They took the time to give me the full rundown on how the bunny petting time works so I knew exactly what to expect. I really appreciated that they allowed me to choose the bunny I wanted to spend time with. The staff explained how to interact with the bunny and shared helpful tips so the experience would be enjoyable and comfortable. They were very professional, kind, and informative the whole time. The bunnies were adorable and clearly well cared for. You can tell the people there truly care about the animals and about making sure visitors have a great experience. We met Sunshine Bunny Rescue at a recent Long Beach community event, and the experience left a lasting negative impression on our family. My son has autism and absolutely loves animals. He was happy to meet the bunnies and wanted so badly to pet one. I completely understand that rescue animals need to be protected and supervised, and at first I assumed the staff was being equally cautious with everyone. However, as we stood there longer, it became clear that other children were being allowed to interact with the rabbits much more freely while my son was repeatedly restricted. When he finally got a chance to pet a bunny, it felt like he was being watched every second. My son was excited, but he was NEVER aggressive, rough, or unsafe with the animals. As a parent of a neurodivergent child, I am very accustomed to adults monitoring interactions. That was not the issue. The issue was the feeling that my son was being judged rather than welcomed. What disappointed me even more was the organization's response to my review. (See below) Rather than acknowledging how the interaction may have felt from our perspective, they stated that if their team showed extra concern, then they must have had a reason. Yet no one has ever explained what that concern was. Their response is exactly the problem. Instead of showing any curiosity about our experience or reflecting on how their actions may have been perceived, the focus was on defending the organization's actions. After reading responses to other critical reviews, I was struck by a similar pattern of defensiveness rather than a genuine effort to understand concerns being raised. We have animals at home and understand the importance of treating them gently and respectfully. If there had been a specific concern, I would have appreciated someone communicating it directly. Instead, we were left feeling unwelcome, and the response afterward only reinforced that feeling. Community outreach events should be welcoming to all families, including children who are neurodivergent. We had actually discussed adopting a rabbit before this experience. After the way we were treated and the dismissive response that followed, I would not feel comfortable working with this organization. I hope Sunshine Bunny Rescue reflects on how their volunteers interact with children who communicate, behave, or express excitement differently. A little kindness, and understanding would have gone a long way. read more

My daughter and I went to Veg with Buns this past week and had a wonderful experience. We were able to hang out with 4 different bunnies during our hour timeframe. The staff was really helpful and knowledgable about the bunnies. Bo helped us throughout our time there and she took time to answer all of my daughter's questions about bunnies. Sunshine Rabbits is absolutely the best. I trust them (and their previous group RabbitRescue Inc) completely with my three rabbits. Bonding: They helped bond my little guy with a friend and later into a trio! They made the bonding process worry-free and seamless. Susie is their expert in bonding and truly has a magic touch. Boarding: I have boarded with them once before for three weeks and it was such a relief to know that they were in such competent and caring hands. I have already booked several more boardings coming up! I think their prices are very reasonable! Grooming: We went to one of their free grooming events today and it was so smooth and easy. They are so good at handling the buns and making them feel comfortable. Ill be back! Store: They sell so many popular rabbit products from the GOOD companies (Oxbow, Sherwood, etc) and none of the crap you find in big box pet stores. Their hay is so much cheaper than places like SmallPetSelect. I just got an 8lb bag of first cut Timothy for $14! Fostering: I was a foster for a rabbit, which Melissa made a very easy process and led to us falling in love and adopting our third rabbit. They set us up with the tools and support we needed along with advice and problem solving when the foster was being destructive. Community: The employees welcome everyone and are so eager to help! When Rabbit Rescue closed, I was admittedly a bit heartbroken and lost. I had adopted from them previously, and boarded with them. Then entered Rabbit Cares - even closer to me! I was invited to their soft-opening while they set up, and to explore their settings and services. A few majorly notable things: -THERE'S AC!!! -They sell bags of hay that is better in quality, and better cost-wise than store bought (Timothy, Oat, and a blend of I can't remember but my lil agents go wild for it). -They have a pro there to thoroughly brush, comb, trim, clip, etc your fur babies. -There's room for bunno activities! -There's a shop with oxbow food, and treats, they're working on other top tier brands, they have snuffle mats, bunno safe chewies, and even cute jewelry for the parents. -There is an elevator to the building. -It's located near the freeway, and next to a major bus line. I'm excited to have Rabbit Cares in Long Beach and in Bixby Knolls at that! I look forward to seeing who all they rescue, and adopt out. This was a surprise gift for my bestie, and we had a great time! The bunnies were chill and let us pet them. We were in two separate cages, each with our own bunny, and they came by to see if we wanted to meet new bunnies about halfway through. Staff came by several times to check to see that everything was fine and brought us treats to give the bunnies too. Shout out to Bear, Esther, and Mitty our bunny friends! It is with such a sad heart I write this review because I've been going to Sunshine Rabbit's team when they were over at Rabbit Rescue. We've been getting them groomed with the team and had even boarded with them two times before -- we have been super trustful of them. Once Rabbit Rescue was closed we were devastated and were again happy to see familiar faces at Sunshine Rabbit. My husband and I were going on vacation and decided to board our bunnies with them. Long story short on the 12th day I received a call that our fury bunny had so many knots and mats under her chin to the point that when scratching with her hind foot, her foot got stuck in the pocket of knots and got dislocated. We were told she was getting around just fine and was acting normal, but that it was something that we should schedule a vet visit for. When we picked her up they showed us the dislocated foot and again reassured us she had been getting around just fine and they mentioned another staff member had also seen her scratch her chin and noticed her foot got stuck. Keep in mind our bunnies our free roam bunnies and we have never ever observed that. Once we got home and put her down we saw the sad reality -- she was not getting around just fine like they had told us. Our little girl was in obvious discomfort and limping around. From Thursday until Sunday we we able to get an appointment with a vet and this is where I just lost complete trust in the staff. Upon review of the X-Ray our vet told us her foot was completely fractured into many small pieces and that it was "highly unlikely she did that to herself." Our vet said it was broken in so many pieces to the point that corrective surgery was not a possibility. The vet had our bunny sent home in splints and said if the bones do not fuse together that we will have to have her leg amputated. I read a review from Rabbit Rescue of a person also indicating their bunny was injured while boarding and that the team shifted the blame on the owner. What really happened to our bunny we will never know, but the fact that our vet reassured us that it was not something that she could've done herself/the lack of transparency to not tell us she was in obvious pain/discomfort has left us distrustful of the place. I would only recommend people to go if they are planning to adopt or buy products...perhaps grooming but do not board with them. read more

