Really? Costco? That's where you buy coffee and muffins for this kind of café? You've got to be kidding! Salt Lake area has some wonderful local roasters. Why, would they use Costco except it is cheap? We stopped by here on a Saturday because someone had said they had heard it was good. Well, we got two muffins - both from Costco, a latte, and a drip coffee (for $10). Everything was Costco! I could have had better coffee and muffins at home! And it was dirty! Not going there again. I must say though that they do have a beautiful view over looking the mountains but it seemed like the only purpose for the patio was to smoke. read more

I dont like this place at all. Its too loud and too clique for me. They skimp on their espresso and the staff is not that nice. If you are under 25, this place is great for you. If you like watered down, lukewarm coffee, this is your spot. If you like rude staff and a high school atmosphere, then come here. This place is not for me or any other sensible adult. read more

Absolutely love coming here!! Everyone is so nice and it's a really chill place. My favorite drink is the Voldemort! Me and my friends come here all the time and I've gone out of my way just to come here and get the Voldemort especially if I'm having a bad day it helps my mood and make me happy. read more

Came here to study. The wifi was so spotty and I had to reconnect to it about 20 times, which made trying to do my homework nearly impossible. The coffee was okay, but nothing spectacular. The entire building smelled like cigarettes because people kept coming in and out from the patio. If the wifi was better it would be a good place to study as there are plenty of tables. However, there are hardly any outlets, so good luck finding an open table with one nearby. I don't think I'll be back again. read more

Great place for coffee! If you're looking for pastries or other edibles to accompany, I wouldn't recommend it. I ordered the spiced chai with almond milk, shot of espresso and white chocolate. VERY tasty! I give it 4 stars because of the lack of options for eats, and the tables/chairs weren't the nicest. If they expanded their pastry menu and spruced up the furniture a bit, it would be a 5 star rating for sure. read more

I walked into Sunset today looking like the biggest bum ever and I actually received excellent service from the barista!! What a surprise to not for once be judged by appearance!! (I feel like I usually get the worst service, even though I tip well and am cordial with people. I always feel like I get profiled right away due to my messy hair and bum like, pajama attire but not today! Today I actually received excellent service!!!) l got a frozen caramel frappe type drink and it was ahhmazing! I go into this place here and there and I notice that the staff is professional and polite, whether I buy anything or not. I wish I could remember the mans name who helped me but sadly I cannot. I was taken back at how kind he was right off the bat, and not in a fake way. I find people (and businesses) that will provide good service, even when you walk in looking your worst, are few and far between. That and the yummy drink are why I gave this place 5 stars. Truly my experience there made my day just a little better. Thanks to the kick ass barista this morning for his professionalism, kindness, and just overall non judgement of me, I truly felt a little lift in my step when I walked out of there today. I wish there were more places and employees who provided the kind of customer service I received at Sunset Coffee today. read more

This is the perfect hang out for high school and college students. Amazing view, service, and drinks. I always feel really welcomed here. Delicious!! I always get the Stevie Wonder I highly recommend it. Atmosphere is great, and there's always a good vibe. Board games are at your leisure and the view is breath taking. Been coming here since my friend introduced me to the place a couple of years ago. It is a great place to go to get away from the world for a while. Been coming here to relax, study for tests, to hang with friends, etc. The place just went through a remodel and they look better than ever. They even added a conference room, I love this in case I have a group project or something to do. The coffee is good, although it can be a little expensive, depending on the drink you are getting. However, it is a local site, so spending money here your are keeping the money in the community. The place can be really crowed during the weekend nights. If you are not a fan of what the public considers "Hipsters" this might not be the place for you. There are a lot of these types of people but they mostly stay on the porch and smoke. There is a lot of smokers here, so again if your not one for smokers then this is not the place for you. The place is very cozy, the employees are always very nice and kind to everyone. They like to go by the normal sizes when you order, small, mediums, large. No Starbucks lingo here, however, they don't care if you accidentally use the lingo. I would give this place more than 5 stars if I could, it is one of the best local coffee places I have been too in Salt Lake City. read more

I visit south of Salt Lake City a few times a year and try local coffee places and this is my favorite latte of all the places I've visited. The coffee has flavor and doesn't have that gritty aftertaste of some other places. I never add flavorings to better gauge the coffee flavor. read more

This place is horrible! When you first walk in it seems like a nice coffee spot to relax or do work and the baristas seem very friendly when your ordering your drink. However, they don't have a clue what soy milk is apparently!! I'm not sure if it was them being funny and thinking people can't taste the difference between soy and regular or if they truely weren't paying attention to what they were doing but if you have a dairy allergy it makes a big difference!! I guess the fact that I have run restaurants and poured espresso drinks for over 10 years my expectations may be a little higher than most. I was excited to see a non-Starbucks coffee shop when I entered Sunset Coffee. The gal behind the counter claimed many years of barista experience but my Vanilla Latte was so sweet, I could barely drink it. I decided to try it out a second time and met my friend there. Seeing it was the same gal, I asked for half the syrup. My friend decided to go with a regular vanilla latte. Mine was fine, hers was way to sweet. We also noticed that the place seemed dirty. The front of the counter was noticeably dirty as if no one ever wiped it down. Although the gal was friendly enough and my drink was better the second time around, I felt that they only deserved an average rating. read more
