Amazing gem found by Yelp reviews and YES the seafood is so fresh it could still be swimming! We started with a dozen oysters on the half shell, Eastern Shore and yummy. Lip smacking great. Then Hubs had fish tacos while I had fish and chips. First time I didn't need malt vinegar for the fish which was a sea bass that was so fresh it flaked off my fork. Incredibly fantabulous food!

Fried scallops with fries! (Disclaimer: some fries were ate before picture was taken)

Stopped in for some seafood while on vacation and was not disappointed! The staff was friendly, and although I forgot their names I won't forget their smiling faces and kindness! Their food is made fresh daily and it truly shows. Something as generic as a chicken strip was made homemade and you could taste it in every bite! We had fried clams, seafood combination, fish, and coconut fish & shrimp all of which were delicious. Servings sizes* and quality are well worth the price. *picture does have fries missing from eating before pic was taken.

Scallops. Delicious with a light blackening spice but very sweet.

We found the Sunset Grill while visiting Norfolk. I've eaten seafood from all over the country and Canada. Hands down, Kathy (owner) and her team make the best seafood I've had in North America. The restaurant is a hidden gem. Do not miss your chance to have the fried oysters, tuna bites (OMG! phenomenal), and just about anything on their menu. We will be going back again and again. And. Again!

Best seafood in 757. I had stuffed soft shell and wife had crab cake. Brother and sis in law had salads and fried oysters. All was A 10 on a scale of 5. Eastern shore oysters were the best , juicy and salty, everything was so good we ordered more oysters and two more sofeshells , not stuffed this time. They were so big we almost couldnt eat them, but so good we forced ourselves. Ill finish as i started.. best seafood Must have closed does not answer phone email or messages, shame i really loved that place

Sunset Grill is the best seafood restaurant in the Tidewater area. Our favorite dish to order is the seafood platter. Its sharable for two people. Kathie and her staff are the best hospitable people. Very pleasant and you will feel at home when eat there.

OMGS!!! I FOUND THE HIDDEN SEAFOOD GEM OF NORFOLK!!! After a hour of searching for an open restaurant on Sunday to dine in at we happened apon Sunset Grill. Entered into a cute, clean dining area at met the owner/chef extraordinaire Cathy. We started with drinks and appetizer......let's start with the smoked oysters appetizer served over hot plate of melting brie with wine, garlic and fresh made tortilla chips; utter perfection of smokey, melting, crunchy goodness. Next Sunset Punch, mixed 4 rums with fruity juices and you have an amazing island paradise in a glass. We split the Fried Seafood Platter because it was HUGE; seabass, scallops, oysters, shrimp, soft shelled crab, clams and crab cake served over fries and a small cucumber salad. I usually avoid soft shelled crab, but this totally changes my mind. Everything was perfectly cooked, crispy and juicy. What are you waiting for.....GO ....NOW!!

I came here based off of the reviews - and wasn't disappointed greeted by Ms. Cathy and the bartender they accommodated us swiftly and got to cooking. The food was hot fresh & delicious. I'm glad I stopped here and will be back

I had a few allergy-related questions and was able to get answers quickly because the cashier checked with the kitchen. Unfortunately my questions were focused on dairy so we were surprised by the bacon on the beans and other meat (probably pork) under the collard greens. My husband doesn't eat pork so he ended up only eating the beef. The cashier said the order would only take about ten minutes so I enjoyed a quick drink at the bar while waiting. If we get a chance to return I'll probably get the fried green tomatoes and just beef brisket (no sides).

