I stopped here because I was HANGRY and saw that they made cheesesteaks. I'm from Philly and since my go-to place closed (I assume they're doing catering since that exploded pretty quickly), I needed a new place. Yes, I've tried that place in Dunedin that everyone raves about... NO, just no. This place made a pretty good cheesesteak. Wow! I accidentally stumbled on this gem, and I can say with certainty that k found my new go-to sub place. I'll start with the food. I had the traditional Italian sub and it was amazing. Sadly, we will have to stop patronizing our favorite sub shop. We've loved this place for years. Tonight my sub was barely, actually slightly smaller than 5 inches. I ordered a 6inch super sub. I also ordered a Greek salad... at one time the box would be full. Now, it literally looked like toppings for a sandwich. There was barely even any lettuce. My order was $45 & would of been just as good iff not better if I grabbed subs from 7-1. The steak bomb sub was good & accurate. The fried mushrooms are usually my favorite! Place was awesome! Everything you can ask for in a sub shop that isn't a chain. Subs were delicious and not expensive. Customer service is what you'd expect, friendly and made ordering pretty easy. This place is a typical, hole in the wall, not a lot of fu-fu, still decent priced type of sub shops. I've had a few of the subs - turkey, Italian, Cuban, a few others - all pretty solid. I do think a little extra meat will go a long way, but the toppings seem fresh. The cheese fries are a favorite, even though it's just nacho cheese, but somehow they make it extra good! One of my favorite lunch spots when I'm in the area. They have a lunch box combo where you get a half sandwich and soup for $5. I've also had the Chicken Philly and it's really good. It's a low key kind of place but all of their sides are made fresh in house (try the potato salad). Overall great place, fast service and fairly priced. Would recommend!! read more

First timer here today and I will definitely be back! Ingredients were all fresh on my steak hoagie. The bread for that and the French dip was really tasty. I do think they both could have used a little more meat like some people have mentioned but hey cutting back on calories never hurts I guess. Food was tasty, fresh and that's what matters most! When we arrived on Saturday afternoon, the line was out the door. It surprised us, to be honest, because the place has a solid 3 star review. Like the others say, it's a hole in the wall shop, there are booths on the inside that probably haven't been updated since the place opened in the mid 80's, the menu is relatively extensive and the food is prepared to order. It's about as Working Man's place as you can get. That being said, we placed our orders: I got the Philly Cheese Steak combo and the husbeastie got himself and Italian combo add Jalapenos. The place was hopping so we got a booth by luck, someone was leaving. We waited about 10 minutes and finally our order came. The food was delicious! My sub was hot and fresh and super tasty. It is casual, comfortable, affordable, and reliably good. You can get in and out in 15 minutes with a full belly for $10. The staff is hardworking and appear to be down-to-earth good people. They're not overly friendly or engaging and I find that to be a good thing when you just want your sandwich and to keep it moving. They are nice and efficient. I love the french dip and their fries are the crinkle kind. Who doesn't love well-seasoned crinkle fries? Is it amazing, no. Is it good and easy, yes. I will return. read more

This little sub shop has been around for decades. My meals here have always been tasty. I believe the same family had owned it all this time. Keep in mind: this is not a fancy place. If you wear your name stitched on your shirt, you'll fit right in. This is a working person's place to eat. The decor is retro 80's. The bathroom is a mess. But I don't go here to use the John. I like Sunset Subs. Prices are decent. The menu is fairly extensive. It really hasn't changed since Reagan was President, except for some new paneling in the front near the register. read more

I can find no fault with Sunset Sub, so 5 stars. I've yet to have a lunch here that didn't please. Prices are reasonable, staff is super friendly, it's clean, just a chill and delicious lunch place. I also like that it's a local business with a staff that's not trained in that gross, annoying corporate manner that is prevalent when I have the misfortune of having to spend my dollars at a nationwide chain. these guys are personable and genuine. but yeah, the sandwich bread is delicious, not sure where they get it but I like. oh yeah/ really great potato salad made here, and not scooped from some damn carton they bought from Costco. I wanted to like this place, as it's the nearest sandwich shop to where I live. Sadly, my experience here was pretty lackluster. Ordered a Cheesesteak and a Cheeseburger with fries. This sub/sandwich shop is very quaint. I was greeted immediately when walking in the door and this is key for me in many restaurants. The previous reviews said this place was dirty but it was uncluttered and clean today. I ordered two 6" subs and I didn't have to wait long at all. I would hope not due to the fact here were only 2 patrons in the place who were already eating. My only reason I am not completely wowed is because the subs did not have a lot of meat to them. I'm not looking for a hugely stuffed sub but I would like to get more than I did. They tasted good and I will return in the future. read more

If your looking for a quick lunch break item and this is close to you, it can be considered if on a time crunch. I got a tuna melt and was not very impressed in the taste. Tasted like a tuna melt, but was cost effective for price. If you need something less then $10 and in a hurry, give it a try but not really a place I would actively go back too. read more
