Popped in for a beer and sat at the bar. The padding is cracked and uncomfortable to rest your arm on. The bartender said that was the next thing they were working on, I was glad to hear that. Was offered a kitchen menu and we decided to try the grilled cheese and tomato soup. The grilled cheese was on point, but didn't care much for the soup at all- but the thing that impressed me the most was how the bartender asked what we thought and expressed true appreciation for our feedback. She said they needed to know what their customers thought so they would be able to make adjustments and changes. How refreshing to get that from a local little bar. I wanted to give this place more stars, but the biggest turn off was that someone was smoking outside the back door and the breeze kept blowing it into the bar and that really ruined the entire food experience. I think if they stop that smoking issue and after they fix the padding and work on the soup a bit, it will definitely get higher stars. Probably one of the worst bars I've ever gone to. I've never felt so out of place, got many weird looks from the patrons there. I thought I was going to get lynched. Oh, I stood at the bar for 10 minutes, the female bartender kept ignoring me while helping other people who came afterwards. I didn't mad dog her or anything, just kept it friendly and smiled even after she made eye contact with me and continued to ignore me. That's okay though, I'll never be returning. I went to Sunset Lounge for the first time and it was pretty chill. The place was a dive bar that had pool table, electronic (up to date) dart boards, and KARAOKE. You can pick from hundreds of music and have your OWN STAGE. But that also comes with the music that you'll have to listen to. So if you are open to listening to other people sing and you don't mind then this place is perfect! For some reason, the people singing that night sounded as if they were professional singers lol a bit intimidating to go up next. Apparently I heard the bar has a new owner and opened a kitchen. I didn't know the previous owner, but the food was on point. I ordered the tator tot nachos and, OMG, was it delicious.. the tator tot was not soggy, it stayed crunchy with the hot cheese!! I think my favorite part of this place was the badass bartender. The night I went, the bar was PACKED and she was the ONLY bartender. I waited for a little while, made eye contact with her, but she knew I was waiting. As soon as she was done pouring, she got to me right away. She poured me a mean ass drink and all the waiting paid off! Strong and made me feel like i got my money's worth! I first want to say that I like this bar. The people are cool and that atmosphere is nice. I usually go there to drink, have fun, and karaoke with my friends on the weekend. This past Friday I was there to meet up with some friends. Karaoke starts at 9. Got there around 9:30. Put a song in and got called up after about 5 singers. Friends showed up around 10ish. KJ put out a sign that said no new singers which I thought was odd having been a KJ myself I have never seen that. After about an hour and a half went up and asked the KJ when I will sing again. Told me in about 20 min. After waiting another hour and a half asked him again when I would get to sing. Told me that he has a lot of people and that he will get me in at about 45 min from then. I said okay but I've seen 2 people go up and sing within the same hour. I asked if I have to tip to go up and sing faster and he just kept saying that's up to me. I always tip my KJs but this guy was coming off extremely rude! After that I continued to wait the security guard came up to me and asked me how I was doing and I told him I was okay just Irritated with the KJ and making small talk with him. Then the KJ rudely called me out on the mic in front of everyone and looked directly at me and said okay you can come up now with attitude! I got up there. Then he got mad at me saying why did I have to complain to the security guard and that he doesn't care about my problems and just to sing already. I told him that i wasn't trying to cause problems. That I'm a regular here and that I have never seen a KJ treat anyone the way he treated me and that he's very rude and it's ridiculous that I've had to wait over 3 hours to sing another song while a lot of people got to sing twice and that he's not gonna make people happy this way. Everyone was complaining about him and how rude he was! I can't believe that he thinks it's okay to treat customers this way. He was the rudest guy I've ever met! As a KJ myself, I would never treat anyone that way. I was not being rude or mean to him, he just threw a lot of shade my way. Love this place! It's been one of my regular spots for a while now. Staff is great, drinks are always strong, and the food is surprisingly good! They do karaoke almost every night, which frankly can be a hit or miss for me depending on my mood on a given night. But it's still a fun option to have around. read more

My experience here at the Sunset lounge has always been a great time! I can bring any of my friends and they all have such a good time thanks to Vee! She is the best bartender hands down! I have been here a couple of times before and it was great. Always a good time. But the Karaoke DJ you guys have now that was there on Saturday night 11/3/18 is super rude and unprofessional and turned our fun night into an annoying one. Me and my girls left one bar to go here to sing some karaoke for my bday. We arrived at 12:30 am and there was a sign that said, "No more sign ups" I thought this was strange being that the bar didn't close for at least another hour. Needless to say we were all disappointed because we took Uber's to get here from another bar. Me and my friend both asked the KJ if we gave him $20 if he'd put in a song for us. He said rudely, "Nope! You should've got here earlier!" Right after we asked him that, we heard him skip through three people's names that were no longer there to sing. My friend went up again to ask since he skipped 3 people, if he could fit me in and he still said no with an attitude. She mentioned how rude he was and that she would write a review and he said "Go ahead. My boss' name is James!" Meanwhile, this guy that overheard us talking about him said he'd talk to him for us. Somehow he was able to squeeze me in, which i was grateful for. But then as soon as he called my name and i started singing, some drunk girl got on stage that I didn't even know and asked him for a microphone and he gave her one without asking my permission. I have never had a worse karaoke experience before in my life and I karaoke quite a bit! Other than that, the bartender working that night was super sweet! It was very busy and she got us our drinks right away and even made me a complimentary blow job shot for my bday! I've stopped into the bar a few times after work. It's a decent little dive bar that wont break your bank. Unfortunately they have no draft beer and being a big fan of craft beer it's a slight bummer for me. Some of the other selection seems slightly outdated to me compared to some other local spots. They also do karaoke most nights of the week which can put a damper on things when you're trying to have a quiet few drinks after work. Not my favorite nor my least favorite bar in the area. As far as dive bars go, this hidden gem is five star well make that 4.5 only because there is a kitchen being abandoned in the back. But the days that the bartender known as laura is working the place gets a zero. She is not a bartender, she spends her time there on the phone( ive seen on both hers as well as the bar phone), even goin as far as turning the music down( near off) because of it. She is snarky and inattentive, but i enjoy this little secluded dark lost in time bar so much i still go.