I was in Newmarket and wanted to grab some lunch. I did a quick search and found Sunset Grill. Sure, I just ate at one a couple of days ago. I love the French toast here so much that I wanted it again.
This Sunset Grill is next to a fish and chips place. I nearly changed my mind once I had parked, but decided to give the latter a visit some other day. It smelled so good, though!
I walked in and was immediately seated. I got the option of choosing where I wanted to sit. The table that I chose had some liquid on the table. The woman noticed it and quickly got that issue taken care of. Nice! She gave me a menu.
Staff here are friendly. There are mature compared to the other locations that I have visited. They don't come on as being fake, which I appreciated. They are also fairly quiet.
I ordered the French toast with a side order of bacon. I also got a Diet Coke.
I didn't get a glass with ice here with my drink. I suppose that you need to ask for it.
Moments later, my French toast and bacon came. Yay!
As expected, my French toast was delicious. Sunset Grill is consistent when it comes to making French toast. Love it!
My bacon came in interesting fragments. Although I'm not picky and there is no thou-shalt-get-five-long-intact-slices-of-bacon commandment, I felt like my crispy bacon had had enough and decided to self-destruct. The bacon was delicious, but I don't know if I truly got five slices. I didn't bother piecing everything together. I was hungry.
This place has the old-style maple syrup dispenser. Yep, I ended up with sticky fingers afterwards.
I noticed that all ketchup bottles around me had, at most, a quarter of ketchup left in them. Either folks in Newmarket love Heinz or this place hasn't stepped up its refilling program.
My server was friendly, although she told another one after handing me my food to "switch server names" on my bill. Um, okay. I didn't need to hear that.
Anyway, I got my bill and waited patiently at the counter to pay for my meal. I waited there for a good two minutes. Luckily, I wasn't in a rush.
The women's washroom is clean and compact. Unfortunately, I could hear a man and a woman talking. Walls are thin.
There is plenty of parking. This eatery is in a plaza.
