I was really excited about trying this place and wanted to love it but, I just can't. The overwhelming smell of cigarette smoke when you walk in is disgusting. No one greeted us when we walked in, I had to ask for menus and then we were seated. The food came out fast but I am confident it was reheated in the microwave by the sound of that melodious beeping coming from the kitchen...and food to follow like ten minutes later. The hummus was weirdly chunky? Not chickpea chunky but maybe defrosted, I'm not sure. The cabbage rolls were really bland and the gyro was dry as a covered bridge as my grandmother would say. The smoke continued to creep into the restaurant while we ate and we sat way in the back! I can't imagine having sat through that smell if we had been up closer to the doors. It wasn't the worst food but being surrounded by cigarette smoke billowing in through the doors is enough to not make me go back to round two. Sorry sunset cafe but the sun may be setting on you soon if you don't resolve some of these issues. read more

Excellent spot right off of 405 in Renton and then just a block to get back on. Had the pork leg with sourkraut and polenta. All great but the sourkraut was ridiculously good. Guy there said they grow it and make it themselves. Very clean and you can see the kitchen when you come in. Well worth skipping the normal chain restaurants and taking a break to get basically a home cooked Romanian meal. read more

I had never been to a Romanian restaurant and we were in the area so we thought we'd try it out. My friend said that when he got there the owner did not greet him but told him that there were no toilets for public use and that he should go to 7-11 for that. Kind of odd that a business would presume that one did not come in to actually buy anything therein. They don't provide glasses of water which is kind of annoying. The food is expensive for what it is. I had sausages and beans with bread and pickles which was good but expensive for $14. My wife had a gyro platter but the meat was over cooked and crispy and the hummus didn't have acid or tahini. My friends sausages were ok but under salted. The schnitzel was very good. The crepes were good. Some annoyances here is that they don't bring everyone a full set of silverware and you have to keep asking if you want a fork or a spoon or something. I feel it's not bad but the prices are way too high for what is offered. read more

Great spot for something different. Went there with family last night and had the schnitzel, eggplant dip, posole with feta and the cabbage rolls. They were all very nice, especially the eggplant which was just slightly smokey and had lots of onion. Yummy! Staff were very friendly and attentive. It did take quite a while to get the bill, but that may have been a cultural thing? We Americans are so used to the eat and run life but some places and people would consider it rude to rush you out the door. I'll give them the benefit of the doubt and assume that was the case here. We plan on going back and trying some of the gyro and shawarma to see how theirs compares to a typical Middle Eastern/Greek version. read more

One of those days when I really felt like a gyro and I needed a place nearby and I saw the spot and for the price it's a good portion. The gyro had good portion of meat lots of veggies(lettuce tomato pickle, onion) they use hummus and tazaki sauce and they had lots of fresh feta cheese. I had to order fries on the side and I got pineapple Fanta the only problem I found was the pita bread broke it was kind of soft but not very strong. Everything was delicious! We had the gyro platter, baklava, and crepes. All of these were good and it was enough food for 2 people. The fries i would've lived without but the other stuff was really good. The service was ok. If you want a nice blend of Middle Eastern, Turkish, Romanian mix you won't be disappointed. The food is cooked fresh and is easy on the palate. Don't plan to go to this place for dinner, or on weekends. This is the third time we drove here, 40+ minutes one way, after calling to confirm in advance only to be turned away at the door well before closing time. The excuse was pretty lame too, the cook is sick and needs to go to hospital... But anyway, the other two times we stopped by and it was either closed for private parties or just closed for vacation and that is not advertised anywhere but Facebook which I don't use. Pretty disappointing and needless to say this is the last time we're going there. The staff is pretty rude in person or on the phone. I'm not sure how they're even in the restaurant business. Good restaurant, I visited recently the food is cooked by Romanian cooks and is specific to the region from which they came from. As a native Romanian I recognize the quality but is not really matching with what I grew up with during my childhood - the food is however pretty good. The only reason why I gave it three stars is the gypsy music that is played in the restaurant which to most Romanian people is very offensive for various reasons - one most important one being that is not representing the Romanian culture at all and it creates confusion to the customers who came to experience some Romanian authenticity. read more

This is the first place where I went there due to a good Yelp review (4 stars or more) and was disappointed. Got their Chicken Shawarma wrap with high expectations- I LOVE Shawarma- but they put french fries in it. Totally ruined the better aspects of the shawarma. I love potatoes but NOT with Shawarma. I'm a huge fan of sarmale (cabbage rolls), and the thought of getting them at a time other than Christmas was very appealing. So my husband and I decided to check it out. So glad we did! I think all three plates ordered were bland, and overpriced. The spaghetti was not very good, it was a blob of meat on top of overcooked pasta, not really a sauce. The chicken shawarma, was really bland. The chicken was overcooked and tasted old. The pita was not soft at all. I would not recommend it. Finally I ordered the fish cutlet with fries. They brought it out with bbq sauce drizzled all over it, and I returned it. They remade the fish without bbq sauce. The fish was average. They also do not offer tartar sauce for the fish These three dishes were about 40 dollars with three drinks and tip. Trying to communicate with the staff was awkward.
