Having business in Buena Park recently, I passed by Rush Cocktail Lounge many times during the day. But this is a nighttime bar. They open daily at 5pm (except for Saturday, when they open at 9am). I dropped in on a Sunday evening. I purchased a pint (Sculpin IPA @ $9.00) and watched a bit of Sunday Night Football. The bar tender was good. If you want to be left alone; she'll leave you alone. If you want someone to chat with, she's capable of good conversation. This is a classic neighborhood bar. Some might call it a dive bar--but it's too neat and clean to qualify as a true dive bar. The regulars seem to keep to themselves; but they do not come across as unfriendly nor territorial. It's a good safe place to get a drink. read more

If you're looking for a chill dive bar, this place is NOT IT. Tried coming here on a Saturday night and it was super dead. Walked in and it was just 2 other patrons at the bar. Music was playing at first, but after the song it was awkward silence. Got a round of shots and started a game of pool when this broad walks in stating she's making a grand entrance. We are minding our business when she starts chatting with our friends at the bar. Apparently she got kicked out and pepper sprayed at another bar for insulting the patrons based on their origin and culture. She was "on a good one." Our friends stepped away from the bar and joined the rest of us at the pool table when she starts throwing up gang signs saying not to mess with her. That's when I noticed she's covered in tattoos; face, neck, back, arms. We assure her we are minding our business and no one wants confrontation. She proceeds to tell us she's calling her brother to show us what's up. That was our sign to leave. We closed our tab after only 1 round, cleared the pool table and walked tf out. Apparently this is a normal occurrence because the bartenders didn't even intervene and the other patrons were unbothered. NEVER AGAIN! This woman throwing gang signs and threatening us must have worked there or she's a local because as we walked out, one of the workers was talking to her, saying "you can't be talking to patrons like that." Maybe this place was fun and poppin back in the day, but it definitely is NOT the fun 4 star dive bar you see here on Yelp. We were unsuspecting victims of Rush and live to tell the tale. read more

Man I dont remember the last time I ever set foot into a dive bar and for the first time in a long time decided to enter this place on a Saturday night. Not much to say about food as we weren't there for that nor do I recall if they even serve such thing there. Unfortunately this place does not match what is posted as far as the ambiance goes. Me and a group of friends decided to stop here for a late night drink after a long day from work to hanging out at knotts. The experience here was below what was truly expected, upon us getting our beverages and what not a this random female barged in loud and obnoxious saying "thats right this B made a grand entrance, and continued talking and blabbing about how she was pepper sprayed at another bar because she through some very inappropriate Slurs at mexican people. As she continued my party walked away from her and minded our own business and she proceeded to try and start up a problem with a friend, mind you we were minding our own business and she continued to inch closer to one of the woman that was with our party blabbing about talk this behind my back talk that... then she went ahead and throws up her suppose neighborhood(gang banging) on random people that literally were minding their own business. Then proceeded to say we as in her (neighborhood owns this street and bar) we all laughed and brushed it off like whatever man. She didn't like that at all and proceeded to say I'm calling my brothers to come up here and stir up the pot and left slamming doors. Seems like this is the usual for this place as none of the employees batted an eye nor said not one thing up until the older gentleman walked outside to talk to her in which she claimed she works there. He proceeded to say you can't talk to people like that and she was already feeling it from whatever other bar she started a problem at . Sure as hell was a crazy experience and dont see ourselves ever coming back to this establishment sucks looked like a cool little kick it spot to play pool and drink the night away this definitely ruined the experience. So unless you want to get gang banged on dont come to this place restrooms reek of strong dookie and music here let's just say you'll have more fun at a dave and busters than here read more

We came across the Rush Cocktail Lounge on a Sunday night after another place was packed with over an hour-long wait. An unpretentious lounge, the friendly bartender Kari served me and my lovely companion well-made drinks at a reasonable price. On that particular night, there was a cool mixture of different personalities, all of whom were respectful. I certainly will be returning when I find myself in the area again. read more