( tryin to avoid when she is working now). The sad part is, this opinion is held by quite a number of the oldtimers and regulars. Within an hour we'd all tired of the top 40 DJ playing and the scene just not being quite what we were looking for, so I quickly browsed yelp and decided this was the spot. And oh, this WAS THE SPOT. Seriously. It was exactly what we were looking for. We were all a little tipsy when we arrived and the bartender was just the right balance of awesome and surly. She mocked us when it was appropriate and was always quick with the strong drinks. The kareoke list was HUGE and the volume was loud enough to be heard, but not so loud as to be embarrassing if you aren't an amazing singer. Oh man!! My new fav spot to go multiple times a week! Always a great vibe, cheapest prices for bomb drinks and the best part...the staff! I LOVEEEE the staff! I actually come here quite often. Drink prices are good, and even better during happy hour. I haven't taken advantage of the karaoke yet, but it does get more crowded around karaoke time. The bartenders are fun and personable and I rarely have to wait to get a drink. All in all its a great dive bar with a fun crowd. Always my go-to when I'm in Fullerton. By the way, DB (which I suppose is short for douchebag) and Sara H must have come together on the same night and had an ax to grind. Recently we've been coming in here more often, primarily because of Lori, a great bartender. No matter how crowded it gets, I can't remember ever having an empty bottle for more than 15 or 20 seconds. Although after a few beers, my memory might be a little less than stellar. She knows her drinks too but more importantly she knows people. She's able to get people to interact and get to know each other. When we go in now it feels like we're going to a friend's party. We usually try to make it in for the Friday Happy Hour from 4 - 6, $1 off beer and drinks. The regular cast of characters are very friendly and can be quite entertaining. Thank you yelp once again for coming through. Talk about an adorable neighborhood bar. And it's not a crowded, dinghy dive bar either. We're talking a mellow Thursday evening, with a 'hey how's it going on' right when you walk in the bar with the most eclectic group of 20 year olds to 50 year olds. We sat at the bar and I immediately noticed the bronzed horse head on the wall, behind the bar, settled in a wave of mountains and right underneath was a pool of snacks from pretzels, cheese sticks and those square crackers that come in a 6 pack you used to eat when you were younger. Okay fine, I still eat them. I ordered a goose and soda from Jennifer and my friend ordered a beer. $4.50 for mine and $3 for hers. Really? Awesome! Not usually the type to leave reviews but I would give this place 0 stars if I could... hadn't been here in awhile but came after work on a Tuesday with a coworker. Never had a problem coming here and used to be a regular. Got overcharged after only ordering two drinks and when I tried to ask for an itemized receipt, bartender Candice began yelling at us. I tried to sort it out with the other bartender, Ellie who tried to be helpful but there was no helping the situation while Candice was clearly under the influence of God knows what. Candice then proceeds to THROW GLASS BOTTLES AT MY COWORKER AND ME. Very dangerous situation and the owner needs to consider the safety of his loving regulars here. Absolutely unacceptable and disgusting behavior coming from someone of her big age. She ended up hitting an uninvolved guest with glass and got alcohol everywhere. She even tried telling me that I always caused problems there. Maybe she had me confused with someone else since she was so high on drugs/ drunk. I was told my tab would be completely comped and saw that they still charged me for a bunch of extra drinks I didn't order. OH YES! :) We drove from Long Beach to Fullerton to try out Ziller Bar and when we found out how expensive the drinks were, we wanted to find a bar to pre-game. My friend Yelped Sunset Lounge and we drove off. We didn't know we were going to end up staying here! But good choice! When we got here it was pretty empty except for the people at the bar. You can forget your past, your name, and hell... maybe even your sex for less than 20 bucks at this place. Hangover insurance not included. Don't go here if you have something to prove. Trust me, you'll get proven wrong. The Jukebox (despite being a new school digital "rape you for all you're worth" jukebox) has a lot of stuff in stock ready to go; no having to spend more money "downloading" music. My only complaint is that Debbie isn't here anymore. Debbie was in my opinion, the best God damn bartender in all of Southern California. you know those cheap well drinks I was talking about? So... My husband and I went this past weekend with my cousin. We had a blast. The locals were nice. The bar didn't stink like anything. The bar tender was very busy but we always seemed to have a drink in our hands. We didn't sing Karaoke this time maybe next time.. But those who were singing seemed to have alot of fun, The music was great... I have never been to a place where I liked every song they played... But let me tell you I liked them all and they were from every year and genera. My friends and I come here pretty often for karaoke, and it is rare to find a place that has decent karaoke where you can also sing more than once in a single night. The KJ Chris does song rotations, so everyone gets to sing once before anyone sings twice. There are lots of regulars but also newcomers just out to have fun. It's not a snobby atmosphere that some karaoke joints can have. The song selection is great. I recommend coming early and on a weeknight, it can get busy on Friday and Saturday and they typically have only one bartender working at a time. This place is definitely a dive, though. Several months ago I would have rated this only at 3 stars because they allowed smoking inside. That has changed, however, the air is clear to breathe. The drinks are cheap, though not the best, and they don't have any draft beer either.
