The food here is good but the service is terrible. We always go here for dinner on the 4th of July when we come off the water, usually the service is okay, not great but okay. Tonight there were 3 servers for a total of 20 people between the bar, the dinning room and the patio, not super busy but it took forever to get a check and our waitress was just rude; "what do you want?" Might give it another shot because it is our tradition but they need to be nicer to people. I recommend the blue cheese burger and they also have good pizza but the beer selection is lacking, not much to choose from if you like IPA.

Nice setting and good food at reasonable prices. Owner operated with family charm. Stop by during sunset for an added bonus.

Good food. But, not especially welcoming when you enter and try to find a table. Overpriced for the meal.

I'd recommend the fish fry, burgers, pizza, and most definitely the cheese curds.

For $25-ish a plate, I'd expect more. **NOT SAFE FOR GLUTEN INTOLERANT PEOPLE.** We had a member of our party who cannot eat gluten and who asked the server to make sure their food was prepared gluten free. Their plate arrived at the table with rye bread on it. They didn't feel like they could ask for the plate to be remade because the place was so chaotic and had to eat carefully around the bread. Despite this, they still felt ill afterwards - likely due to cross contamination in the kitchen. When we asked someone about this, they literally told us it wasn't worth the money to offer gluten free options and couldn't guarantee how things were cooked. Honestly, I'm not sure how this place can get away with this excuse with hundreds of guests every night... yet somehow the concept of gluten free is not on their radar. Very frustrating.

All were full and was told that if we were to dine outside our meals would come out faster, but I would have to come back inside to place orders. Took a picture of the menu, which other than what the protein was did not go into a description or what would come with the entree. Came back in with orders and was first told need card to put on hold then said, maybe just charge for entire ticket might work best. So that is what I did. The card machine also asks for the tip up front as well. Meals come out fried fish platter for two, which I was told was better deal for our two folks than ordering each separately really didn't come out any different then what they were getting if single order. Seabass was maybe 4 inches by 4 inches in size and the grits were not creamy like you would expect, but clumpy. Asparagus was thinner than a pencil and tasteless. My granddaughter's steak looked okay, but she had to cut it with a plastic fork and knife as none was provided for any of us and meals all came out on paper plates. Everyone except for the seabass order came with fries and we had to ask for ketchup and a squirt was added to the paper plates. No one came around to see how we were enjoying our meals or if we need any refills (husband had to go in and get a glass bottle of tap water for the table.) If the staff would have come around and checked on us they would have gotten an earful. I get now why they want you to pay ahead of time and not at the end of service because no one will becoming around to check on you and they want their money up front. I would not have tipped generously for what we were served and how we were not checked up upon. This place to the locals may be a gem, but to folks on vacation wanting a great meal and overall experience it was not. Over priced, lack of service from staff, not so great food and lack of indoor seating. If I could it would have been no stars.

Generously prepared, great seasoning and with the right temperature. The fries are sprinkled with cinnamon which was a first for me. The sweet potato fries were a little soggy but not bad. No drinks, no "we will be with you shortly" or anything. We just sat there. Finally a server came over and said they had a big group come in and it was causing some backup and the host should have told us; he didn't. The drinks and appetizer came quickly and the street corner appetizer was very good; I would order it again. Once the appetizer was finished we sat with empty glasses for a good while. Again, no communication. Once the food arrived, things got much better. Wraps were good, not great. My daughter's pizza was good. With all the restaurants in the area, they will need to up their game on service.

We were seated right away, they weren't too busy even though we were there during the height of tourism season. It seems like they have some local regulars, which is always a good sign. The restaurant was dimly lit and nicely decorated, definitely an upscale atmosphere. We were so, so excited to find that Crate was a Coca Cola establishment. Those seem to be few and far between in Door County. So we happily ordered some Diet Cokes, and some refills. Come to find out later, they were $3 each!! I had a vegetarian sushi roll, and Deb ordered a Ramen bowl. They were pricy, but not more than one might expect from a touristy area. However, comma. $20 Crab Rangoons? Surely these must be some amazing rangoons, mother. We had to try. My sushi roll was fine, maybe a bit heavy on the vinegar from the sauce that was drizzled on it. The Crab Rangoons were hot and fresh, but honestly not any more amazing than those from my local Chinese restaurant. I likely wouldn't order them again at this price. If I am in the area again, I'd go to Crate if that is what the group wants to do. For me personally, it was just a bit too expensive for what it was.

Parking on historic 3rd Ave was easier than expected, probably due to the fact it was Sunday and most shops had closed by 4 p.m. We walked in and were greeted warmly, then settled into a nice booth to check out the menus. The menu was on the small side, but I noticed a pork belly ramen that sounded tempting. I ordered it without the pork belly though--my gut told me to skip it this time. My friend ordered a vegetarian sushi with tofu. We also shared six crab rangoon. They cost $20. Yes, TWENTY bucks! They were tasty, but honestly, nothing to write home about. We were happy to see it was a Coke place and ordered diet cokes and a refill. After the hot day, we were parched! But then the surprise hit: each diet coke was $3, and refills weren't free. We weren't warned beforehand, but okay. All told, with ramen, half the crab rangoon, two diet cokes, and tip, my meal alone bill topped $50. For the price, I expected a bit more. Probably won't be back if I'm ever back in the area.

I would definitely not go here with children. We made our reservation for 5:30, arrived at 5:15 per the restaurant and didn't actually eat until well after 6:00. We also ordered the option for the white fish boil (the kids meal and the adult option (as I was planning to share with my 9 month old) - both the kids meal and my meal were still Cajun. I'm guessing the actual Cajun option would have been spicier, but I could not share with my 9 month old and my 6 year old also struggled to eat her meal due to the spice level. I even confirmed on the phone prior to arriving due to some of the reviews I have seen about similar issues. The alcohol options were limited and overall for the price this meal was not worth it. I truly wanted to love and share a cool experience with my family and went away extremely disappointed
