Sweet park run by L.A. County. This neighborhood managed to score a great park. So many county parks are not well maintained, this one is an exception. Super clean with splash zone, meeting building, play are for kids, covered pavillions for picnics, basketball, baseball, lots of grass for running and an adult fitness area.

When people mention La Puente you wanna run and hide! I initially didn't want to review Sunshine Park for fear of having all the people on Yelp discover it and then jam pack the place but oh well... I visited this park about a month ago for a birthday party. I have no idea who the little girl in the pic is but she was having such fun and she made me wanna be a little girl again! The park is a great little hidden secret for maybe the people that live around it. It's super clean and all the water mechanisms work! Best of all it is FREE fun for the kids on summer days.

Man I grew up near this park and never even knew about it. I'm so glad i live in this day and age of yelp or else i might actually have to learn how to cook. Thats not pretty for anyone. But about the park...I agree with what JG said, its a total hidden gem. Sunshine park is a small 4 acre park that tucked away in a little neighborhood but it offers so much to the community. There are at least 3 shelters with BBQs and many picnic tables, there's open green space and lawns that are shaded by trees, nice sidewalks that can serve as a track as well, a splash pad, play stations for toddlers and children, a baseball diamond with bleachers, an exercise station and basketball court. The splash pad is so cool and colorful, it totally makes me happy and its free and open for use all year around! Everything is beautifully maintained. All these features are free of charge to use. They also offer a variety of services and activities such as itty bitty sports for kids under 6, they offer cheer leading, karate, song and dance groups, homework help, summer programs, free snack programs and more for kids. They also offer computer classes, Aztec dancing, aerobics, even health education for adults. Some act ivies may require a small fee for uniforms and such and some are free. They also have events celebrating most holidays such as Halloween dances and candy giveaways and such. There are park workers on site every day of the week except Sunday and i often see patrol cars so the park is pretty safe. Come find me there for sunshine and BBQ time! Happy Holidays everyone

I like this park. Small play area but a lot of field space for picnic. The splash pad is fun too.

I am extremely disappointed with the way this situation was handled and the level of…read moreprofessionalism shown by staff. When I enrolled my child in the Parent and Me class, I specifically asked whether both parents could attend. I was clearly told yes. I was also informed the class would be held at the playground. When we arrived at the playground, no one was there. I had to call to find out the class was actually being held inside. After going inside, the instructor informed us that only one parent was allowed to attend. Roxanna then referenced the flyer and stated that "Parent and Me" meant only one parent, insinuating that I misunderstood or could not read it correctly. I have attended many Mommy and Me and Parent and Me classes in the past, and when only one parent is allowed, it is clearly specified on the flyer. This flyer did not state that limitation. She then told me that I should have contacted Tiny Tots directly for information rather than relying on the front desk. This was my first time visiting this park. There was no way for me to know that the information provided by staff was incorrect or that it was my responsibility to verify it elsewhere. The conflicting information, poor communication, and dismissive attitude made this a very frustrating and disappointing experience. I hope staff receive better training so families are given accurate information and treated respectfully.

Felt safe and had plenty of parking. Love what the city has done. They also have concerts at the park that start in June! Definately, one of the best local parks in the area.

Schabarum Regional Park - Cherry blossoms

I absolutely love Peter F. Schabarum Regional Park! It's the perfect quick escape -- close enough…read moreto civilization for convenience, yet far enough to leave the hustle and bustle of traffic and city life behind. Right now the cherry blossoms are in full, breathtaking bloom, turning parts of the park into a dreamy pink wonderland. The wildlife is thriving too: squirrels galore that are so bold they'll walk right up to your feet if you sit still and stay calm. On warmer days I've spotted rattlesnakes scurrying across the trails, so I always recommend staying in the middle of the paths as a safety precaution. From the main entrance at Colima Road, you can choose the paved walkway or head straight for the dirt trails depending on your mood. I usually make my way toward the horse stables and equestrian area -- watching the horses get fed or running around their enclosures is one of my favorite parts. Just be mindful of the occasional big mounds of horse droppings on the trails; it's a small price to pay for the beauty. The park is generally very clean, with plenty of trash cans scattered throughout. There are numerous benches, picnic areas, fire pits perfect for groups, a children's playground, and even a seasonal creek with several charming wooden bridges crossing directly over it (though the water is pretty dry now that the rainy season is over). You'll also notice signs posted along the trails warning about bobcats and mountain lions. I've been coming here regularly for six months and haven't heard or seen any myself, but I've seen quite a few hikers carrying pepper spray as a precaution. Just be safe out there. Weekends get busy with families celebrating birthdays and enjoying the outdoors, but it's all part of the lively atmosphere. For dog lovers, there are two fantastic off-leash dog parks right near the front entrance -- one for large dogs and one for medium/small dogs. Outside of those areas, dogs must be on leash per the signs. The hilltop trails offer absolutely stunning panoramic views that make every visit worthwhile. My only heads-up: the park is officially closed on Mondays and Tuesdays (per LA County rules), but a lot of locals park across the street at the nearby mall and walk in through the gates anyway. If you're in the Rowland Heights/Hacienda Heights area and looking for a beautiful regional park with trails, nature, horses, cherry blossoms, and those lovely wooden bridges over the creek, I highly recommend Schabarum. Just bring water, wear good shoes, keep an eye out for those snakes in the summer, and stay aware on the trails! 5/5 -- I'll definitely be back soon.

For convenience, I decided to buy a parking pass, which cost $10 and allowed for re-entry until 8 pm the same day. There were plenty of trees to photograph. Because of the current hot weather, there were several flowers already drying out. It's important to note that park rules prohibit cutting any tree or flower growing in the premises. Park amenities are minimal, but you can find multiple restrooms with water fountains and picnic tables to sit. When I went, there wasn't a big crowd, and the green space is already expansive. When the weather isn't hot, it's calming to take a walk along the paths and grass to visit different areas of the park.

The bathroom is a small walk, but they have one which is more than some places can say. My biggest qualm with this park is that we usually run into parents/families not watching their kids. No fault of the park or the space, but some parks you have to make sure other kids aren't trampling over yours more -- this is one of them! We've come at different hours and I think early morning is best and the people tend to pay attention better. I think there's such great variety in things to do at this park: Swings, a merry go round type thing, a seesaw, rocking seat, about 6 slides, unique climbing elements and more! I definitely recommend it!

For example, there's the tandem swing that you can go on with you younger kids, which made for some great videos, and the mini store fronts and rocking school bus that help with pretend play. My favorite, of course, is the spinning disc that I always end up spinning way too fast for the kids... Fun place for younger kids for sure if you're looking for a nice clean playground. Definitely didn't have anything this fancy when I was growing up.
