Jo's Tailor saved the day for my wedding! I purchased a wedding dress in early October for my wedding in May. The place I bought my wedding dress from was only able to give me my dress 3 weeks before my big day (which was also out of town...). I needed to get my dress tailored and get a bustle put on the dress QUICKLY. I went into Jo's Tailor and they said it wouldn't be a problem at all. I tried on the dress in the fitting room and they took the measurements. Initially they said they wanted to do second fitting (which I found out is normal for a wedding dress) and finish the bustle after the second fitting. I was nervous about the timeline, but agreed because the tailoring was the most important part. A week later I came back in to try the dress on. I was SO HAPPY when it fit perfectly, looked beautiful AND they had completed the bustle. I was able to take my wedding dress home that day! All of this for an extremely reasonable price and completed perfectly in a rush! The cherry on top? The couple who runs the location are SO sweet and nice. I paid $650 for a seamstress to ruin my dress and I frantically called my mother-in-law, who thankfully suggested Jo's Taylor. I thought that I was going to have to buy an entirely new wedding dress because we were leaving the next day to go to Florida, and my wedding dress was ruined by the previous tailor. Not only did they see me on a Saturday at noon, but they fixed my dress for an extremely reasonable price. They also took out the mascara stains that I cried on it from being so upset from the woman who had ruined my dress. They made my dress not only wearable for my day, but they stayed open late to fix my dress, and for me to try it on and make sure I was happy. I really wish I would've gone here in the first place. This review is so long overdue and I hope that the people at Jo's tailor know I appreciate and love them for everything they did to make my day special. Do not bring your wedding dress here. We took my daughters' wedding gown here and it was not hemmed properly. She had several layers of tuul and we were assured when we dropped off that they would be able to do it. When we picked it up she kept tripping over it and they ASSURED us all we need was to add a petticoat. So we paid and left with the dress. That did NOT work. We ended up having to take to a different tailor. We spent several hundreds more than we should have, not to mention the stress it caused. I stumbled upon Jo's Tailor by way of driving by multiple times as I ran errands for my Mom during my stay to assist her through some medical moments... (I live in NYC) After experiencing really poor service at a tailor down the road from Jo's Tailor - and living in New York, but in Texas temporarily to help Mom, I was apprehensive to have more items tailored and was going to wait until my return back to NYC to get the other items altered/tailored that I needed. Alas, I took "one last chance" and AM SO HAPPY THAT I DID! Here's why I would encourage you and highly recommend bringing your items to Jo's Tailoring: 1. Clean, organized and spacious shop! May sound funny - but NOTHING gets me more worked up than a small, cluttered, HOT space to try on clothing where I'm sweating and dripping trying to stand there getting pinned - feeling all sorts of uncomfortable. So this is a win-space for me. 2. They listened to EXACTLY what I wanted - offered "another suggestion" to my requests that made more sense than what I was requesting - and then executed the tailoring and alteration DELIVERING ON EXACTLY what I was trying to communicate on how I wanted the 4 items to fit. 3. Offered "pricing options" alongside "alteration/tailoring options". As a hairstylist, I like to give my guests "options" so that they feel comfortable within their budgets and also feel taken care of and that they were able to get the results they wanted within the budget that is most comfortable to them. I had no clue that this very mindful sensitivity to all of our respected budgets could even be an option at a tailor. Specifically I had two pair of joggers that I needed altered and my requests of alterations would a) be very timely b) be very labor intensive c) would have a reflective price of said time and labor (totally respect that!) The team at Jo's gave me that option, and then suggested a few more "options" of possibility with some other pricing points. Well, ding ding ding! Option "B" at half the price was actually what I was desiring - got them both tailored and ended up snapping the pics of me in their fitting room with them after trying them on because I was so THRILLED with how they turned out. 4. KIND, HAPPY HUMANS - when you come in for your alterations - you'll not be able to not smile back at the super lovely team. Great people! Great work! Moral of the story (and btw, I've NEVER written a review of length for anything before ... so consider that in this review. ) I'm a very satisfied customer, and will probably be flying back to Texas with all of my alterations every time I come back to visit Mom. Do not go here for any formal wear!!! A specially any brides out there please! They ruined my $4000 wedding dress a week before my wedding!!!! I don't know what I'm going to do.... I bought a full lace mermaid dress. Not only did they cut my dress too short, but they cut off the bottom lace that had scalps and a beautiful design about an 1.5 above the lining.... So my lace was cut shorter then my lining in the front!! I cried and asked to have the rest of the lace to try and fix it, but they had thrown it away!!! It was so much fabric gone!!! I will