I used Sarah's Tailors to hem a pair of dress pants and the alteration was decent. Then I bought a…read morenew blazer, a nice, all-wool, expensive jacket, and took it in to ask her to shorten my sleeves. The jacket had beautiful hand stitching, including faux hand-stitched buttonholes on the sleeves. She told me she could only shorten my sleeves a certain amount (about a quarter to a half inch) because of the buttons (i.e. to leave enough material between the 3 buttons and the hem of the sleeves). I agreed, as this meant the sleeves would be shortened without disturbing the buttons or the hand stitching. Well, when I picked the jacket up, she had re-set the buttons, removed ALL of the hand stitching AND left picks in the fabric all along the area around the buttons from removing the stitching!! She could have shortened the sleeves more if I had known, or wanted her to, take it all apart and move the buttons. I was extremely disappointed, furious, actually, because all she would have had to do was call me and ask me about removing the stitching. One of the sleeve's row of buttons are not even straight in a row, they are crooked. All of this occurred after spending nearly $50 for the alteration to an already-expensive jacket. When I spoke to her about it, she said 'I made a mistake'. Then she went to get her husband from the back of the store and we went through the situation again. He told me I HAD MADE A MISTAKE by not 'asking her about the buttons'!! This was MY FAULT, according to him, as well as hers!!! He offered to 'try to hand stitch' the threading that was removed but I was too concerned about the jacket looking even worse and then needing to remove stitching in the same spots that already had damaged, picked fabric. They snippily took a $50 bill out of the register and handed it to me and said "Keep the change!" If you have nice clothes, if you want to be treated with respect, do NOT go to this tailor.

Last time I…read morewalked into their shop, I brought in a garment that needed a simple stitch repair along with a pair of pants which needed the length brought up. I handed the woman my repair alteration before stepping into the fitting room to put the pants on so they could mark them. I fully expected to leave the repair alteration with them for a few days along with the pants, but I was pleasantly surprised when I stepped back out of the fitting room area because the woman handed me back my garment with the stitch repair completed & did not charge me for it. I've also had more complicated alterations done to a wool coat & trust them with my garments. I also appreciate their follow up to make sure that their tailoring was done to my satisfaction after I've taken them home.

The next time I need an alteration, I WILL give Red Carpet Tailor ago! I walked into Red Carpet Tailor on Douglas Monday morning needing a simple side slit extension. The lady behind the counter was very nice. However, I am very shocked at the price tag for this alteration. Literally, extending an already existing slit in a Chef coat by 3" on each side should not cost $50.16! I could understand if I was needing same day service, but I asked to pick it up in 4 days. To add insult to injury, the coat wasn't even steamed for the price paid. Disappointed

I've heard better things than I experienced…read more Two sport coats were supposed to be done on the 15th. I gave them extra time and showed up on the 18th. It wasn't ready so they said come on the 20th. I showed up on the 22nd and both of may coats were literally laying on the floor but no work was done. I don't really care that much about the delay cuz I was told "He's the best!" But then seeing to coats on the floors and not even touched, I was a little annoyed. Then they told me to come back in a few hours ...that was even more annoying knowing this project was only an hour or two of work. I'll probably stop by tomorrow (3rd) and see how we're doing. I'm guessing they are done and the third date is the charm. Honestly if this was my business, I'd give the service without charge...I'm not looking for that, but that is the right thing to do. I run a business so I know "stuff" happens but this type of performance can kill a reputation! Let's see how tomorrow goes.
