    Christmas window
    Stephen C.

Drive by after dark, around Christmas, they always do real nice decorations for their windows at Christmas. They have a Yelp deal, $20 certificate for $10. If you sign up on their website for their email list they send 20% coupons each month. If you shop on-line they have a 10% off code posted. This is how the store describes themselves and I agree, " A funky, fun, gifty hardware store". It is a neat little store with very friendly employees. Nice selection of home and kitchen stuff and a nice little hardware section. If your in the area and have a few minutes to kill, it is worth stopping by and taking a browse.

The before of my once beautiful knife

Had bad experience with getting my knife sharpened here, DO NOT take any knifes you really care about here. Brought in a $500 Rick Hinderer knife in to get sharpened before a hunting trip a little last second. Meet the guy who will sharpen my knife and he seems to know what he's talking about, very nice guy, great customer service. Assured me my knife would be sharp, I call and ask the next day if I can pick it up because I was nearby, and they said they'd do it then and it should only take a few minutes. It certainly seemed like a rushed job. They ruined the matte finish on the upper of the knife, and when doing the paper cut test, it can't make a clean cut, demonstrating the lack of sharpness of the knife, all they did was polish the wrong parts of my knife and give it to me dull.

Upon arrival to the store, I was greeted warmly by Phillip, who was professional, knowledgeable, helpful, patient and cordially responsive to a multitude of questions! I was initially there to conduct comparison shopping at the time; however, the availability and competitive pricing of products (e.g., cabinetry, quartz countertops & sinks) prompted me to go ahead and initiate an order with Phillip for purchase and installation accordingly. I especially liked having the opportunity to raise the height of the countertop backsplash from 4" to 5" and to order custom-made cabinets for the bathrooms if I so desired! The project from start to finish took approximately one month, and Phillip was diligent about providing intermittent updates. The installers, Jesse and Juan, were timely, organized, respectful of the property and noticeably competent. I appreciated the fact that NGKB owner, Allen--who also served as the project manager--took the time to QC the installation upon completion! A special shout out goes to one of the contracted plumbers, Beto, who went above and beyond by providing a high level of service and expending the quality time to ensure that everything was functional and operational! So far, so good! I plan to return to NGKB for future kitchen or bathroom remodeling endeavors!

Five stars for Jim (the person)!…read more Great work, arrived on time, very very friendly, and was here to do the right thing - get our water softener back to working. Jim had all the right equipment, knew his Rainsoft systems very well. His first step was to verify the water was not softened. (It wasn't.) He pulled out his test kit - verified we had a 32-grain water hardness. Previous testing indicated 35 grains of "hardness". (Here in the Texas Hill Country - we have wells and aquifer-fed water. Lots of dissolved solids - and it kills our appliances over time....) Jim verified - yes - hard water. Then he set about fixing our old (but lifetime-guaranteed!) Rainsoft water softener. He had all the parts and disassembled/re-assembled the controlling mechanism quickly. Not a trivial fix at all - but he did it really fast - with a full explanation along the way. Jim is super-enthusiastic, loves his job, loves his company, and loves the Rainsoft product. His humor and light touch are infectious. (Heck - I have him a totally-cool "Man Hug" before he headed out.) Now the bad news - Rainsoft would love it if we would upgrade our water softener mechanism to the latest/swooshiest model. WE WOULD LOVE TO UPGRADE TOO! But their standard pricing is extremely high - so it's a question of how much extra do we want to spend for soft water? And the current unit has that lifetime guarantee - so it's still easier/cheaper to keep it crutching along. Over the past 18 years, we have sent many neighbors and friends to Rainsoft (in Bulverde, Boerne, and from work/school). But with "upgrade pricing" as high as it is - I'm not sure we can recommend them long-term. JDMc

Sweetwater installed the system 5 years ago and it has never properly worked for any kind of longevity. Sweetwater will then charge you $300+ plus to come out and "fix it" then proceed to blame the customer for not having their technician over more often. I'm not spending my hard earned money on having to call a technician out every 3 months to fix the water softener. At some point we hoped Sweetwater would take accountability for their worthless system but unfortunately we were told the system is working "just fine". If you choose Sweetwater these are the results you will get.

If you all see my last review, I first met Obed four years ago and hired him to renovate our bathroom. Since then, my husband and I have hired Obed and his team for multiple projects ranging from kitchen renovations, more bathroom renovations and to renovate an entire property. What makes Obed different form all the other contractors? He is a perfectionist! Obed will not finish a job until is perfectly done to the highest standard. In past projects I've thought everything is finished and he will point out all the minor and tiny details that he still needs to complete to make sure the project is done right. In terms of pricing, he offers some very competitive prices and it is worth the price. He is not the cheapest contractor out there but also not the most expensive. You will get the quality that you are paying for and will noticed the difference when you compare him to other contractors. Give Obed and his team a call during your next home project and I can assure you, you won't be disappointed!

The first time he called, my husband spoke to a guy who said they needed to see the key first to see if they could do it. Fair enough, but they could have looked the key up first on Google or something. My husband forgot to ask how much it would cost IF they could do it, so he called back. A woman took his call and was short with him, as if she didn't want to be bothered. She snapped, "Oh no - we can't do that!" My husband told her he just talked to a man who told him to bring it down. So then she said "Oh, okay. $2 or $3." When he arrived and handed them the key, she took one look at it and "No we can't do that!" She was very abrupt. We would have shopped a bit for other things, we got the clear impression that our business wasn't wanted. For anything. They were not busy at all. I can understand that they couldn't make the key, but a little more kindness and perhaps some initiative to find out exactly what kind of key we needed would have gone a long way. Since they make keys, and are no doubt familiar with modern fob type car keys, a little engagement of the gray matter would have saved everyone a big hassle.