have to buy new shoes which will have to be flats and I'm already short. I didn't want to wear flats on my wedding day, but that will the only way the dress wouldn't show my whole foot once we get the lining even out at another tailor. They also made my straps too tight and instead of making them one strap, they just doubled the straps after cutting them and now they are very thick in the back. The took in my hips and made them too tight and actually uneven, also didn't do anything to the lining around my hips so it know bunches bad because they is more lining then lace. I was so upset. I tried to point out all the problems and they told me I was wrong and that's how it was supposed to be... (side note I took it to another tailor and they couldn't believe the mistakes they made and didn't know if she can fix it!! I only have a week now, and will be having to be spending almost a grand to fix the mistakes that they can. Some things they did are unfixable and will have to live with, hoping no one notices but I know they are their and I am so upset I can't even express in words I've been crying the past two days........) They kept begging me to let them fixed it but I was so incredibly upset that I told them not to touch my dress anymore and that we were leaving to go somewhere else to try and fix it. They even tried to beg my mom and little sister while I was getting undressed. I had to yell out to them to stop talking to my family I already told them no. They continue to begged and try and get me to give the dress back!! They told me they were going to iron the lace and it will fix EVERYTHING!! I said no again and then they said they were going to "stretch the fabric....." Wtf!!!! They got my phone number and have continue to beg me to come back and they can fix it!!!! I had to tell them to stop contacting me 2 times now... Please save yourself the pain my family and I are in right now. Being new to Texas, I reviewed many places before choosing Jo's Tailor. I'm from the Grand Prairie area so I drove a bit out of the way based on their reviews. Last week, I took in my bridesmaid's dress to get altered. They finished within a week (the wedding is in 3-4 weeks)! I needed to get the sides taken in (a LOT!!) and was nervous that it would be expensive based on previous experiences. They charged me about $40 to take-in the dress and they did an amazing job! After getting altered, I felt more confident in my dress. The whole family is very nice and welcoming. They'll listen and ask what specifically you want or they will suggest what looks best! Their store is very clean and bright which I love! After my great experience, I brought back two causal dresses to get altered. I'm super excited to see how they'll turn out! I should have started the project here! Here's the kicker. I needed this dress for an out of town wedding. I needed the design and all alterations to be complete in 3 days. There is no need for semantics or a backstory when someone is trying to shaft you! Anyone who has been here you got soaked, anyone who plans on coming here you will be soaked. I am so thankful for discovering this place after my wife had a horrible experience with another tailor (she went with convenience and didn't do her due diligence). I had two requests for this tailor: 1. Repair a hole in my favorite bespoke suit made in HK 2. tailor an off-the-rack (cheap) suit like my bespoke suit as a replacement if #1 can't be repaired. What I got back was astonishing: 1. The hole was patched with original material creatively removed somewhere from the jacket itself where I still haven't been able to identify the spot. Pretty amazing job in my opinion! 2. They tailor made my cheap off-the-rack suit to fit and look exactly like the suit that I brought in for repair. Now I have a second bespoke suit for a fraction of the price! I am so impressed with the discovery of this amazing tailor and their ability to replicate the fit of my bespoke suits. After checking out various reviews (and a good amount of procrastination), I took a pair of dress slacks to Jo's Tailor to take about 4" in on the waist. (My waist is normal size, but unfortunately my hips are not so I have to buy slacks to fit my hips/thighs). The dress slacks have two back pockets which made the alterations more challenging than what I wanted to attempt myself. With a little fear and trepidation (because I didn't want to ruin the slacks since they match my favorite suit jacket), I took the slacks to Jo's Tailor for alterations. Their work is amazing! I should taken the slacks there so much sooner! I have now had Jo's Tailor alter 3 pairs of dress slacks, including another pair with back pockets. My husband and I have used Jo's Tailor many times over the past 5 years to alter clothing. They used to alter each clothing item very professionally and correctly the first time. This month, I took 5 pair of pants and shorts to them for alterations; most of them had the waist taken in and one was hemmed. Four of the five were correct the first time. The fifth pair of pants had to re-done TWICE in order for the back middle part of the pants not to pucker. I also noticed when I picked up my alterations that none of the pants had been pressed. I seemed to remember that they used to press the clothing so it was ready to wear when picked up, but maybe they did not previously do this. My latest experience was disappointing. It may be coincidental, but she mentioned that 'the other women' who altered my pants would re-do the work. I'm not sure the couple who own the business do all of the work themselves anymore. read more
