This is my first time here, and I am pleased. I don't live nearby, but I have plans to be in SC on some regular basis and will time it so that I come here when I need my nails done. While doing my research, I called about 6 salons in the area. I think EN had the best prices and the highest ratings, and they are open on Sundays which is when I'm in SC, so that's why I chose them.
I had to call a couple of times (price, then to verify payment stuff), and both times whoever answered was helpful (and yes, I understood them). Like Kaelyn O. posted, I also had some problems finding the location, so I was about 15 minutes late. There was a lot of traffic on the street, so I didn't want to slow down too long to find it. I saw 378, but then I saw the "380" on the building, but that building had a large business, so I thought the address belonged only to that business, but yes, it's really where it should be. The closest large intersection is Holly, but I think the one closest to them is Bush. You should find street parking, but if you don't, if you turn right in the driveway before you pass the storefront, you can park in the back (I didn't go there).
I was greeted right away. I had initially asked for Lien, but another lady helped get me settled down first. Since it was my first time, I didn't know who's who. Then a lady approached me, so I introduced myself, and she asked if I wanted her to do both. I told her to do just my fingernails and anyone else can do my toe nails, so I was running late, but I thought it was nice she asked. I was offered water a couple of times, which I declined.
They have a nice selection of OPI polish to choose from. Both ladies were very thorough. This is the first place I haven't had to tell them to make sure the old polish was thoroughly removed (some places leave a little which they might buff out later). They both did a great job on removing cuticle and putting on the polish. The pedicure comes with a hot stone massage that actually lasted about 5 minutes, which was greatly appreciated. My hand massage was probably just as long; no hot stone, but she used warm lotion. I had initially told them to make sure they would add more pressure when they massaged (most places just act like they are putting on lotion) but was told that it would just be a regular massage. However, when they massaged, there was actually some pressure to it.
When I saw Lien, I told her I wanted a regular manicure and pedicure, and no one tried to upsell me by asking about extra callous remover, massage, eyebrow wax, etc. I don't really notice how long it takes other places, but only because I was in a slight hurry this time, I knew my mani/pedi took about 50 minutes from soaking my feet till leaving the chair for the drying area. If I had more time, I would have dried for 10-15 minutes, but I was late, so I sat there for another 5. Since I'm paying for a service, they can take as long as they want, better than being rushed out. Mani = $13, pedi = $23; mani/pedi combo = $35.
Areas they can improve: (1) would love the mani/pedi combo to be a few dollars less (it's now $1 less, which may not entice people who don't really want both to do both), but it's competitive to other places near them; (2) miscommunication about "more pressure" on the massage was interesting - she mentioned it's a hand massage, but I'm not sure exactly what she meant, as in "we are just using our bare hands and therefore don't have strength for more pressure" or that maybe she thought I was asking for a body massage, although I did ask her to clarify but kind of got the same answer; and (3) their towels were getting raggedy (torn, frayed) although I'm sure they were clean but just doesn't give a good impression.
I was so pleased with their service and how my nails turned out that I actually tipped a couple of dollars more than normal this time :) That's a big deal for me. I would definitely recommend this place and can't wait to return. read more