I do wish when it came to deserts that they had a menu for the items. The food was very decent for me to say. The calamari was pretty good when I put in the marinara sauce. The French dip was pretty bland however despite using the sauce. I found the moose chocolate cake very intresting and it goes well with the whipped cream. Postivies ( plus other thoughts) 1. To my surprise they had a board outside the door featuring weekly details. I did further research online and saw HH! I love love to try anyone's happy hour (HH) especially if food and drinks are offered. I'm thrilled to let you know this place has food and spirits, including: beer, wine and liquor! Yessss!! Reservations made and suggested. While we arrived at 4:00pm on a Saturday there was no wait but guests started to fill up the downstairs area quickly so to be safe make reservations. However the bar was wide open. Seated about 8. The space may sit 50 people comfortably including a full bar area. HH takes place 4 to 6pm, Wed thru Saturday I believe. Starting at 5pm you can order from the dinner menu. My husbae wanted dinner so we stayed until. He tried the shrimp burger with handcut fries. HH, we tried most of the food: Honey old bay wings Salmon bites Grilled shrimp Handcut fries Lemon drop Old fashioned First off, I love love handcut fries and Ordinaire yall made my tummy happy!! We ordered like 3 plates. Overload but totally worth every carb! Everything was good! Pack your patience because I believe everything is made to order. As a result your items may hit the table one entree at a time. IMO this was great pacing and gave us time to try and savor each appetizer without the temperature turning cold. My drinks including my husbae crown and sweet tea were on point. He wanted Sprite but it was unavailable. Nevertheless we will return soon! Parking wasn't an issue as we found free street parking steps from the restaurant. But Parking garages are nearby as well. Overall 10/10 Have fun and enjoy life :)

My wife and I took advantage of Norfolk's Restaurant Week to enjoy a romantic evening, coupled with great service from a very attentive waiter. $45 each for a 3-course meal in a intimate cozy dark setting with great jazz music in the background. 1st course, she had the marvelous She Crab Bisque, especially the hint of sherry. Perfect. I enjoyed the four Fried Oysters, Fried flawlessly without the bivalves becoming rubbery. 2nd course, my wife enjoyed the Peri-Peri Chicken Penne. The breast of chicken was moist throughout, not dry. The penne pasta with the Romesco Cream Sauce was very creamy and delicious says my better half. I tried the Fried Catfish. A bed of creamy Grits; then some Braised Collards stewed perfectly with a surprise - pieces of Ham Hock meat imbedded - on top of the Grits; then on the very top a perfectly fried huge piece of Catfish filet with Key Lime Remoulade sauce on the side. A pretty presentation. If you like Catfish, this is a wonderful entrée. It still amazes me how the food I grew up on as a son of the South - except for the remoulade - is now haute cuisine. I also ordered for dinner a Perfect Manhattan made with Maker's Mark. The bartender was spot-on, a great cocktail. My wife enjoyed a glass of crisp dry California Pinot Grigio with her meal. Our 3rd and final course was the creamy death-by-chocolate chocolate mousse for me, while she enjoyed the wild berry sorbet that was palate cleansing and delicious. By the way, the restaurant also has a Speakeasy type bar area downstairs. Our romantic evening went perfectly. Norfolk Seafood Company is one of my favorite places to dine in Norfolk.

First things first: the entire front-of-house staff was stunning. Everyone looked polished, well put together, and genuinely welcoming. For drinks, I ordered the Berry Bliss Mojito and the Blackberry Mule. The mojito was excellent, refreshing, balanced, and easily my favorite of the two. The Blackberry Mule leaned a little too sweet for my taste. One thing I really appreciated, though, is that they appear to take their cocktail program seriously. Their margarita is made the way I like to see it: tequila, Cointreau, and fresh lime, with any additional flavors complementing the drink instead of masking it with a bunch of cheap mixers. For food, I had the Chef's Bisque and the Oxtail Lasagna. Everything was outstanding. The lasagna isn't what you might expect. It isn't layered in the traditional way. Instead, it's made into pinwheel-style rolls, which was a nice presentation. The sauce absolutely stole the show. It was rich, flavorful, and tasted like someone in the kitchen genuinely cares about what they're serving. Joy was my server, and she truly lived up to her name. She was attentive, friendly, polite, and had a genuine smile the entire time. Empty dishes disappeared quickly without interrupting the meal, and the service felt effortless. A couple of things to know before you go: there's an automatic 20% gratuity added to every check, not just large parties. There's also a dress code, so I'd skip the sweatpants and distressed jeans. Lastly, this is an adults-only establishment, which I thought was a nice touch for anyone looking for a quieter dining experience. Overall, this was a fantastic experience.
