair to what it once was as now 50% of it is less than 1-2 inches long where it has been thinned out at the scalp. I'm no longer the happy, confident person I was before I saw you. I can no longer wear my hair down because I'm terrified of creating damage up and down the length of my hair by using heat tools on the short thinned out pieces. My hope is that you read this and never do something like this to another client. Completely altering my hair was not your decision to make. Update - 3.6.2020 After suffering through months of destroyed, limp, lank hair that looked nothing like my hair before Lily butchered it, I was forced to cut it into a pixie as it was my only option. I have attached a picture of my hair before Lily touched it, after I had it cut short above chin length to show the extent of the damage, and finally the pixie with the only salvageable hair being the regrowth from September. What I find interesting is that the hair around my face was not razored, most likely because Lily did not want me to see what she was doing so I was able to keep the front slightly longer than the back. I am 35 and single, what Lily has done to me greatly impacts my life. At a time when it was crucial that I look my best, I now have to endure at least a year of having my hair extremely short. I hope in posting this review that I can spare anyone the trauma of what I have gone through at Lily's hands. I never in my life thought I would have a pixie cut and never wanted one. I hope this review helps anyone previously unaware of Lily's dishonest practices. Being a hair stylist does not give free reign to do whatever you please to a client's hair, especially if it damages it to the point of having to cut ALL of it off. read more

I went as a walk-in and was assisted immediately. I wish I asked for the hair stylists name because she was incredible. She washed my hair and even gave a small head massage which was so nice. And before she started cutting away at my hair, she asked what style I wanted. And not only that, before she even began cutting my hair, she would show me the length she would cut and ask for approval. And she did this throughout the hair cut! So so amazing! Came in to fix my bleached/redyed/red-brown-yellow aka effed up hair. Lily was very accommodating. She seemed very knowledgeable and talked to me about my options to cover the color. I wanted to go back to my natural color and it came out perfect. I don't really like when salons don't post up prices on their Yelp so I'll just say that one color dye was estimated to be $65-95, balayage starts at $295+, opalex is $35. So sadddddd just walked out with a horrible haircut. First the fiancee cut it. Very uneven. I specifically asked not to make it round and he just kept making it rounder. So then lily came to fix it and cut more of my hair. Now its super short and she said you can grow it out... .uh yeah...I don't think I have a choice. And then still charges me for styling that i didn't ask. And gives me a $5 discount.................but then she has to charge $2 for credit card fees...I had liked lily for my son hair cut. But she tried to fix her man's mistake and just digged her own hole. Whats sad is when people don't know how to apologize and just try to blame their mistake on stupid excuses. Don't get a haircut from the fiancee, it will be a mistake. I regret coming to this place so very much. read more
