Coffee was good. Baristas are bubbly and friendly. The view is phenomenal. Indoor and outdoor seating. It's a good place to get some work done. The seats and tables need some upkeep, though. Great service, reasonable prices but highly mediocre coffee. We went in around 7 on a Sunday night and were impressed by how busy it was. The baristas were fast and friendly. Sunset has been one of my favorite coffee shops for a few years now, can't believe I am just now reviewing it. The shop has expanded a bunch so there is a lot of room to hang out and read, do homework, work on art, and drink coffee. The baristas are always so kind and the drinks are delicious! They have delicious chai and I am a huge fan of all their specialty drinks. My favorite is the Voldemort with almond milk blended. It's on the sweeter side but it's fantastic! They have games you can play and a beautiful view of the valley for you to look out at while hanging on the patio. read more

Douche bag central. Seriously came one evening and it was crawling with them. Aside from that, there are way too many smokers outside hogging the patio so that non-smokers are unable to enjoy it. Well, at least if you're like me and hate the smell of smoke. The crowd was so odd... Random girl in short dress asking people for a cigarette and offering to pay for it. White trash group playing cards talking about their sex lives (loudly might I add). Random guy watching a movie by himself? It was interesting. I didn't realize last time I came just how expensive their drinks are. I ordered a 16 oz. frozen caramel which was like $4.69, friend got a 16 oz. iced chair of the tiger, another like $4 something. Came to over $10 after tip for two drinks. I can eat a whole meal for $10. Some places meal for two for $10. The prices are absurd. Yes the staff is very friendly and it's a nice setting with the sunset, but man if I wanted to get ripped off I'd go to starbucks. Not sure if I'll come back. Time will tell... I decided to try this place while I was on a trip from Seattle for a few days. I've struggled to find decent coffee outside downtown SLC, but what a surprise. This is by far the best coffee in the burbs. In addition to great coffee they have an outstanding menu of tea and herbal infusions. The service was friendly and warm and my barista introduced herself to me and said she looked forward to me becoming a regular. Unfortunately I only had three days in town.... Despite being in a horrendously ugly strip mall, the interior is nice and there is a great patio with a view looking west over the valley. The community alone at Sunset is a reason to frequent. Expect warm welcomes and hugs once you have gone there a handful of times. They even have potluck Thanksgiving dinners. It is in a strange location, but like the name says, Sunset Coffee, the view from the huge deck is incredible. Babies, tweens, teens, meat heads, twenty somethings, students, grandparents, hippies, rockabilles, etc. all have a place at Sunset. The young, friendly staff loves to play their music loud, but that is the only complaint I have. read more

I've been coming here every few days for the past couple of weeks to study, and it's great! I'd come in to study for a few hours and it has everything. Cheap coffee, plenty of space to study, free wifi, outlets for my computer and phone, and a friendly staff. There are usually a lot of people hanging around outside, smoking, and playing their guitars. It seems like a place where regulars come just to hang out, and the vibe is great. Even though I don't go outside to hang out with the usuals, it is a great study space for me. It's never too crowded inside. One thing that I suggest is to bring your own bottle if you want to drink some water, or else they charge you for a cup of water. read more

I happen to stumble upon this place just as the sun was going down and was sold immediately. It's a laid back coffee place with a cool layout. Prices were decent. I constantly searched for a cafe opened later than 11 on a weekday and this is open till 1am everyday, i think later on weekends. However, this is hard to find. Perfect for students and insomniacs or both!! God the view is gorgeous! Patio is cool. It was hard to find a open table but that shows its popularity. Worst coffee joint in the Salt Lake area. Their coffee is terrible and, although I have always wanted it to be good and have gone back several times because it is close to my house, they have consistently proven me wrong. Everyone that works there looks high as hell and acts totally removed. They are more interested in their cigarette breaks than in being nice to customers. There is one super cute redheaded girl that I really like there, but apart from her, this place sucks. Sunset Coffee is very dirty too and has been being "remodeled" for months. One time, there was even a big pile of feces on the floor of the women's bathroom. The management here is either nonexistent or completely terrible. Don't go here unless you want to feel completely unwelcome and like you may walk out of there with a disease. read more

