I absolutely love their coffee, it is the best. And their dirty chai is absolutely amazing. The staff is always super friendly and laid back. Overall it is a very chill environment. It is a little more spendy but I will always pay a little more for better than Starbucks coffee! The only downside is they don't really care what goes on inside and outside the store. I try to avoid going there at night when there are crowds of people standing out front yelling and trying to talk to me with profound words. read more

I wish I wasn't so full when I stopped here. Welcome to the coffee shop with a view!!! The place is large with indoor and outdoor terrace seating, both areas where you can get a great view of the mountains (try to go when it's not too foggy so you can appreciate SLC's scenery). The staff is friendly and there's a huge parking lot outside since the coffee shop is located at a corner of a plaza. The prices are fairly expensive in my opinion (a regular size chai was well over $5 and the large size was over $7). BUT the guy was right about them having some of the best chai ever. They get it packaged and shipped from a store in NYC I'm a powder form and it is fairly good (pretty sweet). This place is amazing! Always bustling, a good hole in the wall/ local feel. I've been here many times and never in all the commotion and craziness have they ever messed up a order. Which is more than I can say about our local bucks. The staff is amazing, personable, and super friendly. Their drink menu has variety and everything I've tried so far is great! I love a frozen honey badger or the London fog, both exceptionally good. They have outdoor and indoor seating, along with local art, jewelry, and I've even seen a open mic night at. This place is perfect to ya g out and watch the sunset, hence the name. But is also good for games, studying, or even a date. They are dog friendly which I appreciate greatly. The coffee here is definitely coffee. I haven't had an espresso drink that has wow'd me yet. The other drinks are really good though like the chai lattes or any of the iced lemonade/tea combos. I also really like when they have muffins in supply because I cant help but always getting one. I used to take a lot of first dates here because there's a good amount of unique sitting places. The view is always amazing, that's obviously why they are called Sunset coffee, because you get a great view of the sunset. However, the worst part about this place will always be when the teenagers hang out all over the place when school is out. There's smoking on the patio (a lot), as well as vaping and other suspicious smells. The teens are loud, and sometimes take all of the chairs. It wouldn't be such an annoyance if it didn't feel like an exclusive club, like if your a random customer who wants to sit outside on the patio your interrupting on their fun. Decent drinks get two stars, but their wifi can't handle their busy times, which is sad because they happen often. Their prices clearly leave enough room for overhead that could buy better equipment. They allow extremely loud and rowdy patrons to stay while other patrons are trying to study or talk to their companions. Not even a quiet warning in consideration of other patrons. Reading these reviews makes me upset. I have been to many local coffee shops but I find myself going to Sunset Coffee just about every night. The nice thing about sunset is that during the summer they don't close until 1 am. So on the nights you can't figure out what to do, they've got it covered. They have a welcoming staff of baristas that I have befriended very quickly. I am not a coffee lover and I can't have caffeine and they always makes something to die for. Usually all I say is "no caffeine" and they always come out with something very yummy. I was introduced to this place in high school when a friend of mine vigorously supported (stalked) a kid who occasionally played live music here. It brings back fond memories and still fulfills a coffee house void in my hometown. My inner food snob is so embarrassed that I love this place. Honestly, their coffee is just not that good. Stick with a hot latte and you'll get something drinkable. The thing about Sunset coffee is that it's sooo chill. I believe that it is owned by a church (?) or some other community group. It seems like everyone knows each other and the customers and staff are super super friendly. The crowd is very eclectic, high school to middle aged, kids, parents, nerds, alternative, SLC counter-culture and everything in-between. Don't go here for the coffee. Go to chill, spend awhile, enjoy the sunset. It won't disappoint. I absolutely love this place. I come here to study for all my tests and honestly I couldn't get through grad school without this place. Its open late, it has free wifi (tip: just go look at the router on the window for the password), it has outlets to charge all my equipment, the staff is nice, and the people that frequent are nice as well. It has an awesome view but the outside does consists f smokers (what do you expect at a coffee shop). Coffee is awesome as well, I always get the bob dylan either coffee or iced. Had a wonderful time here the staff was friendly and helped me pick out a delicious coffee. I got a thin mint flavored latte and it was fabulous a lot of choices so be prepared to be overwhelmed. The hot chocolate here was not good and the vibe was a little different than most coffee shops... It's louder than usual coffee shops too because I think more people come here to socialize than do homework since they have board games and they play non-study music... Sunset Coffee is the best thing since sliced bread. Usually I'm the type of person to stop anywhere that has caffeine, but I would go out of my way to stop here. The atmosphere is pleasant, with good music playing at just the right level, a great view off the back balcony, and really really really good coffee! My first time in there, I happened to mention it, and they gave me my drink for free. (Though I tipped and paid for my next two refills). Best atmosphere in Utah for the 'not-so-conservative" coffee drinker. My question to a local was "where can I go that has coffee and people that pretend like their working" her answer was Starbucks and I was pretty shocked.. there had to be something else..TaDa! Yuck! After reading all of the positive reviews, I decided to give this place a try. I'm so sorry I did. The espresso is way over roasted and so bitter! Even all the milk in my latte couldn't mask the bitterness. My drink tastes like it was filtered through an ashtray and it's making my stomach turn.