Literally no complaints. The bartender (Kari) was super friendly, welcoming, attentive, and she makes great drinks. Music was great, and played several genres. The atmosphere gives dive bar vibes but the crowd was diverse and everyone was friendly and sociable. We didn't eat and I don't think they have food. read more

Service: came here on a Friday night after medieval times. There were only about 4 or 5 people there so the service was great. Food: NA Drinks: the drinks were good, beer was cold and mixed drinks were poured right. Pricing: the pricing here is great. Cheaper than most dives bars that I have been to. Location (int./ext.): this place is located on the Main Street but the parking is in the rear. I don't think there is street parking - which is probably why not many ppl stop in since it's kinda dark from ours as well. Suggestion: is the sign up front said "bar" and "parking in rear" in a bright sign would probably get more people in - im assuming there aren't any of those signs since I didn't see any. But the inside is chill, they have a pool table and a juke box. read more

Be careful with what staff you communicate with. I met Diamond and observing her and her ability to communicate and connect with customers is a huge benefit for this type of business. As a 16 year retention specialist for the Marine Corps it's my job to know how to find a common ground with individuals. She is a force multiplier. Unfortunately, the bartender tonight decided to chime in a conversation between myself and Diamond at closing. I shared with Chris that her and I have been communicating and laughing the last hour and a half but she decided to become aggressive accusing me of disrespecting Diamond. After an awkward conversation everyone at the bar becoming visibly uncomfortable, I tried explaining to Chris However she was unwilling to communicate or understand. It's unfortunate. I was just trying to relax and enjoy good company after a 12 hour shift with fellow Marines but at the end of it all someone's pride and inability to communicate ruined it for me. Decided to stop by the "Rush Cocktail Lounge" on a Sunday evening. Everything was great, good prices for beer and alcohol. Around 12:46AM I decided to play a classical song from one of my favorite classical artists "Ave Maria". Next thing that happens, one of the bartenders, male, decided to grab the remote and skip my "paid song"....Not coming back for sure. That male bartender seems to talk bad about customers. NEW CUSTOMERS DO NOT COME HERE!!! LOCAL, I UNDERSTAND WHY YOU ARE COMING HERE. The bartenders are excellent, and the beer selections are great. But, unfortunately, the DJ makes you feel unwelcome. I thought the place had karaoke (based on yelp) (and the bartenders did too), so I went to the DJ, and he said they were not doing karaoke because "not a lot of people signed up." So I said thank you and walked away. Later I noticed many people walking up to him, so I assumed people were signing up. When I spoke to him, he gave me a different story. "My machine is not working" again; I took it with a grain of salt and walked away. 2 beers later, I noticed more people congregating by him. This time he was taking requests. I wrote a song on a piece of paper and handed the paper to the DJ. While I was handing off the paper to him, what I can assume was a regular (all the bartenders and the DJ seemed to know this individual) yelled don't play his song. Not knowing what music I chose, it felt like the DJ followed orders. I was the second in line when the DJ was requested songs, and after a few songs, my song never played. I waited for a min (6 songs played) for my song, but unfortunately, I guess the DJ listened (to what I assumed was a regular) to the individual screaming not to play my song. If you are a regular of this place, I can see why you enjoy it. If you are a new customer, you will feel left out. I hope this helps. read more

So, this is a super divey karaoke bar. Great place for a karaoke night and cheaper cocktails! Quite small, but it is what it's it right? It's right off of Beach so the location only has backside parking off of an alley. You're not coming here for the ambiance, you're coming because you want to kill it on the karaoke stage/mic, have some drinks, and hit up the food truck down the street after. For me, those are such fun nights for my husband and I. Security at the front/back entrances, so make sure you have ID. Since parking is a bit scarce, carpool. Karaoke- the KJ here is serious about karaoke, but is also a great singer! Love that he will get down on a number different songs and genres in between singers!