Their drinks are fantastic. I don't like the taste of coffee, but they have drinks that don't have coffee in them. My recommendation is the "Monroe" with strawberry and raspberry. That isn't what makes this shop great. Its the people and the environment it's relaxed and filled with friendly people. You can cone and relax, play a game, or have a conversation with someone. Cool location with a good selection of drinks. Hot chocolate and steamers are reasonably priced, the rest is pretty expensive. $5+ for a small drink. We went with a hot chocolate, dragon chai, and a fruity pebble rice crispy treat. The drinks were good, and the treat was amazing. The outdoor patio is nice though, the views are excellent, and they are open pretty late. They also have a pretty good selection of board games to play as well. I suspect the popularity of this place is due mainly to its long hours. They are open when most other places, restaurants and shops included, are closed. The coffee is fine, if inconsistently produced. My first visit was good, my second the espresso was definitively incorrectly pulled. The staff are friendly and welcoming. As a business traveler, I am always EXCITED when I can find a good local coffee shop or eatery. While driving to work this morning, I had planned to stop at Whole Foods for coffee (I'm anti-Starbucks). While en route I looked to my right and spotted a sign for "Sunset Coffee", so of course this made me happy. When I walked in I was immediately greeted by Shelby, who then also took my order. Open later than most. Wifi pw is written on a sort of inconspicuous chalkboard above the front area seating. I never noticed it but asked them about it one day and got educated. Drinks - they are good. Usually just go for tea, or iced coffee. Chai is fantastic and available decaf. Expansion is done. I really, really like this place. Right from the beginning I enjoyed the fact that there seemed to be a large variety of different kinds of people. It wasn't all your typical, hip looking white kid at every corner type of deal. It's quite spacious inside. We came on a Friday and every table was occupied. Clearly, they're doing something right. But what's best about this place, is first and foremost the amazing view. Who knew a strip mall coffee shop would win such praises? It looks totally uninspiring from street view, but trust me, it's worth a visit. Just be warned that the patio HAS been taken over by smokers. Being a smoker myself, this is not bothersome. However, it may be for you. Bonus points for the coffee actually being very good as well. Local shops usually are, but Sunset kind of went above the normal parameters. Lots of good speciality drinks, but even the pure black iced coffee I tried was delicious. (and reasonable price wise!) Definitely somewhere I recommend visiting if you are in the area, and a coffee lover. read more

BEST CHAI TEA LATTE I'VE EVER HAD!!!! That's saying a lot coming from me because I order them everywhere I go. I'm not a coffee drinker so tea is my thing. The Chai of Tiger latte I had was by far the most delicious one I've ever had. I want to go back and order another. I had mine with 2% milk but they had all the usual suspects and also the not so usual....soy. So to the review that said they didn't know what soy milk was there they obviously heard you and now have it on the menu. The view is to die for also. Even though it was mid-morning when I was there the sun was shining beautifully on the mountains. I can see why they've named this place Sunset Coffee because I can only imagine what it looks like at dusk. read more

Simple and sweet. Good utilization for a strip mall space. They've left it open and airy. Lots of seating and a central bar. But the best part about this spot is summer mornings with a view off the back porch of the entire valley! Pretty epic really. Sandy, UT: I don't like coffee. There, I said it. Thankfully there are a few amazing places like this that cater to the coffee-averse. I've been coming here off and on for the past couple years though today was the first time I've been back since they expanded. After I mentioned I don't like coffee and am not one for a lot of caffeine, the barista recommended a decaffeinated chai frozen drink thingy. It was flipping amazing and I practically chugged it on the spot. So yummy. I recommend coming here for the delicious drinks and nice baristas. That being said, going outside will likely be miserable unless you smoke - there is always a lingering cigarette smell outside. Even so, come here for the drinks and nice baristas. read more

So I'll start out by saying that this is a pretty cool spot if you're a college student and like chillin' with friends with a killer view. The coffee was good with a chill environment. My only complaint was the seating was a little uncomfortable and the bathrooms weren't the cleanest. But the view was amazing, especially at sunset. I would attend again if I was in the area again. I absolutely love their coffee, it is the best. And their dirty chai is absolutely amazing. The staff is always super friendly and laid back. Overall it is a very chill environment. It is a little more spendy but I will always pay a little more for better than Starbucks coffee! The only downside is they don't really care what goes on inside and outside the store. I try to avoid going there at night when there are crowds of people standing out front yelling and trying to talk to me with profound words. read more
