Let me start off by saying...what give the right for a rv park to call itself a resort? I will not stay at any Encore campground again until they have some sort of inspection procedure. Yes it is "the Keys" and yes they may think that no matter what, they will always have the business, but they will not get returning customers. The only thing that this place had going for it was the view, if you were ocean front and the pool, otherwise, check-in was horrible, the bathrooms were disgusting, the beach front was covered with the sea grass and garbage, there is no game room, there is no restaurant, the bathroom by the pool had spit balls on the walls (been there for at least 2 weeks) since that was the length of my stay, no WIFI, and I needed it for my work.
So here is my experience..arrived after hours, 13.5 hour ride, and they don't have the paperwork at the gate. I booked this a month ago. They were going to put me in any site and then in the morning clear this up. I did not stand for that, cause I was not going to break down my 40ft motor home only to move to another site. They did get hold of office personnel, which I thought was going to solve the problem. They told me the site and off I went only to find the site was still occupied. Then they told me to pick any other site. It is rather difficult to find other sites that I could turn in as previous posts had stated, yes people were all over the place with the storage tents, all the way to the street, so you could not turn into a site easily. I picked one for the night and went back to the office. I picked the elite site and they charged me for it too, not considering the problems they had caused me already. The view was great so I cant complain about that.
So now for the campground, again as previous posts state, yes there were storage tents all over the place, the person next to me even had a big pool, extra boats, golf carts, sheds, campers were made to live in year round and it looked like it. It looked more like a storage place. Garbage that had not been cleaned up all over the shoreline and on sites.
Lets get to the amenities they offer..wifi, NOPE, down for the entire two weeks. There excuse is that its free, my argument with them is "no I paid for it in my site, since it is advertised". The restaurant is non existent. The building is there, but closed. The arcade, two machines and none of them work. The bathroom at the pool, the sink was so rusted that it was falling apart and there were spit balls on the wall for the entire two weeks. The pool had a great design along with the furniture, but that was it. They did not clean the pool very well, the same wrapper was on the ground for two weeks. I normally would have picked it up myself, but I wanted to see how long it was going to take. They didn't skim the pool so the bugs were floating along with the iguana poop on the tile.
Lastly, found out on the last day that there was a bus that took you to Key West, it would have been nice for the office provide more information to its guests on what is available to them. read more
