I had such a good interaction with Sunset and Co., despite not keeping what I purchased. I live in Oregon and bought some beautiful bowls from their website. Unfortunately, I didn't read carefully and the bowls were not microwave safe. My kids are not old enough to differentiate which bowls can and cannot go in the microwave, so I returned them. My mother has been in the hospital so I just chucked the bowls in a box with no... anything---not even a note or my name or the order number or anything, and Sunset & Co. immediately refunded my purchase upon their arrival and notified me of it by email while I was away helping my mother. I am so impressed by their customer service when I was quite the terrible customer. I'll keep watching their website and am eager to try again to find something delightful from this shop! read more

This store has some of the prettiest, most unique stuff I've ever seen. They have a little bit of everything: plates, cups, hardware, tools, grills, pool stuff, women's clothes, jewelry, snacks, you name it, they probably have it. Favorite thing in there to me was the clear bags with the interchangeable straps. It was about $80 for the bag, $80 for the straps which isn't too bad considering most designer handbags are more expensive than that. I loved so many things in this place but holy cow.. the prices. I get that things are unique but I still can not believe that a headband was $150 when I've seen one that looked just like that at Target. I personally would never shop here again just because it is way out of budget for me but if I had money to waste, I'd shop here in a heart beat. This is the classiest hardware store I've ever been in! They might not have that toilet flange or PVC pipe that you need, but their hammers are made of pure silver and mahogany. This isn't really a place I'd go to do any serious home repairs. Their selection of anything repair-like is fairly limited, instead their selections are more for an upgrade. You might come in for a new drill bit, and leave with a coffee table book on Veuve Cliquot Champagne. I enjoy their selection of Christmas stuff- they always do a great job of imaginative and colorful ornaments that they put in their window displays. This place is the place to go if you need to get a new grill- they've got an impressive selection and all the accessories you could think of to go with the barbecue. When I went, they were showing off how one of their Traeger Grills works with a rack of ribs- that'll get my attention! The clerks are attentive, and they do a good job of making the space inviting and cool to look at. It's a great place to get a gift for someone on you Christmas list. Parking is easy- this place is located in the Sunset Ridge Shopping Center, an historic shopping center in Alamo Heights. If you need real hardware stuff, you're better off elsewhere- this really isn't the point of this place Don't go looking for specialized tools or equipment. read more

Super personable, and you can tell he had a passion for carrying three highest quality and most popular items. This was the ONLY place in our around San Antonio that carries Felco hand pruners. It provides a taste of the old Scrivener's, with a variety of hardware, gifts, clothing, etc. The service is personal and friendly. While it does attract The Alamo Heights/Terrell Hills Crowd, you will see a variety of customers. I went to the store to return the gift that was purchased. I have the receipt and it it was one day over the 30 days I said I don't want money. Can I just use credit because this is not my style. The attendant s refused to help in anyway possible. I wanted to clarify the policy She was very rude to me and spoke very ugly to me in front of other customers. I was told that " people like me do not usually shop here". I was then told that if I didn't like this policy that I didn't need to shop here and I could exit the store. I just looked at her and I said thank you so much and I left. I don't know it's because I am a Latina and I that is why I was completely ignored, or if the person was just in a bad mood, however, I can tell you I will not recommend this store, and I will never go to this store again read more

Like many people, during quarantine I have been working on many home improvement and DIY projects. One of my projects was to upgrade a pallet I found and make it a key/hat/mask/leash holder. To do this I needed some drawer handles to act as my hooks. I reached out to a friend who suggested I check out Sunset Hardware! I was super impressed with the variety of products offered at Sunset. Home decor, cooking, BBQ, lighting, plumbing, kitchen, kids toys, you name it, Sunset has it. In simplest terms, it's a fancy ACE Hardware. Unfortunately even with all of that variety, the many drawer handles Sunset had in stock did not match my vision for my project. Additionally, the prices were a tad higher than I was anticipating, so I did not purchase anything at that time. But I definitely made a list of what I need for my next projects and which kitchen supplies I want and made a birthday wish list. read more

I've been coming to Sunset Ridge several years now and it's a friendly, reliable and well laid out store. They have everything you need and if they don't have it in stock, will order it. The employees are friendly and helpful and the suggestions/advice provided is always solid. Drive by after dark, around Christmas, they always do real nice decorations for their windows at Christmas. They have a Yelp deal, $20 certificate for $10. If you sign up on their website for their email list they send 20% coupons each month. If you shop on-line they have a 10% off code posted. This is how the store describes themselves and I agree, " A funky, fun, gifty hardware store". It is a neat little store with very friendly employees. Had bad experience with getting my knife sharpened here, DO NOT take any knifes you really care about here. Brought in a $500 Rick Hinderer knife in to get sharpened before a hunting trip a little last second. Meet the guy who will sharpen my knife and he seems to know what he's talking about, very nice guy, great customer service. Assured me my knife would be sharp, I call and ask the next day if I can pick it up because I was nearby, and they said they'd do it then and it should only take a few minutes. It certainly seemed like a rushed job. They ruined the matte finish on the upper of the knife, and when doing the paper cut test, it can't make a clean cut, demonstrating the lack of sharpness of the knife, all they did was polish the wrong parts of my knife and give it to me dull. read more

I've been looking for a good place to sharpen my knives here in SA as for the past year, I've been driving all the way to Austin to get this service done. After weeks of trying to get in touch with several local businesses, I finally went to Sunset Ridge and I'm so glad I did!! The store is located in the Sunset Ridge strip mall in Terrell Heights. It was easy to find and is super cute inside! It's has lots of things a hardware store should but also lots of other cool stuff like induction burners and designer candles. But I digress... I brought my 7 knives (various sizes) on a Wednesday afternoon and they were ready in less than 24 hours! Not only was the customer service pleasurable but the price was right and my knives are sharp as hell!! I will be definitely be going back to this business in the future. read more

I dropped in here one day just to see what it was about. Cute place that seems to be a cross between Lowes, Bed Bath & Beyond, and Walmart... only better, of course. I browsed the aisles and enjoyed looking more closely at some of the unique gift ideas. It's nice to see a local business survive the corporate takeovers we've seen over the last few years. On a more tragic note. I caught the employees eyeballing me as if I was going to shoplift. I guess I'm not their standard clientele and probably do fit the profile of a shoplifter, but anybody that has experienced those glares probably understands why I will not be returning. Coming to this store always makes me happy. It's a great local shop, offering not only basic hardware needs but fun gifts and quirky cards. I feel at-home here, probably because every time I walk in I'm greeted by a grandfatherly character who welcomes me and offers to help me find whatever I'm looking for. All their employees are friendly and ready to assist, but not pushy. They have a good selection of household needs and normally have what I'm looking for. The gift section is eclectic and pretty entertaining to browse through, though pricing can be higher than I would normally consider paying for some items. I love their greeting cards. To top it off, they're an ACE hardware store which I'm always happy to support as my grandfather owned and operated one of the originals in the Chicago area for over 65 years. We went to this place to purchase Benjamin Moore paint and it was one of the only few places that were open on a Sunday that sold this paint. The shop was small, cute and had so many other things there all really great quality!