I took my Rabbit (Bae) to get groomed at Sunshine Rabbit Center on Saturday , for the first time, and our experience was amazing. I forgot to ask the name of the groomer, but she was such a sweet and kind lady. I usually take Bae to get his nails trimmed at a vet clinics, they just take him to a room and bring him back later. I'm never present during the process. This time I was able to be present and see how this nice lady made my bunny even more handsome while petting him and talking to him tenderly. We live in the valley, but certainly we'll try to bring him again. Please support this center, staff is amazing and you will find so many different products for your rabbit and yourself. read more

idk if anyone ever had this experience but i went to their website and saw free bunny petting which i then saw 20$ donations recommended PER PERSON. so i was a little confused so i called them about it. i asked if their bunny petting is free and they responded saying it was but 20$ donations are highly recommended. "so the donations are optional?" i said. they responded "they are highly recommended". "but does it have to be 20$??". "its highly recommended". "so can i bring a 5$ donation?" "our workers are volunteers so we appreciate any donation" it was weird because they never said no or yes. i ended up going and it was pretty cool seeing all the bunnies. however by the time we were ready to leave, the worker said "alrighty so it will be 20$ donations per person" so i had to tell them that i spoke with someone over the phone that i was able to bring 5$ and they accepted it really awkwardly giving me a look. never going again!!! update: they just replied and I visited around February, some of the policies have changed since then. However, my review reflects what I personally experienced at that time. Before visiting, therefore i remember it being 20$ and I called and specifically asked if I could bring a $5 donation. I was told that the workers were volunteers and that any donation would be appreciated. When I arrived, I was later told it would be $20 per person, which conflicted with what I had been told over the phone. That's why the experience was confusing and uncomfortable for me. If the policies have since been updated or clarified, I'm glad future visitors will have clearer information. My review was simply an honest account of what happened during my visit in February. read more

Sunshine rabbit center has great facilities and a wide array of bunny supplies. Their hay (OWB, Timothy, orchard grass, alfalfa) is always very fresh, and I always get my hay stock from them, which my bunnies love to eat up. They also provide great bonding services! Ms. Audrey always does a wonderful job with our rabbit grooming. We have two senior bunnies. Our male was bonded to our female and adopted as a senior. Sunshine rabbit center is the best place to leave your fur baby while on vacation. They have the most experienced, knowledgeable and compassionate staff that can be entrusted with your fur baby's care. Recently our fur baby's health has been declining due to age. Sylvester takes daily dietary tablets to supplement his diet and since he is now having trouble grooming himself we also have to check his bottom every now and then in order to assess if we need to wash him. This is done to avoid a potential urinary infection. In addition, the week before our scheduled vacation to overseas, Sylvester was diagnosed with spinal arthritis which required a series of vaccinations every four days to help lubricate his joints. Sunshine rabbit center was so wonderful and able to accommodate and attend to all our fur baby's needs as mentioned above during our vacation. They also sent me messages and pictures to update me on his well-being. I just can't thank them enough for the excellent work they do which gives me peace of mind. I highly recommend rabbit rescue center for boarding services. They are really the best in town. read more

I am so thoroughly impressed by the team at Rabbit Cares. I boarded my 11 yr old girl Mimi there for 7 days and Melissa, Bo, Audrey, and Danielle gave the most outstanding care and love to my girl. I simply cannot find words powerful enough to express how grateful I am to have found Rabbit Cares. Such genuinely kind and dedicated professionals giving THE BEST care and effort to something they clearly feel very strongly about--bunnies! My bun Mimi has been with me since she was just a few weeks old, she was a rescue I found stranded on the street and she doesn't like just anyone. She's a deep little soul in a little bunny package yet this entire team cared for her in a way that made her so obviously comfortable during her stay. Melissa sent me photos documenting Mimi's stay, which really made my time away that much better... obvi we miss our littles when we're away:( They also groomed her and I'm still speechless at how great of a job they did with Mimi... she seriously looked five years younger after. I would gladly keep rambling about how amazing my experience was with this nonprofit but I'll wrap it up-- RABBIT CARES is the gold standard (yet insanely good value) for bunny care, fostering, hay quality, and boarding. They have bunny related items available for purchase as well, and those are all very reasonably priced. But hey, if you don't want more toys/treats for your little bun you can just donate or tip them. It all goes to caring for the bunnies...
